    Some Bitcoin Propaganda

    Posted: 28 Apr 2019 11:10 PM PDT

Think for a second about how crazy using a credit card is. Every time you make a purchase online, you literally type in your private keys and pray someone doesn’t steal it. At restaurants you hand your private keys to your waiter and they walk off. This is why we Bitcoin.

Think for a second how crazy using credit is. Every purchase is literally creating more money, diluting the value of everyone else’s money.

Trust as a currency.... the USA $ is based on trust alone. Nothing else. That trust can fade just like in 2008 when banks halted lending. MATH can never lose trust.

    Posted: 28 Apr 2019 05:09 PM PDT

Inflation is a hidden tax. Good money replaces bad money. Don't you want a currency based on the ultimate trust (math) and agreed upon inflation that decreases till 2140 unless consensus agrees to do a 0.5%. We are in the early days and don't need to worry about inflation. We get to enjoy the adoption years.

Future generations that aren't born yet will look back on this thread to see how we judged bitcoin in its early days. We relied on math as trust over human judgment (central banks).

Where can I advertise face to face bitcoin for cash transactions?

    Posted: 29 Apr 2019 12:07 AM PDT

    Other than Bisq and locabitcoins.com?

Local bitcoin's ID requirement to post even the smallest offer is totally obnoxious and anti-privacy. Bisq is awesome but not a lot of activity yet.

Bitcoin on Expedia : Revive it

    Posted: 28 Apr 2019 11:50 PM PDT

Expedia removed the crypto payment option in June 2018. Please, someone who has some power and a good network or a crypo payment company/custodial, could you work with them or at least contact them to try to put Bitcoin as a payment option again?

Also Booking, someone should try to contact them.

Maybe we have already companies trying ? Someone knows?

Limited block size is necessary for the long term security model of Bitcoin.

    Posted: 28 Apr 2019 01:17 PM PDT

Limited block size is necessary to build fee pressure and finance POW security after the coin rewards drops to zero or near zero. Why does nobody ever mention this in the context of the big blocks vs small blocks debate ? This is by far the most compelling and obvious argument. Unlimited block size and cheap transactions simply does not work and can never work, there needs to be POW security. Why they never mention this ?

    • Any question about Bitcoin is fair game.

And don't forget to check out /r/BitcoinBeginners

The journey continues...how to convert a public node to a tor node?

    Posted: 28 Apr 2019 09:47 PM PDT

I have been running a bitcoin full node on my raspi pi (raspbian) for a while now, but it has been public. I am beginning to be more privacy conscious thanks to listening to podcasts like citizen bitcoin and now I think I am ready to be exposed to TOR. I am looking for a guide on how to convert my node through command line to run as a hidden tor service. Thank you. Bonus if it is as newbie friendly as possible.

Eliminate multiple hops in LN ?

    Posted: 28 Apr 2019 11:13 PM PDT

This maybe a dumb question, why can't we solve much of LN complexity by eliminating the NP problem by automatically opening a direct channel to whoever we pay on LN transparently in the wallet ? And without doing an expensive main chain txn each time but rather using channel factories or sub-channels ? You open a main chain funded channel once and then use that to fund direct payment sub channels on LN ?
