- PoW is inherently more expensive then PoS. Since PoW relies on arbitrary computation, this cost has to be accounted for in the token economic design. This has to either take the form of higher fees or inflation when compared to PoS.

What prediction markets related to the Ethereum ecosystem would you like to see next year? Posted: 31 Dec 2018 07:43 AM PST Hi guys! The title is self explanatory. We'd love to know what kind of prediction market questions you'd be interested in trading, particularly around pressing themes in the Ethereum ecosystem. It would be great if you can keep in mind two types of outcomes while formulating your questions: scalar and categorical. Categorical markets have defined outcomes, as in outcome a), b), or c). The outcome in scalar markets is a range, so participants would take a "long position" (expect the outcome to be higher), or a "short position" (expect the outcome to be lower). So, what prediction markets would you like to trade? You can read more about our recent developments in Prediction Markets in this blog post. Join our community chat here and ask us any questions you might have! [link] [comments]

Managing nonces when sending high volume of concurrent transactions Posted: 31 Dec 2018 01:31 PM PST This seems like a fairly major issue for developing server-side logic / an API that sends transactions that (I think) remains unresolved after nearly 3 years: https://github.com/ethereum/go-ethereum/issues/2880 Does anyone have a decent solution for sending many transactions from the same address, potentially near concurrently? The best solutions in the thread are just finding ways to try and manually track it, which ultimately desynchronizes when something fails and there is a nonce gap. [link] [comments]
What is the value of letting average users be light clients? Posted: 31 Dec 2018 04:41 PM PST I'm trying to think from a use case perspective how the success of projects such as mustekala from metamask or other projects attempting to bring light client to average users will help evolve the ethereum ecosystem. What new capabilities and use cases will be enabled with simple enablement of light clients? [link] [comments]
