Prepare for the May 2019 Bitcoin Cash protocol upgrade with Bitcoin ABC 0.19.0

    Posted: 20 Feb 2019 02:34 PM PST

Keeping in line with the Bitcoin Cash roadmap, the Bitcoin ABC team is proud to present the May 2019 protocol upgrade release. Bitcoin ABC 0.19.0 is now available and can be downloaded at: https://download.bitcoinabc.org/0.19.0/

The May upgrade focuses on two aspects:

    1. Schnorr signatures improve privacy and performance, for both single- and multiple-signature transactions.

    2. Segwit recovery, with the last upgrade, the CLEANSTACK rule enforcement made it impossible to recovery coins accidentally sent to Segwit (BTC) addresses. The recovery mode allows you to spend once again with the help of a miner.

We believe that the basic design of Bitcoin Cash is sound, and does not need any radical change. However, this does not mean it is perfect. It is prudent to make incremental improvements to the system with technically sound design and careful engineering. By implementing optimizations and protocol upgrades, we can enable peer-to-peer digital cash to scale many orders of magnitude beyond current limits.

To become a solid base for application development and innovation, Bitcoin Cash needs to continuously improve and compete. At Bitcoin ABC, we are working diligently building a technical foundation to empower Bitcoin Cash to be the best money the world has ever seen.

With BTC transactions hitting new highs, we should remember that Segwit will never bring us 4-megabyte blocks. How do people still get this wrong?

Community Idea - Would you like something like this? If there is sufficient demand, I will organize.

    Posted: 21 Feb 2019 12:15 AM PST

So I assume some people may know me as a hardcore Bitcoin Cash supporter who is fighting really hard for the p2p money for the world idea. I am literally obsessed judging by the fact that I can't stop working on BCH stuff everyday. Now, I would like to explore the idea of coordinating a community Bitcoin Cash portal.

I have acquired the domain name "1BCH.com" and was exploring the idea of creating a community around it. Articles/Videos about Bitcoin Cash, how BTC was sabotaged, chatrooms/forums, wikipedia, a place to feature new Bitcoin Cash projects, BCH merchandise, etc.

I am planning a lot more including working with some manufacturer to produce exclusive Bitcoin Cash Phones but these requires capital, which I currently do not have. One way is to charge membership fees and see if there is sufficient demand for them. If enough people is interested, I could work with the manufacturer to produce these Bitcoin Cash branded phones or other merchandise.

Membership will include an actual card physically mailed to you (optional), with your own QR code at the front, and at the back of the card, may list some websites which you could get discounts. The reason for this is because one of the best ways to spread Bitcoin Cash is through word of mouth and when you're with friends and family, you can take out this Bitcoin Cash card and start saying how wonderful it is, lol. Membership also gives you your very own xxx@1bch.com which will be displayed on the card too.

I'm happy to bounce ideas off you guys and see if there is a better way to promote Bitcoin Cash.

Used Electron Cash 3.2 to Split Coins but something went wrong... help :D

    Posted: 20 Feb 2019 06:02 PM PST

So - I followed the guide to split the coins using Electron Cash. I sent myself some dust using a faucet, and also some BCH using other accounts.

Now I went to the SV branch to send the coins to an exchange, and after doing so, the transaction is showing on both Branches. Something is not right.

It looks like all my coins both BCH and BSV are going to the exchange's BSV wallet - an exchange that will likely do nothing about it (Bitfinex).

Update: In case anyone else has this problem: DO NOT MOVE YOUR BSV COINS FIRST. Move your BCH and leave your BSV put first in order to properly Split your coins. In u/lechango 's words "making the transaction on the BSV chain, it ignored those inputs from the faucet because they aren't valid on BSV"

"From a purely technical perspective most of what people think of as "privacy features" are risky to implement, with a high chance of a bug leading to the destruction of the entire system. Monero has already had one inflation bug, and Zcash has had two (including the one caught just prior to initial release)."
