Stop treating cryptocurrencies like sports teams Posted: 11 Apr 2019 08:51 PM PDT This is a post out of frustration more than anything so sorry in advance if this seems like a rant .... it is. I have a crypto account on reddit (not this one) that I will regularly use to try and post helpful advise and information I find about various altcoins/up and coming projects. I always do my research in great depth looking at every possible aspect and I try my best to keep things as balanced as I can (although I may possibly show excitement if it is a really promising project). I'm not trying to make people buy into projects, just looking for a healthy discussion about the ones I post about and to share whatever interesting and promising things I have found with the community. I would say on average literally days of research and digging have gone into a lot of the posts I have made over the various crypto subreddits but unfortunately almost every single post I create or discussion I try to start is met with this idiotic mentality of basically treating cryptocurrencies as sports teams... Days of research and an in depth write up over a coin gets slammed into the ground with abuse and downvotes, not because they have read what I have written and given it fair thought (of which I would be totally OK with) but because they don't like "coin A" as they have invested in/like "coin B", or even worse because "coin A" is a threat to "coin B" which they have invested in. Posts are downvoted literally because a certain symbol is in the title. In reverse to this, people will also upvote and promote posts that promote the most shady and immoral projects, purely because they have a bag of it they are desperate to shift. Cryptocurrency discussion on Reddit is the actual manifestation of cancer in it's written form and it is such a shame because Reddit could be the ultimate tool for sharing a wealth of knowledge and experience. Reddit you have it all wrong when it comes to crypto and all it is going to do in the long run is damage your potential earnings. [link] [comments]

So I stumbled upon something rather interesting. Posted: 11 Apr 2019 07:22 PM PDT the US federal reserve, for whatever reason, has a pdf regarding the cypherium blockchain (has anyone even heard these guys? Apparently they're partnered with IBM) Why? Do they plan on using their technology for federal purposes? The federal reserve is technically a private entity. Could they actually back a private cryptocurrency or buy their tech? Seems strange to me. Thoughts? [link] [comments]
The Vechain/ambrosus story is still not cleared up Posted: 11 Apr 2019 01:55 PM PDT i am a long time supporter of amb, since end of 2017 (long time regarding the cryptospace i suppose). i have been banned on r/ambrosus and on ambrosus TG for asking for clarification about the following questions: how can a legal entity in switzerland (i am swiss) be changing their name and relocating their shares without the knowledge of the CEO? answer: its not possible what happened: as of swiss legal documents, ambrosus was renamed to vechain and the rights of the ambrosus trademark were switched from A. Versetti (current amb CEO) to Dr stefan Meyer (CTO of amb). So if any amb holder can explain this to me: how is it possible to change the name of your company to a competitioners name and foremost: if the ownership switches, then all parties have to give a signature, especially if it happens in swiss handelsregister. CEO of ambrosus said it was a former work colleague with no ties to ambrosus supply chain who did it. but the overwriting of shares from versetti to meyer are visible in the handelsregister (trading registry). so theres no way, that stefan meyer and angel versetti couldnt have be aware of this. Fellow Amb holders: please correct me if i made a logical mistake, i sincerely hope i made one. im thankful for any clearing facts on this matter. Edit: paging u/angelversetti [link] [comments]

Doing your own research is not enough. Posted: 11 Apr 2019 09:23 AM PDT I'm recycling a previous comment in large part because I think this needs its own discussion. One of the biggest problem with crypto is mis/disinformation. Journalism has gone downhill hard in the last decade, partially because of the proliferation of dubious sources and the watering down of professional reporting with a torrent of at best semi-true garbage. Even then, cryptojournalism is in a league of its own when it comes to how laughably bad it is. Most news 'outlets' exclusively produce:
It is sad to see how little development there has been in the media regarding distributed ledger technology, but the low quality of reporting can be explained quite elegantly. First off, conflicts of interest abound and are rarely reported, leading to a lack of trust that is reinforced by rampant tribalism and wishful thinking. In other words, echo chambers are formed to reinforce investment decisions and conflicting data is rejected. Secondly, in-depth understanding of DLT alone is rare and understanding of both DLT and economics is essentially inexistent, leading to misinformed articles that fill the gap with opinions and assumptions. The result is a hot mess of anchors being briefed about BTC price action 20 minutes before going on air despite zero interest or prior knowledge, a never-ending stream of articles advertising scams and never any context for retail investors. Without neutral experts explaining the real impact of X or Y events/breakthroughs, the hurdles they need to overcome, the competitors working on similar projects and the perceived effect of a successful implementation, how are we to know who are the real leaders in this field? We aren't, and we get a market like this one: where nothing makes sense and con artists thrive. As a community, we need to help each other and encourage newbies not only to do their own research, but to be extremely critical and remain wary of conflicts of interest. As a subreddit, we have advanced quite a bit: arguments for/against known projects help with transparency a lot, for example. I believe we can go farther and bring even more clarity, however, by identifying outright false claims and generally poor journalism to establish higher standards for the space.
