My Experience Using A Crypto Trading Bot For 2 Months

Hello, Reddit Traders,

Bot trading is getting more popular every day, and for me, as a true HODLer, I thought that this type of service was really interesting to try. Yeah, I was pretty certain to get a lot of profit with one single click on the `Launch bot` button and sit back and do nothing.

I want to share my 2-month experience with a cryptocurrency trading bot service. During this period, I have gone through several stages:

Good profit and inspiration
Performance stagnation and doubts
Deposit burning and negation
Recovery and enlightenment

For this experiment, I have created a new Binance account and deposited 0.4 BTC. I have also obtained a pro package of bot service which allowed me to create and use 15 different trading bots.

I have chosen 15 crypto pairs to trade according to the backtesting results provided by the platform itself. The bot is using grid strategy and creates buy and sell orders inside the trading corridor. So, the idea is to follow the general rule of crypto trading – buy low, sell high.

Week 1

I was really excited to see good results right after the 1st week of my test. 5% of profit and 0.42 BTC on balance without any interaction from my side. Wow, that is exactly what I was looking for!

Week 2

The first wake-up call. The bot did not bring any additional profit during this week. The reason for that was the falling price of the altcoins traded by the bot. It went down and left the grid trading corridor. The bot bought altcoins and set a lot of sell orders waiting to sell high, but the price has stuck below the grid.

Week 5

My bot is losing money. Almost all the pairs in my list are red, the price went down a lot and it keeps falling. So, I am stuck with all these altcoins and sell orders waiting for the market recovery. 'Yes, the market should recover, yes, this is cryptocurrency, yes, this can happen' – I was trying to calm myself.

Week 8

The altcoin market has recovered, and I see positive income again! I have also made some changes to the grid settings and hope to see better results in my next report.

What I have learned during these 2 months of the experiment – crypto trading bot is a nice tool to make a lot of trades, but it needs to be monitored and adjusted. Hopefully, now I will be doing everything in a smart way and spend more time analyzing the market.
