The probability of becoming a validator in a post-Serenity world for those with only 32 Ether?

According to Preston Vanloon (of Prysmatic Labs), Serenity will have 1024 shards, 111 validators per committee, 113,664 validators (at the start), and 3,637,246 ETH locked up (at the start).

Assuming an Ether supply of 110 Million post-Serenity, it appears only 3.3% of all Ether will be able to participate at the beginning of Serenity. The "number" of validators, then, is highly misleading since users with vastly larger sums of Ether will dominate the probability distribution due to stake splitting. So, for example, users with 100,000 Ether will have 3,125 opportunities to be selected, compared to the baseline average, which is likely a single user with a single opportunity to be selected, due to having only the bare minimum of 32 Ether. Accordingly, we don't know how many "unique" validators there will be, as those with the largest shares will radically out-compete the little guys. This seems especially problematic given how a single computer can run multiple validator instances, which reduces key obstacles for larger stakers.

Based on these rough estimations, it seems to me the validator pool, while seemingly quite large to naive observers, will in reality be extremely narrow. That is, one could easily imagine there being less than 100 unique persons controlling the consensus process; considering the pseudonymous and starkly unbalanced nature of the coin distribution at genesis.

While I understand these limitations may only be "at the start", and greater participation might be possible later on, that doesn't actually reassure me. Regardless of how one massages these numbers, the fact remains that the vast majority of users will be unable to participate (in a fair manner) in the consensus process. I find this to be an unacceptable trade-off. Don't take this the wrong way, but this seems like a serious flaw and likely vector of centralization in the present design.

Am I reading this situation accurately? If not, why not? And if so, what are some pragmatic solutions to increase the success rate of participation in a post-Serenity world? I'd appreciate an open and critical discussion on this topic.

What are the current solutions for running ML models on Ethereum?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2019 02:20 PM PST

We are a team that is building a blockchain that can run on GPU in order to enable ML model inference to happen directly on-chain. Our ultimate goal is to decentralize AI by creating an ecosystem/marketplace of ML models for Dapp developers. With genuine curiosity, we are wondering:

Since Ethereum can only run on CPUs, which are not practical for running nontrivial machine learning models, what are the current solutions for running ML models on Ethereum?

Blockade Games are creating a cyperpunk RPG on a Loom sidechain. The earlier you sign up to the waitlist the better key you will get when it releases. You can use the key to open exclusive chests or even BUY the final boss, with custom game code. It feels like they are doing something pretty radical, anyway you can sign up to the waitlist here:
