Tech guys/gals - XRP, atomic swaps, the future?

    Posted: 30 Jun 2019 08:47 AM PDT

Researching Ripple/XRP. I get the main use case of Ripple with their software and using XRP as a bridge asset to disrupt SWIFT for cross boarder remittances. Got it... agree huge potential for that use case.

But here's what I don't get... the "walled garden argument". With Libra, JP Morgan coin, and soon to be many, many others... I keep hearing how great this is for XRP because it can bridge these walled gardens. But the tech already exists for digital assets to swap in a wallet without going through an exchange (atomic swaps?) right?

So looking into the future... why wont there be universal wallet that utilizes atomic swapping? And if someone sends me Goldman Sachs coin I can just convert it in the wallet to Libra (or use whatever example you want).

So I guess looking for comments on why the walled garden argument is good for XRP? People are looking at it in big volumes? I'm not techie guy so for forgive me if my understanding on some of this is wrong. Comments?
