    Could owning more than one full Bitcoin potentially provide life changing wealth in 10 years or more with HODLing? I know that no one will know for sure but it's always fun to get opinions. Years ago, it was relatively easy for me to get one full Bitcoin. Now I'm just DCA into Bitcoin weekly. Back then, one bitcoin was "that's it?!" and now one bitcoin is "whoa!".

    [WIP] Trezor / Electrum update script for USB bootable Tails OS.

    Github - Script to update Tails for Trezor and Electrum

    I've made a small script that will update Tails to work with the latest version of Trezor and Electrum. Those familiar with Tails may have been frustrated with the slow update cycle of the OS and the fact that the copy of Electrum included almost never works with current Trezor or Ledger firmware. This is a small bootstrap script that will bring things up to date. Unfortunately, I only made it operational once persistent storage is enabled in Tails. Persistence is one of the more advanced Tails features, and not everyone may be using it.

    I would HIGHLY recommend that you backup your Tails instance before running this script. I've seen some of the portions of the script corrupt the persistent volume if the right thing goes wrong at the right time. Be warned!!!

    Here's a rundown of what the script does:

    1. Installs APT packages to build latest Trezor python libraries.
    2. Installs latest Trezor python libraries (0.11.3) and their dependent PIP libraries.
    3. Installs latest AppImage copy of Electrum (3.3.6) with a link in the Applications menu.
    4. Installs latest Bridge (2.0.27) software for Trezor.
    5. Adds iptables entry to open 127.0.0.1:21325 for Bridge communication.
    6. Adds Tor proxy to gnome network properties with a localhost exclusion for Bridge communication.
    7. Adds a localhost exclusion to Tor Browser for Bridge communication.
    8. Adds configuration files for chromium, though I opted not to install it.
    9. Commits all the above changes to persistent storage (requires reboot).
    Errata
    • The script may not be completely restartable. That is next on my list.
    • The APT packages to build the libraries do not need to persist. Only the bridge needs to persist.
    • I've decided later that 90% could run from the AppImage, but it is about one rev back.
    • I committed a cardinal sin by opening a localhost port on Tails.. please forgive me.
    • The bridge communication is only required for the Tor Browser. Chromium could use WebUSB.
    • You should never run a script recommended by some poster on reddit!

    Around 3,000 BTC were have been traded this month only using LocalBitcoin, everyone knows about the fees, but for some reason people still traded that amount in this country using BTC and Localbitcoin.

    Last week was the lowest trading week since Sep 2018 (I dont really know the reason).

    That doesnt sounds a lot, but considering the wages here are under 20 USD per month usually I think it means a lot. Even when when people use BTC to save (just to avoid Bs.)

    Usually it is BTC > Bolivares in your bank account

    By the way, before someone asks. People NEEDS to sell their BTC to get Bolivares and pay for things (Not so many stores or store owners accept direct payment in crypto)

    And it's been great so far. The set up process is very clean and easy imo.

    I funded the wallet with some coins. Transactions with 0 confirmations don't show in the transaction list, I had to wait for at least 1 confirmation.

    The transaction detail view has a bug (it might be a ux decision), which shows $0.00 fees for incoming on chain transactions, I can clearly see I paid $2 from my electrum wallet on my phone:

    I manually opened a channel. You can see my initial transaction confirmed and I have to wait for the new channel funding transaction above to confirm for the channel to be opened (btw I changed fiat to euro, it just shows the btc balance in eur equivalent).

    I have autopilot enabled in settings but it did nothing so far. I added more funds but autopilot didn't open more channels. isnt that what it is supposed to do?

    So the channel opened. onchain fees are great. I paid $0.78 and have one confirmation in the next block.

    so this is the best lightning wallet I've tried. thanks for your work.

    So things that are I'd like to see: inbound / outbound capacity figures, ability to set % of funds held on ln, in the transaction list show a new column with the final balance. also a bit of criticism, the % in lightning figure says nothing to the user that wants to pay via lightning.
