Developers: Java Schnorr Signature Implementation Review

    Posted: 11 May 2019 10:23 PM PDT

I believe the Secp256k1 Schnorr Signature verification implementation I wrote is the first-ever Java implementation. This is cool, but forces me to extra (extra) careful, since I can't bounce the signatures off a reference implementation. To my knowledge, even bitcoinj does not have Schnorr implemented (though they can achieve this with the JNI version of their libsecp25k1, if they recompile it with the flag enabled, I believe). Bouncy Castle also does not implement an Secp256k1 Schnorr verification--especially with the particular choices made by Pieter Wuille's implementation.

From what I can tell, Bitcoin ABC only has one signature verification check test--it's possible they have more, but I'm not terrifically familiar with their codebase, so it's possible I am just looking in the wrong place. My (Bitcoin Verde's) implementation passes their test, but that's not to say it's 100% good to go (for instance, I had bug despite passing the original test: the r, s, and e variables weren't being parsed as unsigned integers up until a few minutes ago... which would have caused some valid signatures to fail had I not caught it).

Therefore, I'd love to have any cypherpunks review my implementation (at least those that are familiar with Pieter Wuille's BIP (and/or the 2019-05 HF), and are familiar with Java). That can be found here.

My (aka ABC's) single test is located here.

If you wish to pull down the full repo, the Schnorr implementation is currently found in the feature/schnorr-signatures/master branch.

    Thanks!

I bought my lunch with BCH in Singapore! very easy..

Today I used Bitcoin Cash for the first time!

Large block size will gain more credence as transactions on $BTC increase. $BCH will benefit most from this shift in narrative. $BSV seems like the sick man of the forks.

Looking for payment processor code that I can host on my own server, which handles BIP39-compliant zero-conf BCH payments and does IPN. Has anyone come across it?

    Posted: 12 May 2019 02:19 AM PDT

I am looking for the payment processor code that checks all of these boxes:

    • Ability to host on my own webserver. I don't want to create accounts with Bitpay or Coinbase, for example.
    • BIP39 compliant so that it can generate one wallet address per checkout, preserving privacy.
    • Zero-Confirmation instant checkout, so that my customers don't have to wait until there's N number of confirmations for checkout to complete.
    • IPN Instant Payment Notification, so that I can send checkout details to shipping apis, emailing apis, etc.

    Has anyone come across this?

So, a big thank you to jonald and electron wallet. Cash shuffle is dead simple to use, I don't have to edit any config files, or go digging deep into some settings menus to get it running. In short, it rocks, and y'all should get off your butts and start shuffling :)

All you greedy HODLERS out there, get a mobile wallet and start tipping small amounts to people who produce something of value, every day!

    Posted: 11 May 2019 10:59 AM PDT

Look, it doesn't have to be much. This sub has 250 000 subscribers. If only one percent of us made a habit of tipping 25 cents to a dollar every day, to someone who produces value for you in one way or another, that will create a HUGE incentive for people to add BCH-addresses to their Youtube-videos, their webpages or what-have-you. The money you greedy hodlers lose by tipping is f----n peanuts in comparison to the huge value this will bring to BCH long term. Be generous, and the world will be generous to you. Of course it's okay to be greedy, but if you're greedy and smart, that's even better.

PS. Also, it's so much FUN to tip/give, especially in real life. Help a friend to download a wallet, send them a dollar then let them send it to a third guy. Etc. Explain how no one can stop them and no permission is needed (à la Roger Ver). It's pretty awesome seeing their reaction.

Bitfinex: "The larger issue here is that Bitfinex still seems to be using private bank accounts for processing withdrawals. This will not last long. And after this NYAG clusterfuck, I'm skeptical they will ever be able to get access to reliable banking. They are now a compliance nightmare"

Open your Electron Cash wallet and participate in shuffling!

    Posted: 11 May 2019 12:40 PM PDT

Don´t just shuffle once, shuffle shuffle shuffle, it costs far less than a cent to shuffle your coins. Maybe I´m in the wrong time zone right now, but there is space for improvement here in the shuffle pools. Use your cash, don´t just sit on it :)

Download the electron cash wallet at electroncash.org (verify the checksum via 7zip for example in windows to make sure you downloaded the orginal file), create or restore your wallet with your mnemonic phrase, and enable shuffling after picking one of the servers. Its the little money bill symbol on the bottom right of the program window. Leave the wallet open in the background and that´s it. Pretty simple, piece of cake.

PODCAST Tokenomics On BCH: SLP, Badger, & Singularity with Gabriel Cardona

    Posted: 11 May 2019 05:29 PM PDT

Bitcoin Cash(BCH) needs an advertising campaign. Let the discussion begin.

    Posted: 11 May 2019 07:27 AM PDT

BCH needs the discussion to begin, and the funding. When it's time to execute, all of the pieces need to be in place so that it can execute without issue.

I'm willing to help fund this, but i'm clueless of how to go about starting this.

    Please advise.

    Edit2: Bitbutter's animations are fantastic.
