Let's shoot local.bitcoin.com at Hong Kong like a cannon

    Posted: 16 Aug 2019 12:41 AM PDT

HK citizens want to try a run on the banks? They want to try to get themselves independent from that system? They're going to need a censorship-resistant decentralized cashlike currency if they are going to have any hope.

BCH can serve that role for HK. But how will HK people onboard to BCH? They will require a censorship resistant exchange, one that will work with any payment method, including physical currency and other alternatives.

    >>> local.bitcoin.com <<<

A censorship resistant exchange can allow HK people to onboard to BCH even if the state starts blocking transfers to exchanges.

The problem is very simple: the people in HK have no idea that local.bitcoin.com even exists.

We need a giant awareness campaign and we need it yesterday. Everyone in Hong Kong needs to be aware: local.bitcoin.com was literally created to solve these problems and launched on the anniversary of the Tiananmen square massacre in honor of freedom fighters like those in HK.

What can we do and how soon can we do it?

TIL that Anypay offers a $200+ bounty for on-boarding merchants in the state of New Hampshire

    Posted: 15 Aug 2019 09:52 PM PDT

The bounty is paid in Dash but the Anypay point of sale supports many cryptos including Bitcoin Cash. Here is more information on how to claim the bounty.

Adoption is on the rise in New Hampshire. If you are in NH or know someone who lives there please tell them about this bounty program! This will go well with the 10% Bitcoin Cash Back anypay is currently offering. Let's help catch up NH to North Queensland with Bitcoin Cash adoption and use age.

Right now this bounty program only applies to businesses in New Hampshire. We would like to expand the program to other regions, but we have not built the infrastructure for that yet, and we will wait to get the capital for that from Master Network if that is what they want to pay for.

Thank you to the Dash community for paving the way! Maybe we can crowdfund a Bitcoin Cash bounty to help their efforts. Anypay adoption is a win for all cryptocurrencies.

Spoke with an hour at the BANK about bch

    Posted: 15 Aug 2019 06:39 AM PDT

I actually sat down earlier today at my local bank to speak with the manager about bitcoin. The purpose wasn't to get them to be sold on the concept, but more because I was curious. It seems that he was fairly knowledge about crypto and even implied that he held some of his own. Obviously with the conflict of interest I felt that he wasn't free to speak his true opinions if they didn't help his organization. But to summarize, the lack of price stability seemed like his number one concern regarding mass use of crypto in general. He didn't seem to know much about non bitcoin coins and also mentioned how much more difficult crypto is for the average person because it needs so many hoops to jump through. Cant completely disagree with that one.

Well, that was interesting at least.

Does anyone know of any groups/individuals in Hong Kong accepting BCH donations directly?

I've donated to the Hong Kong Free Press, but I haven't seen others. Maybe we could create a list of groups accepting BCH donations directly?

Is cashshuffle malfunctioning for everybody or is it just me?

    Posted: 15 Aug 2019 12:39 PM PDT

I have SSL errors or connection failures when trying to shuffle on any clearnet shuffle servers.

Is this normal, or is something wrong on my side?

I will not use onion servers, because I have no TOR configured on the VM with ElectronCash.

    EDIT:

It appears my wallet profile files are probably damaged as the wallet is malfunctioning in weird ways.

I will just re-build the wallet configuration from scratch using seed.

    EDIT2:

I have rebuilt the profile. It didn't help. Electron Cash is apparently unable to process SSL certificates properly and it rejects all certs as invalid?

May be something with Python version on Linux Mint perhaps?

Maybe I will just make a fresh VM...

    EDIT3:

    SOLVED!

The problem must be related to the VM, because it is working fine on the base system.

I will just clean and reinstall the VM.

    Dear Folks,

    I am banned from r/Bitcoin

    I am banned from r/bitcoincashSV

r/btc is attacked from all the places not only me have been banned from .

Many "self proclaimed noobs" do want to push this (might be one of the last) uncensored place of free speech

over to the Block[the]stream hijacked (Troll) Coin with the ticker symbol "BTC".

All those in doubt what this place is about might please read about the history

of this sub, and "Bitcoin" in general.

I do stand against any (even guilded) attempts to rewrite "Bitcoin" history.

Though the "Guild" tries to claim this sub r/btc due to the ticker symbol "BTC",

I would offer it for "FREE" (I doubt I have the force, so please take it as a suggestion),

if WE (the old real "Bitcoiners") get back r/Bitcoin in exchange,

because there needs to be a place for FREE words and open discussion about the future

of "Bitcoin" as meant to be !

    peace

I think this upcoming recession could be the mark of death for BTC.

    Posted: 15 Aug 2019 10:58 AM PDT

So many maxis and economically handicapped individuals have it in their heads that Bitcoin is going to thrive when everything else suffers. The "digital gold" propaganda is misleading people into believing that Bitcoin is or is meant to be a safe haven asset. While in the future with mass adoption that may become true, that's definitely far from true now.

The value proposition of Bitcoin isn't "digital gold" or a financial "safe haven". The value proposition is a cash system nobody can stop, and escape from the long term effects of currency inflation. Escape from the long term effects of currency inflation has zero connection to escape from the financial depression of a recession. Especially when most of the volume of BTC is just play money and speculation.

Once people find out that not only is BTC a shitty and unreliable medium of exchange, but its also a shitty and unreliable store of value, its going to lose the rest of its credibility among the mainstream and anyone who's not a cultist or extremist. The entire crypto market will be choking on its own blood, but the price floor will finally sit close to where the relative adoption levels are at. And from there, we can build ourselves up to be great.

This isn't the way we wanted a flippening to happen, but its probably the way its going to have to happen.

Adoption funding development all in one but I need a PHP programmer help

    Posted: 15 Aug 2019 01:03 PM PDT

We are all saying utility and adoption is the key to success. Let us say that I'm an online merchant that wants to accept crypto payments. Normally I would use OpenCart, PrestaShop or Woocommerce, All PHP based CMS. I can easily get Paypal payment gateway to any of them in seconds and start selling. Paypal would handle disputes (create trust) and I don't have to process money, apply for a payment gateway or store funds myself.

BCH has a great feature that achieve most of this. Its' the non-custodial blind escrow. Yes it's ready and tested now in local.bitcoin.com and there is a library for it in Javascript named Jeton-lib.

I'm not a developer but I wanted to create my own service which utilize BCH without wasting a lot of money by using some PHP CMS but resources weren't easy to find. I searched a lot and discussed it in many places till a community member directed me to BCH bridge for bitwasp/bitcoin library which could make it easier to build blind non-custodial escrow library on top of PHP.

As I've learned the Jeton javascript library is not that huge and I should worry about it's dependencies which the BCH bridge for bitwasp/bitcoin library solves part of it at least.

I'm not sure if I'm going in the right direction or if it's possible at all. IF such library would help build extensions to popular CMS (E.g wordpress) then I think it will help with adoption. I'm already thinking of some applications that I'm ready to invest in.

The issue that I don't know where to start. should I write my use case and post it raw on Upwork and alike without making sure there are libraries available. Should I start by posting a job to convert the library. What is the estimated cost. Is it something that I should work with community member to fund?

    Don’t like bitpay / spedn?

    Posted: 15 Aug 2019 11:27 AM PDT

I know people like to whine about how crypto processors like bitpay and spedn and how they really aren't merchant based adoption like the things going on in North Queensland, but if you are gonna whine why don't you become a merchant accepting BCH? I know that's my number one goal in the future. I will be a merchant accepting BCH, time will allow for solutions to the logistics. If you feel strongly about BCH and spreading adoption I would suggest doing the same.
