- Could someone send me $0.5eth for gas? I am trying to transfer my tokens to trade them but i have no eth, i'll pay back as soon as i transfer it to the exchange and can trade them.
The more I read about ETH, the more I believe it’s far superior to BTC. Posted: 25 Nov 2018 04:12 PM PST What I see BTC lacking is mostly utility, and on top of that the transactions themselves often do not represent what BTC is supposed to be, eg cheap and quick to use. On the other hand ETH seems to be building a platform for application while at the same time having a token. One can argue, it's utility can be a reason for having some form of intrinsic value derived from it. Discuss. [link] [comments]

Posted: 25 Nov 2018 04:06 AM PST For those that don't know Formality yet, it is ridiculously simple, total functional language featuring formal proofs. It can be used to write applications and smart-contract code and to prove mathematical invariants about their behaviors. It will replace both JavaScript and Solidity on the upcoming Moon Browser. Formality is very resource-efficient (so that smart-contracts don't waste gas) and fast (so that apps won't put your coolers in panic mode). Previously, though, writing a class of fast Formality code, those that "fuse during runtime", required the programmer to use λ-encodings, which are hard and ugly (see yourself here). Now, we're finally able to fuse native datatypes. The resulting "fast" Formality code is more similar to high-level languages like Haskell, and much prettier overall. Take a moment to explore the examples and make your own judgement. For more complete information, check the /r/haskell thread! [link] [comments]
Is is possible to pay Gas fee for someone else's wallet (which holds only an obscure ERC20 token)? Posted: 25 Nov 2018 01:14 PM PST This would be like a collect call, in a way. Is this even possible? I am assuming not (since wallet owner must hold sign the tx?), but thought it would be interesting to ask. So even if some day there would be a way for ERC20 token to pay for gas (this I assume will happen via a relayer such as 0x or AirSwap), this will only apply to ERC20 tokens which are traded (and thus has some value - even if minimal). But what about ERC20 tokens which are valueless? Example for this can be an obscure token, or even a stable-coin like USDC/GUSD. Thanks for the input. [link] [comments]

Posted: 25 Nov 2018 05:43 AM PST I have a couple of questions about the scalability and nature of Ethereum 2.0 (serenity). How many shards will it be able to support and can each of the shards have its own consensus algorithm? [link] [comments]
