03/Jan/2019 Bitcoin users on brink of second bailout for exchanges Posted: 10 Dec 2018 11:08 AM PST The time has come for us to test what we have created. Trust in numbers yet we trust in exchanges, in people, in corporations. On the 3rd of January 2019, 10 years on, let us all withdraw our BTC to wallets we control. Let's see if it is all there, let us see who fails, let us see the network work. We lose nothing, we risk nothing, those companies and exchanges that cannot be trusted will be exposed. We must assert control, we must prove this is ours. We need a time to coordinate, 16:00 UTC 03/Jan/2019 is as good as any other. By this hour let us have concluded our transactions and hold our coins in our wallets. 04/Jan/2019 we return to business as usual, with renewed confidence. [link] [comments]

With chatter of Wall Street getting involved...Not your keys, not your bitcoin Posted: 10 Dec 2018 09:01 PM PST As Wall Street start to get involved I fear it won't be long before we experience another Mt Gox type scenario due to "paper bitcoin" being traded and when withdrawals increase there may not be enough actual bitcoin to go around causing an exchange to shut down leaving people without their coins.... Just a friendly reminder...Not your keys, not your bitcoin. [link] [comments]
Mother Jones on a bitcoin bashing spree Posted: 10 Dec 2018 07:22 PM PST First: I'm not trying to make this a political topic. I'm trying to create discussion on understanding roadblocks to bitcoin and crypto currency adoption in general. I'm progressive, politically. I'm also a crypto enthusiast. If you think I'm pretending to be left but that I'm really here just to bash MJ, then look at my leftist comments on r/politics over the last year or so. So, it's a bit weird to me to disagree so vehemently with people I usually agree with politically about a subject. You might say that speaks to my naiveté. Fair enough. Anyway, I just find it incredibly odd that progressives, who claim to pride themselves on keeping an open mind, embracing technological solutions to human challenges, are so batshit crazy against crypto. I always thought that one area of overlap between progressives and libertarians was their battle against banks and fiat and centralized currency. Empower the people, right? It's weird to see progressive so against something that could actually help people and advance their cause. My guess is that it's because there is some perceived "right wing advocacy" of the technology that they just associate it with being technology created by right wing minds and have just shut off all critical thinking as a result? Here are the articles, which have all come out this month - unusual for MJ which is usually focused on progressive causes: https://www.motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2018/12/bitcoin-strikes-back/ https://www.motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2018/12/the-bitcoin-con-may-soon-be-over/ This shit has me fuming, today. Maybe I'm late to the game, and ya'll are like no shirt shitlock. But, for those that would like to be less condescending today, I'd love to hear your thoughts - positive thoughts preferred, but otherwise welcome of course. [link] [comments]
Can Bitcoin survive a large solar flare followed by a colossal coronal mass ejection? Posted: 10 Dec 2018 09:27 PM PST July 2012 was the largest solar storm in history, it almost hit earth. They say if it hit the earth, it would have sent us back to the stone ages. [link] [comments]
It's Time To Take Control Back Posted: 10 Dec 2018 11:40 AM PST Hello fellow Bitcoiners, As more and more people have been posting about repatriating our bitcoins from these exchanges / centralized service providers , I'm starting to feel that there is true change in the air. I'm also inclined to believe that if this movement is truly successful by gaining enough traction then we will be able to take control of the destiny of the price of Bitcoin expressed in fiat currency and simultaneously allowing bitcoin to (eventually) realize its full potential free from the shackles of the legacy financial establishments that are currently in control. I hope you all join us in this upcoming movement and be sure to move every single Satoshi off any of these exchanges or centralized services that you may have any Bitcoin in by its 10-year anniversary date. Additionally running a Bitcoin node is extremely healthy for our ecosystem so if possible I would implore you to do so. Happy HODLing! [link] [comments] |
