Will Ripple's XRP Thrive In 2019?

Does it ever feel like its XRP vs. all other cryptos?

    Posted: 19 Dec 2018 09:56 AM PST

Any news outlet or piece of media I see either mentions BTC, ETH, and a bunch of other cryptos and just seem to pretend like XRP is not sitting there blatently in the #2 spot staring them in the face.

Or, on the flip side, it's an XRP positive article and it doesn't mention any other cryptos. The sentiment in these pieces is often overtly, if not explicitly said, that XRP will be THE CRYPTO to rule them all and every other coin basically might as well not exist.

Ripple Insights - 2018: The Year of Breakthroughs in Blockchain

As an analogy everyone thinks we are in the late 90s/early 2000s of the internet boom. We may actually be more like in the late 80s/early 90s.

BTC was the founding of the technology. We're at the point where people are starting to understand there's some value there but the general public is not using it yet. We don't have people complaining about dialup modems yet. We don't have the majority of businesses plugged into it yet. The majority of the population doesn't see the use of it yet.

This is both scary and wonderful.

Scary because it may take a lot longer than people want (even though I do think it will move much faster than the internet bc of exponential growth of technology). Also scary because there will be a lot of change to come. Even though I have a lot of faith and hope riding on XRP/Ripple, your actual Google's, Amazon's, Etc, that are the giant player's today, may not even be created yet. Or it may be that one of those little alt-coins that almost no-one knows about winds up being the one that comes out of top at the end.

Wonderful because if that is the case, the size of the market as a whole is still minuscule compared to what it will become. As hard as such numbers are to fathom, the market cap on crypto could become 1,000s of times what it is today. Before you indignantly scoff. This is an entirely new asset. We don't know how to properly judge it or what value it will ultimately bring to the planet (and beyond). It may be valued in the quadrillions some day. (OFC that's on the assumption the dollar is even still used to value things)
