Is Plasma being used on mainnet?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2019 02:11 PM PDT

    Hey /r/ethereum

I'm wondering what the current state of plasma is. I recently started prototyping a basic plasma contract and know for a fact that OmiseGo, Matic Network and others are building around plasma.

Is anyone using plasma on mainnet and actually circumventing scaling issues right now?

    Thanks!

PSA: I lost $200 lending BAT on Nuo

    Posted: 01 Jul 2019 05:43 AM PDT

I had been lending BAT on Nuo and made $150 in BAT so far. Pretty happy right? Well, today I woke up to see that my account said I had made -$50. So, I lost $50? How is that possible? I have yet to receive a satisfactory answer, but apparently if a borrower gets liquidated the lender also risks losing that as well. There are people on their Telegram saying they just lost a bunch of money lending ETH, BAT, and LINK.

I'm not going to go as far as to call them scammers like this post, because I simply don't know.

    https://reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/bjhy2v/do_not_use_nuonetwork_warning_scam/

But it's clear their system is complete shit and they have no idea what they're doing. I don't know if this is how Compound works, but it's extremely risky.

The concept of DeFi is amazing and may very well be the future of finance, but it is really not worth it to use these services IMO until they are well established, and even then there will always be smart contract risks. I honestly feel safer lending at Celsius or BlockFi right now even if it's centralized.

Nuo is backed by Consensys and has the highest advertised lending rates on BAT and stablecoins, so I thought it was worth it to give it a try. But after my experience, it is my opinion that no one should ever use it. If you do, worst case be prepared to lose everything.

    Help with overwriting pending TX

    Posted: 01 Jul 2019 10:26 AM PDT

So i am paying my VPS with Cryptocurrency ethereum to be specific.

Anyhow i sent the said amount to their adress but the TX was set to take 4 hours so i increased the gas and sent the same amount to the same adress. This is how i previously have overwritten ethereum transactions, and i cannot find any other information on how to do it so it must be right?

Unfortuneatley instead of overwriting it created 3 new transactions and the original transaction....

On etherscan i can only see the original transaction sent with 21 GWEI. after i sent one with 40 60 and 210 GWEI it says your transaction was sent on MEW, But when you click the TX it says it havent been mined...

suggestions please? About to have a mentral breakdown as i got 1000 million other stuff to do atm.

    Bitlle Network: Ethereum-transactions without ETH-commissions

    Bitlle Network

    Hi Reddit!

Let me present you our project Bitlle Network.

    VISION

Many projects are scaling Ethereum network, and most of them are focusing on increasing the network's traffic-carrying capacity, what is actually very important. However, there's one more issue: in order to communicate with Ethereum network they need to have Ether (ETH), which makes it more complicated for technology to enter the mass-market. Bitlle Network should solve this task, giving the users possibility to pay the transactions fees by any tokens ("economic abstraction"), at the same time maintaining the initial decentralization and security of Ethereum Mainnet.

    HOW IT WORKS

Bitlle Network – is the network of specialiazed units (we call them "aggregators"), which process batch controlled users' transactions– post them in Ethereum network, using their own Ether for gas payments. As a remuneration for this, the aggregators receive tokens, which they are ready to get. The more precious and stable the token is, the more aggregators are ready to process transactions with it, and on the other side – the less transaction fees are paid (due to high competition).

DEXes like 0x, Kyber Network, Radar Relay, and BinanceDEX are critical for #DeFi, but they're limited by a lack of privacy.Learn how Enigma can help prevent attacks like front-running and keep DEXes safe and secure!

    Posted: 01 Jul 2019 10:41 AM PDT

Blockchain is an amazing technology for correctness — however, it comes at the large cost of privacy. Data on blockchains are public by default. This not only limits any application with sensitive data to run in a decentralized manner, but it also limits usability by creating attack vectors such as front-running. Today, I want to discuss the concept of front-running in more detail and describe how Enigma can help solve this critical issue.

    An Overview of Front-running

While front-running has existed in traditional finance for decades, it was an illegal attack vector that could only be exploited by insiders. Due to the public nature of blockchains, front-running attacks can be exploited by anyone.Because users can see transactions and their corresponding gas prices before a block is mined, it is possible for an attacker to submit his own transaction with a higher gas price, which would give priority to the attacker and result in his transaction being mined first.

This phenomenon becomes a significant issue with contracts where there's value being exchanged such as decentralized exchanges. For most decentralized applications, the order of transactions is irrelevant; but because prices can fluctuate all the time on an exchange, an attacker (Bob) who front-runs another user (Alice) can buy at a low price and immediately sell to that user for a higher price. This negatively affects both exchanges and users.

For this post, we are primarily interested in examining front-running attacks on decentralized exchanges and automated market making (bonding curve) contracts.

A lot of time and work was put into the blog post. Here you can read the article.
