Need help with Yubiko keys. Google refuses to see them. Any guidance appreciated. Posted: 28 Feb 2019 10:33 AM PST Hey there. I am not certain if this is the right place. If it is not, I would really appreciate you're pointing me to the right sub. I purchased two Yubikeys, One an NFC, one a tiny USBC key to secure my Google account. When I i go into the 'Google Account / Security / 2-Step Verification' settings to attempt to register my keys to the account, the process goes smoothly enough until I get to the part where Google says "please insert your key" and starts a spinning circle. When I insert either Yubikey key and press the gold spot, I usually get a pop-up window that asks permission for Google to access the key and I click OK. The Google screen never changes or acknowledges the key, the circle just keeps spinning. Sometimes I will see a "something went wrong" error in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen but usually I do not. Sometimes when I refresh the page I do see that there is an unnamed key now registered to the account. If I attempt to rename that key all I get is the error "something went wrong". I have to turn 2-step verification on and off again to remove the mystery key. I have probably done this 30 or 40 times now. I have restarted the process, restarted the browser completely, tried using IE, rebooted my laptop, tried it on my cell phone. Nothing seems to help. Also
I'm sure that you can imagine the frustration and I would appreciate any suggestions or advice you might have. Update: It is now working. No idea why or how, but one of the many iterations just worked. I got the pop-up permissions window, I said ok, and Google came right back with the expected window asking me to give the key a name. One of the comments below suggested disconnecting my external hdmi monitor. No idea if that had anything to do with it, but it was disconnected at the time that it worked.... Thanks for all of your help. G'night [link] [comments] |
Help: Bcrypt Algorithm Explanation Posted: 28 Feb 2019 06:25 PM PST Hi All! I'm struggling to understand how Bcrypt works.. it seems a tad like magic to me & I was hoping someone could offer an in depth explanation of its inner-workings, per se. Visuals would be a huge plus if possible :) Thank you! [link] [comments] |
