    Cashscript vs Spedn

    Posted: 28 Aug 2019 08:33 PM PDT

Developer here -- I was looking at creating BCH smart contracts and found both Spedn and Cashscript. Which one is better and more widely used, or worth learning more in general?

Camelot - a crypto Reddit/Twitter client app need testers, community please help.

    Posted: 28 Aug 2019 10:01 PM PDT

    Hi crypto community

I spent the last crypto winter to built an all-in-one social client app for crypto professionals. As we all know, the most important social channels of cryptocurrency are Reddit (best, accurate, slow 5-10mins), Twitter (polluted, noisy, fast 1-5mins), and IM platforms like Telegram and Discords (narrow, very fast instant). Camelot app includes ALL the features above, plus lots of curated tools like market sentiment, news outlets, indexes...etc. (and even a crypto cam!)

As of today, I need some beta testers to stress test some of the functions, mainly on the public chat rooms. Please help me out if you have time. You will need a Reddit account and a Twitter account to register to the system. The Twitter account is mandatory for app wise id.

Camelot is an ios app, Apple Testflight download link https://testflight.apple.com/join/jWoZAEyL

There are some screenshots and list of features on my website if you want to know what you are going to test https://camelot.chat

PS. This limited 500 Testflight app is a VIP version. Lifetime free, Unlimited accounts, top-level clearance.

If you are on the Android side, you also can help me by upvoting this post!

Feedback appreciated, thank you for your time!

I just don't get why anyone is falling for this new stupid narrative that BTC was meant as anything other than low fee, high speed, digital cash.

Time for those who believe Craig Wright is Satoshi to put your money where your mouth is -- a unique use of OP_CHECKDATASIG only on BCH

    Posted: 28 Aug 2019 12:03 PM PDT

Using BCH's OP_CHECKDATASIG feature, people can trustlessly bet on whether Craig Wright (or anyone) will move any of Satoshi's coins.

This is a simplified version of how it would work:

Person A thinks Satoshi's coins will not move in the next year.

    Person B thinks they will.

If any of Satoshi's coins move, Person B can just copy the message and the signature from the spending transaction and feed them to an OP_CHECKDATASIG to claim the money that was wagered.

If the coins don't move, Person A can wait for a timelock of a year to expire and claim the funds.

In more technical detail, this could be the process:

    • Person A and Person B exchange BCH addresses.
    • They come up with the terms of the bet, such as the odds, the time expiration, the total amount, the coinbase(s) that could be spent, etc.
    • One of them creates a P2SH redeem script that encapsulates those terms like the following:

    .

    OP_IF <1 year from now> OP_CHECKLOCKTIMEVERIFY OP_DROP //Check if after August 28, 2020 OP_DUP OP_HASH160 <Person A's address> OP_EQUALVERIFY OP_CHECKSIG //Person A wins the bet OP_ELSE <public key for block 1 coinbase> OP_CHECKDATASIGVERIFY OP_DUP OP_HASH160 <Person B's address> OP_EQUALVERIFY OP_CHECKSIG //Person B wins the bet OP_ENDIF
    • The person who creates the redeemScript makes a transaction that spends to its P2SH address, using the total number of satoshis in the bet and signs his input as SIGHASH_ALL | SIGHASH_ANYONECANPAY. The inputs should not equal or exceed the output at this point. They should simply add up to the amount this person is betting.
    • The person then sends the (at this point invalid) transaction to the other person and they add their input(s), which should be enough to cover the total output value, and sign and broadcast the now-valid transaction
    • The bet is locked in place
    • Person A can claim it with a scriptSig of <sig> <pubkey> <true> <redeemscript>
    • Person B can claim it with a scriptSig of <sig> <pubkey> <satoshi_sig> <msg> <false><redeemscript>

It's straightforward to check that using OP_CHECKDATASIG works this way by using block 9 as an example. This would be an example locking script:

    33 0x0311db93e1dcdb8a016b49840f8c53bc1eb68a382e97b1482ecad7b148a6909a5c OP_CHECKDATASIG

It just pushes the compressed public key for the block 9 coinbase and asks for a valid signature.

    This scriptSig will unlock it:

    70 0x304402204e45e16932b8af514961a1d3a1a25fdf3f4f7732e9d624c6c61548ab5fb8cd410220181522ec8eca07de4860a4acdd12909d831cc56cbbac4622082221a8768d1d09 32 0x4c98270a2b3254564210678c6edff42b5f62c71123387f75f227e04fa6391f3b

That's just the signature followed by the message. I got the signature from block 170 where it was spent. Getting the message is a bit annoying, but basically you take the serialised version of the spending transaction and replace the scriptSig with the scriptPubKey of the unlocked outpoint, add the sighash bytes, then hash it once.

The redeemScript could be expanded to include many different blocks instead of just a single one, and the timelock is obviously adjustable.

To put my money where my mouth is, I'm willing to bet 10 BCH that no early coins will move within the next eight months. If anyone is interested in offering odds or other terms, please let me know in public or private.

Crescent Cash v1.7.1, featuring the new Automatic Send system, is now being rolled out to the Google Play Store!

    Posted: 28 Aug 2019 09:54 AM PDT

    Hey everyone!

I've just pushed out the v1.7.1 update of Crescent Cash to the Google Play Store, so it should be fully rolled out in a few hours!

This update features Automatic Send. A feature where funds are automatically sent when scanning or pasting a payment URI if the amount in the URI is below a certain amount set by the user in the settings.

Bitcoin.com has a similar feature on the way for the Bitcoin.com wallet, but I beat them by releasing this update featuring it before they released theirs. :)

"The module, which Kaspersky Lab researchers named Trojan-Dropper.AndroidOS.Necro.n, could download and execute whatever the developers wanted at any time."

As we depend more and more upon technology, especially for matters of finance, it's important to be aware of what devices and usage situations are highly vulnerable from a security and privacy perspective. Many around cryptocurrency for a while know our industry solution to coin security matched with reasonable convenience is a hardware wallet a dedicated physical device which effectively holds coins in "cold storage" a term essentially meaning no contact with the internet. A freely available method of cold storage is called a paper wallet, which is just a documented private key and public key pair which has similarly never had the chance to be exposed to malicious software.

Being your own bank requires users taking some responsibility (sometimes including research and learning) on their own. My advice is thinking of cryptocurrency like BCH in terms of checking and saving. Use a device of convenience, such as a mobile phone, for day to day spending and holding limited amounts. For larger holdings use a form of cold storage.
