*BCH-LEAKS* Today I went to visit 21 local BCH merchants in Caracas, Venezuela

    Posted: 11 Jun 2019 06:50 PM PDT

Today I went to visit 21 merchants which are located inside a commercial center in Caracas, according to the marcocoino.bitcoin.com website.

As we recently updated the content of bmap.cash I had to go and investigate on the content of all the other maps available including marcocoino.

With bitcoinmap.cash we are now delivering you 500+ (CONFIRMED & VERIFIED) Restaurants, Bars, Supermarkets, Hotels and Spas worldwide accepting BCH and DASH!

I found exactly five out of the supposedly 21 merchants, which actually had the bitcoin.com sticker on their window and I got to talk to most of the managers.

None of them was able to take my BCH, ALL of them told me they do not know how to use the wallet...

This was my third day, trying to to find merchants using marcocoino.

On the first attempt I visited five BCH places of which two didnt exist and three of them didnt know how to use the wallet. The second attempt one of them accepted.

Marco Coino is proudly presenting 200+ merchants in Caracas, Venezuela, but most of that data is fake, I wonder if bitcoin.com knows about that fact and if they manually confirm the data coming in???

I found several places on the Map that are sooo close together that you can not see the pin... There are spots containing supposedly 3,5, or 8 merchants... but as I investigated there were only 5 real merchants out of 21 in total!!! So these pins are definitely fake and maybe you got tricked by one of your promoters like the DASH DAO got tricked by their promoters a year ago doing the same job? DASH has also (still) so many fake or outdated pins on their map, that is a real issue and users would benefit if all parties would be so honest to remove them as fast as possible!!

Making a promotion campaign is something different to actually training and making test purchases and making sure that customers can make a purchase at all times. I have on-boarded 50-60 merchants myself worldwide and I know how much training each employee needs until they really get it.

It is an absolute naked lie that 200+ merchants around Caracas, Venezuela are accepting BCH while approximately only 5-10% of them do! Just by putting the sticker on the door they do not learn how to use the wallet!

DASH is growing so fast in Colombia now, they have a real strategy for several months already... in my opinion the race is lost if nothing changes drastically... DASH strategy is much more focused on real world adoption.

A real adoption strategy based on using ANYPAY with 10% CASHBACK is the only thing that I can imagine that could possibly keep up with the pace DASH is growing!!!

DASH adoption is so huge here in South America already (2000+ merchants), a single-coin strategy makes no sense to the merchant, but if we offer to the DASH merchants to install ANYPAY to integrate BCH with 10% CASHBACK to attract more customers... that would be a game changer... CASHBACK is such a huge incentive to use it!

The future is multi-coin and the sooner we accept that the sooner we will be on the right path to full adoption and then the consumers can choose which coin they like most, it will be that way and all the resistance trying to push a single coin strategy is inefficiently invested energy.

A multi-coin environment is beneficial to make sure that at least one of the free coins makes the race against the threat that the market will be controlled by some Ripple or Stablecoin scam in the future!!!

I actually on-boarded 2 of these merchants which were left with questions and I answered them all their questions (which is so important), we installed the Coinomi Wallet, we practiced sending and receiving both BCH and DASH, then we installed them our *new* Coinector Android App which offers an easy on-boarding process in 7 languages:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cash.bitcoinmap.coinector

then we installed them the ANYPAY POS so that all the future Satoshis will get 10% Cashback for BCH and DASH payments!

If you do not know about that program check:

    http://charts.anypay.global

They do need BCH donations urgently, so that people are incentivized to use BCH over DASH!!!

They have returned 57.63 DASH (5000-10000 USD) as Cashback so far!!

And they have returned only: 0.38 BCH!!!

Because most of the people in the real world on the street are using DASH!!!

BCH can keep up with DASH if BCH adopts a similar cashback strategy

or if the BCH community (bitcoin.com) starts funding the ANYPAY cashback pot to make it simple!!

ANYPAY has been funded by the DASH treasury before and is receiving constant donations from the DASH community.

