My Mom wanted to buy some bitcoin but she was afraid the bank would close her account.

I live in India and banks have started to close down your bank accounts if you are found to have transacted in cryptocurrencies. My mom wanted to buy some bitcoin when it was around 3-4k but couldnt because of this and now that its 7k she doesnt even have the chance to buy at 3k because of the banks, tried to buy from localbitcoins but there was no one nearby selling bitcoin. Due to me currently using cryptocurrencies, i dont even have a single bank account now in India, but its not that bad cuz i still live with my mom but still, its very problematic

Buyers beware: Gemini Exchange quietly removes trading functionality, increases transaction fee....

    Posted: 12 May 2019 01:49 AM PDT

Gemini recently added ActiveTrader to their platform and removed trading functionality/increased cost for all those that are not on the ActiveTrader platform while trading. I no longer have access to Limit Orders. I can only do simple buy/sell orders.

Taken from latest Terms of Use dated May 8, 2019

"As a note, Gemini ActiveTrader™ is available for select customers."

There's no additional information provided as to what the qualifications are to gain access to ActiveTrader. I have support tickets in to address this. Will post an update when I know more.

I asked some of my work friends if they've heard anything about Bitcoin lately...

    Posted: 11 May 2019 09:20 PM PDT

None of them had. IMO this is great, as last time it was topping they were all asking me about it. Since then the technology has been integrated into so many spaces. Most of the modern world has at least heard of Bitcoin by this point. But the fact that no one had heard about its price consolidation and steady uptrend lately gives me hope that we have room to run. Good Hodln' folks.

Anyone else buy a bunch of bitcoin for currency purposes back when it was <$20 and daydream about having held them?

    Posted: 11 May 2019 09:34 PM PDT

Sheesh. I probably owned and transferred 200-300 BTC at prices in the double digits.
