Best introductory book for a developer looking to build Ethereum apps? Posted: 04 Jul 2019 08:04 AM PDT I don't know much about Ethereum, but I have spent all day reading up on it. I want to get a book on the subject for a more in-depth look, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a good one? I'm particularly interested in creating Ethereum based currencies and smart contracts. I've been programming for about five years so I should be able to handle the technical side of things. Question regarding ETH 2.0 scaling. Posted: 04 Jul 2019 12:18 PM PDT Do you believe that L2 scaling solutions will still be relevant upon the release of ETH 2.0? [link] [comments] | ||
If this is not the best subreddit for this I can move: but who's got/used an HTC Exodus? Posted: 04 Jul 2019 12:06 PM PDT I am really into and supportive of the Decentralized Apps I've heard so much about but haven't really tried to use yet. I've only used apps available for crypto trading itself, but I understand there's a whole market of these things now and the HTC Exodus is the only new phone that I know uses them. I also really like the idea of the cold-storage on a phone, thought I wonder if anybody has actually used this relatively new product yet. (It came out in April I believe of 2019?) Thoughts? Open call to react native and eth developers Posted: 04 Jul 2019 12:46 PM PDT Looking to start a wallet / dapp project. I am a developer but am looking to team up with someone with slightly more experience to build out a project I've been working on. I have several features prototypes already. Thanks! Lock-Harvest, a new token distribution mechanism Posted: 04 Jul 2019 10:38 AM PDT Many projects control the initial supply of tokens and use them to raise funds through ICO and private rounds. This is similar to how early stage companies raise money. It may be suitable for some projects, but in some cases, we do not want centralised control over the supply of tokens. That is why we propose the lock-harvest mechanism to fairly distribute tokens for Ethereum Elements with no centralised control over initial supply. The idea for lock-harvest is to distribute new supply of tokens (with fixed maximum) every day to accounts which lock up their ETH. The amount minted for each account is proportional to how much ETH they have locked for the day. In this way nobody has an unfair advantage, and latecomers will still have a chance to gain some tokens without having to purchase off others in the open market. This means of distribution is ideal for Ethereum Elements, because we aim to create a digital resource that is free for everyone to harvest for themselves and use as they see fit. The Ethele tokens comprise of Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, Wood, Yin, and Yang. They are ERC20 tokens which can be used as a scarce digital resources in your applications and games, for example as crafting material for your items or NFTs. I would like to raise more awareness around this project so that mainnet launch can have more participants from day one, to achieve a more even token distribution early on in its lifetime. And The Circus goes on: Parity-Ethereum Team "flying-blind", ignoring existent reproduction&fix. Posted: 04 Jul 2019 04:27 PM PDT You may remember this here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/c4sjpw/how_paritytech_keeps_6monhts_old_bugs_alive_at/ What happened since then? Gossip Level Well, the bounty-thieves from poanet moved on to Nethermind, most possibly realizing that parity-ethereum will degenerate more and more under the influence of the current incapable maintainers: https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/c5o3ak/nethermind_partners_up_with_poa_network_for/ The product-manager of Gitcoin (ConsenSys decentralization-joke, "The Shame of All Dapps") justifies again and again the failures of the system. Here, ParityTech's dictator fails to cash-in his award: https://github.com/gitcoinco/web/issues/4701 As for my "tip", I tried to reject it, contacted gitcoin and ask for removal of the tip: https://github.com/paritytech/parity-ethereum/issues/10085#issuecomment-505094623 Nothing. Gitcoin still gives the impression that I got a tip. I know from experience that it makes no sense to contact ConsenSys in context of data-privacy etc. - last time the mail just went back. This is how fascist-folks breath and live: they present their own reality, and to do so, they abuse. CoC Gossip Code of Conducts are ridiculous documents, written for brainless folks. I mean seriously, any intelligent person does not need this "trara" to behave politely.
Thus, discriminating a person cause of its lower ability... CoC violation. And of course: discriminating a person cause of its higher ability... CoC violation. Code-Level The parity-ethereum maintainers fire one PR after the other to bug #10085. "may fix". Or even "fixes", like the last one: https://github.com/paritytech/parity-ethereum/pull/10837 It is simply FASCINATING how this folks prefer to plub-around, how they ignore conceptional flaws right before their eyes, and of course: how they ignore an existent solution, just to not acknowledge that they did behave like pigs. Now, because I have created a reproduction, isolated the root-cause, provided a fix and did some further dig-in (just out of curiosity, to see how incompetent this folks @ ParityTech is), I can now see whenever they introduce new "fuzzy" behaviour. Really a joke. Assimilating a Worthy Blockchain Code-Base I looked a bit at Monero, and the result was that I revised my assessment of the Ethereum Foundation again. https://repo.getmonero.org/monero-project/ccs-proposals/merge_requests/82#note_6674 Monero is simply unbelievable sloppy, Ethereum-Foundation Projects feeel like clockwork in comparison. My final candidates are: - Ontology - VeChain - Ethereum (Ethereum Foundation Centric, NO(!) ConsenSys / ParityTech) - Ripple Flash Ethereum Foundation should counter ParityTechs development-directions, by transforming geth into a framework. Needs some hyper-abstractors... (guess...).