They have 200+ merchants worldwide, that is quite some amount if you realize that the whole adoption of BCH is at around 500-1000 total.

For expressing my opinion (different from theirs) and providing links to back up my arguments. That means I'm an "altcoin scammer". They literally think I'm Roger because I provided links to information related to Bitcoin.com. Good riddance, I guess I finally got my censorship troll badge.

    Electron-Cash documentation needs your help!

    Posted: 11 Jun 2019 01:18 PM PDT

Think Electron-Cash is awesome? Ever bothered by the fact that it does everything under the sun and keeps piling on more and more goodies, but the documentation here is patchy, stuck in the stone age, resulting in tonnes of confused noobs going around asking questions and getting equally confusing answers? Ever thought "man, the help page can really use some major overhaul", but then realized the devs are already burned out to a a crisp keeping the code in shape and implementing things everyone salivates over?

Most importantly, ever feel like you want to help, but have no confidence in coding?

Look no further than the Electron-Cash documentation repo, where you can submit fixes and help newbies take full advantage of the best desktop BCH wallet in town!

    Q: I don't know any python, I don't think I can help.

A: You absolutely still can, as long as you have a good idea how Electron-Cash works! Remember, you're fixing the user manual - an important part of the software - but not the gears and engines themselves.

Q: I'm a noob to Github. Please tell me the fastest way to submit a fix for a typo or inaccuracy.

A: You register an account on Github, go to the above repo, find the relevant page in either "docs" or "old" folder, click the edit button top right (it looks like a pen), edit it, give it a description below, and generally click green buttons until you have successfully submitted a pull request.

Q: I know how to use Github already. Can I create a new page? Lots of features are missing!

A: Absolutely, make sure you also update index.rst in your pull request.

    Q: I submitted a PR, what next?

A: Electron-cash developers (chiefly /u/jonald_fyookball ) will review them, and accept if it makes sense, or request changes if it, well, requires changes. If merged it'll get pushed to the actual website sometime later.

Q: I have no idea what I'm doing but I want to submit some nonsense pull request for the lulz.

    A: Please don't.

Q: I'm kind of confused about feature X while writing the fix. Where do I ask?

A: Come hang out on telegram.

    Q: Do I get a medal?

    A: https://i.imgur.com/N3uKKGL.jpg

EDIT: from /u/rancid_sploit : It'll also be helpful if some of you can scour the interwebs for Electron-cash tutorial videos (there are many, scattered over a few Youtube channels) and post them below, so the help page can add them.

Why was a hardfork necessary to create BCH?

    Posted: 11 Jun 2019 10:30 PM PDT

So BCH was created as a hard fork of BTC in order to increase the block size limit to overcome BTC's scaling limitations, but why was a hard fork necessary? Was it necessary ONLY because the miners didn't agree to a proposed change to increase the block size limit? Or was it necessary due to some technical limitation in the system, such as the change not being backwards-compatible or something?

That is, was the hard fork needed to work around a technical challenge or to work around a human decision problem?

    Posted: 11 Jun 2019 12:55 PM PDT

In college I got 1 C that ruined my 4.0. I wrote a paper for the final about Bitcoin and it's potential, and my economics professor put a giant red X and the letters "No" on the paper and gave me a 0. This was worth so much of the class that the best I could salvage, even with extra credit, was a C.

FindBitcoinCash Treasure Hunt - Question for the community

    Posted: 11 Jun 2019 12:32 PM PDT

So, the last "Big" treasure was found, but sadly, the treasure-hunter didn't take any photos of their win and post it anywhere. Which is fair for them to do, of course.

My question to everyone here, the next time we do a "big treasure" where the community pitches in to make it a great find, what are your thoughts about bip38 encrypting the wallet, and releasing the password to the person when they find it and share on twitter or reddit a pic of them with their find?

EDIT: What about instead of the above, we add: Post a pic of your haul and get some findbitcoincash tokens as a reward..

    Appreciate thoughts on this.

    TIA!
