Bitcoin can either be permissionless OR it can be compliant with government. Bitcoin cannot simultaneously be both.

I've been working in the Bitcoin space since 2012. For the last three and a half years I've been working on OpenBazaar to help make completely free trade a thing. I also help contribute to Bitcoin Cash development in my spare time and forked the btcd full node into bchd. Ask away.

It sure has been on an upward train for the past days. Can BCH sustain the momentum?

☝️ ☝️ This is the good news I need and I would like to read about.

Can we reduce the big price swings news a little, even when it is good news ? I have a feeling this is not what cryptocurrency was about from the start.

Does anyone else find it amusing that even BSV is ranked ahead of LTC?

    Posted: 20 Dec 2018 05:43 PM PST

In a way, Craig Wright provided a natural selection process whereby all the gullible shmucks got wiped out by moving to SV. All those who could see through the idiocy will be well rewarded.

For those that say this is the exact same thing that happened with the BTC -> BCH split:

The BTC camp's thoughts were based on disinformation and censorship; the thoughts of ours are based on evidence, discussed in a free speech environment. Big difference. (great answer from miles37)

Coinbase volume for BCH is higher than any other legit exchange. Seems like some institutional money is betting big on BCH and buying hundreds of thousands of coins each day.

    Posted: 20 Dec 2018 02:03 PM PST

BCH is what I bought in 2013.

    Posted: 20 Dec 2018 08:03 AM PST

Arguing about what is "the real bitcoin" is semantics.

What I thought I was buying in 2013 is what BCH is now.

PSA: The Bigger the Government the Smaller the Person

    Posted: 20 Dec 2018 03:40 PM PST

I saw this on a bumper sticker a while ago and it has been on my mind lately so I thought I'd share along with a couple other nuggets:

Wealth comes from people. People came first and can exist without governments, but the opposite isn't true. Governments have nothing to give on their own. (keep in mind the next time any gov promises "free" stuff)

The United States was called a "grand experiment" because it was the first country intentionally set up to allow the power and wealth in society to remain bottom up and not top down.

Ideas to be mindful of as Bitcoin Cash seeks to return to the people the most important power: control over money.

I'm flying to NYC in Feb, and would like to go to a concert but they will only take US billing address. Tickets for BCH trade up for grabs.

    Posted: 20 Dec 2018 12:24 PM PST

    Hey BCH lovers.

EDIT: A kind user has totally hooked me up. It cost me 0.00042 $ to transfer the value to them, and I probably even overpaid that. I had my tickets within a couple of minutes.

As an aside, any Bitcoin Cash places to go in New York while i'm there?

    Cheers.

    Stephan Livera interviews Adam Back

    Posted: 21 Dec 2018 12:07 AM PST

Thank you Stephan Livera for your recent interview with Adam Back, published Dec. 18.

SLP42 ADAM BACK, CEO OF BLOCKSTREAM – BLOCKSTREAM SATELLITE, TIM MAY, BITCOIN PRIVACY https://stephanlivera.com/episode/42

I want to say, the interviewer did a great job. But honestly, an interview with Adam Back isn't easy to sit through. You might fall asleep.

Here are some timestamps with a couple comments.

    • 1:19 - Why bitcoin over satellite?
    • 5:35 - On the structure of Blockstream satellite
    • 8:40 - On the satellite API
    • 10:18 - Using Blockstream satellite to encapsulate messages, including encrypted (i.e. point-to-point or direct) messages, including with Lightning
    • 16:27 - What sort of cost to send a message?
    • 18:29 - "It's inherently a broadcast mechanism, so if there's data that needs to go to many people, it's lower cost on a per recipient basis. Bitcoin satellite data doesn't increase in cost if a million people receive it, or ten million, or a hundred million." (I just find this interesting.)
    • 18:52 - Is this satellite system centralized?
    • 22:05 - Neither the interviewer nor Adam really differentiate between censorship resistance and privacy. Are they the same thing?
    • 24:31 - Adam describes how to set up a Blockstream satellite connection.
    • 39:03 - "Pay 2 End Point"
    • 43:00 - "Confidential Transactions"
    • 47:25 - Is full privacy for on chain bitcoin infeasible?
    • 50:20 - Is sufficiently powerful quantum computing decades away?
    • 55:08 - Privacy on bitcoin.
    • 58:08 - Technical fundamentals of bitcoin. Some talk about price, trading, volatility.

I'm posting this here because it's in the public domain.

My personal opinion, despite the very good interviewer, listening to this really explains a lot about BTC.
