    The Bitcoin bedrock...

    Posted: 31 Oct 2019 10:32 PM PDT

I'll keep it short and sweet. As a community, we must not forget what started it all:

The government should not be able to manipulate currency.

The government manipulating the money supply is a catalyst for corruption. Humanity has never been able to take currency control out of the hands of the government before, we live in exciting times!

"The root problem with conventional currency is all the trust that's required to make it work. The central bank must be trusted not to debase the currency, but the history of fiat currencies is full of breaches of that trust. Banks must be trusted to hold our money and transfer it electronically, but they lend it out in waves of credit bubbles with barely a fraction in reserve. "

*"Oh, oh. It's moving faster than I expected: Argentina's Central Bank just restricted payments with locally issued credit, debit and prepaid cards for all transactions involving, among others, the purchase of #crypto assets. What's next?"

British companies join, global bitcoin mining arms race intensified

Bitcoin miners around the world are clearly optimistic about the future of cryptocurrency.Past weeks,a series of large mining operations surfaced. The most recent was a 240% expansion of Argo Blockchain in the UK.

Argo Blockchain just announced,it has replaced the existing order with a larger order.Previously, the company ordered 5,000 Antminer s17 in the UK.But now, it has upgraded 10,000 more powerful and more advanced Antminer T17.

The revised order greatly improved their mining level,Will increase their mining hashing ability by 240%.Become the world's largest publicly traded cryptocurrency company.

Previous media recently reported on the upgrade of China's mining giant BitMain and its own business.Earlier this month, the company opened a bitcoin mine on a 33,000-acre site in Texas.Bitmain's initial planned total capacity is 25 MW.However it was upgraded to 50 MW,and it is possible to further expand to 300 MW.This will make it the largest mine on the planet.

Before many large mines go online, bitcoin's hash rate has been hitting record highs this year.Just last week, the total computing power of the Bitcoin network was reported to reach 114.3 EH/s.Since then the index has declined, but in the long run, there is still a clear upward trend.Obviously, with the global investment of hundreds of millions of dollars to buy Bitcoin mining machines. It shows that people behind these actions are full of confidence in the prospects of cryptocurrency.

With the expansion of the British company's business in bitcoin mining, intensified the "arms race" of global bitcoin mining.📷

    Buying btc

    Posted: 01 Nov 2019 12:52 AM PDT

I'm going to be purchasing btc about 1.5k worth for the first time not on an exchange like Robinhood. I've been watching btc for awhile and yeah I know I should've bought like 2 weeks ago during the slump but now I'm more serious. Should I just buy in lump sum below 10k or should I average in? Do we think that we might see another nice buy in period or am I going to get bombarded with anytime now is a good time to buy? Thank you for your time

    I'm drunk and I love bitcoin <3

    Posted: 31 Oct 2019 09:15 AM PDT

    Hello everyone,

I've been buying bitcoin since 2013. Right now, I've put all my savings in bitcoin. I hate fiat. I have a family and I still decided to risk everything because I don't trust the governments. I'm not really in this for money, I'm in it because 'I BELIEVE'

Forgive me for the rant, I love all of you.

    - Can be carried anywhere easily

    - Can be divided

    - Can't be faked

    - You can trace any transaction

    - Fix supply (21M)

    - Decentralized

Advice needed: how to calculate fair value for Bitcoin bet?

    Posted: 01 Nov 2019 02:47 AM PDT

The bitcoin bet is as follows:

    - if bitcoin trades >= 10k USD on 31 Dec 2019 midnight SGT then party A pays party B x USD

    - if bitcoin trades < 10k USD on 31 Dec 2019 midnight SGT then party B pays party A x USD

If we want to settle this bitcoin bet early (for example today), then how would one calculate the fair value? It's clear that in this case, as bitcoin is currently trading less than 10k USD, it would be party B paying party A an amount > 0 but < x. But what would be a fair amount?

Does the bet resemble a binary option? If so, is there a market for bitcoin binary options that we can use to gauge the market sentiment? Or should we use Black-Scholes and is there any online calculator?

Optical Proof of Work for Bitcoin

    Posted: 01 Nov 2019 03:51 AM PDT

It's estimated that BTC uses .32% of the world's electricity. It would need to use 10% to reach a 6T market cap. A fundamental shift in the PoW ecosystem is needed to support another order-of-magnitude increase in decentralized store-of-value. https://twitter.com/MikeDubrovsky/status/1190058462002241538?s=20
