You think Bitcoin Twitter is bullish? Hal Finney (@halfin) was calculating a price of $10,000,000 per bitcoin, just ONE WEEK after the the genesis block on January 3, 2009. Absolute legend.

How do you believe Bitcoins price will be impacted if we enter a recession?

    Posted: 23 Aug 2019 02:17 PM PDT

Do you believe the price of bitcoin will go up or down if we enter a recession in the United States? There is a negative correlation between gold and the stock market. I've heard many people say that same would apply to bitcoin. What do you guys think?

    opennode.co not requires KYC!

    Posted: 24 Aug 2019 03:04 AM PDT

    TYPO: ~not~ now.

opennode is a custodial service to accept bitcoin online (with lightning). Now that it requires KYC I really recommend everyone to use BTCPay Server instead. BTCPay Server is opensource and non-custodial. Though it might be easier to use opennode, but a KYC is out of the question. Do tell if you know any other options.

    Bitcoin is NOT easy money.

    Posted: 23 Aug 2019 03:20 PM PDT

Despite promises of "get rich quick," Bitcoin is NOT easy money. In truth, there's an epic opportunity in front of all of us - it will reward whoever studies it and has the conviction to practice it.

IMO, Bitcoin has won the battle of ideas. The topics range from: computer science, applied cryptography, game theory, distributed systems, infosec, opsec, behavioural economics, psychology, hardware/software engineering, energy production, monetary history, market mechanics, and Austrian economics in the context of the systematic failure of our existing financial system.

I believe in everything it represents (separation of Money and State, financial freedom for the people, taking power away from the corrupt elite, privacy as a human right, etc.).

The financial rewards are fair for those who dedicate time to understand it, and contribute to make it better.

    Question about 3a btc address

    Posted: 24 Aug 2019 03:09 AM PDT

I sent money from LocalBitCoins to my Samourai wallet. The receive address started with 3a. I believe I selected a segwit address. I also use the same seed from Samourai on a Trezor. When I open the Trezor, the funds are shown as a legacy account.

I thought addressees starting with a 3 are segwit. Can anyone explain why the funds are shown as a legacy account.

It's reported that the FBI have around $120m worth of Bitcoin which they seized when shutting down silk road.

Presumably those that had their Bitcoin taken off them weren't using exchanges.

How did the FBI manage to confiscate these Bitcoins.

Splices and Liquidity in the Lightning Network

    Posted: 23 Aug 2019 10:33 AM PDT

When talking about the Lightning Network, it is often said that money is "locked up" in payment channels. The reason for this expression is that when you have money in a payment channel you cannot use it outside the channel.

In this post we explain what are splices, what is needed for them to work and how can they change our perspective on liquidity.

Transfering from exchange to hardware wallet

    Posted: 23 Aug 2019 11:16 PM PDT

I was wondering what is the safest most discrete method to transfer from, say, Coinbase to a Trezor? Is there a way to do it so that it cannot be seen where the coins come from and who was holding them on the exchange?
