[Altcoin Discussion] Sunday, November 25, 2018

    Posted: 24 Nov 2018 08:05 PM PST

Thread topics include, but are not limited to:

    • Discussion related to recent events
    • Technical analysis, trading ideas & strategies
    • General questions about altcoins

    Thread guidelines:

    • Be excellent to each other.
    • All regular rules for this subreddit apply, except for number 2. This, and only this, thread is exempt from the requirement that all discussion must relate to bitcoin trading.
    • This is for high quality discussion of altcoins. All shilling or obvious pumping/dumping behavior will result in an immediate one day ban. This is your only warning.
    • No discussion about specific ICOs. Established coins only.

If you're not sure what kind of discussion belongs in this thread, here are some example posts. News, TA, and sentiment analysis are great, too.

    First publishing of the CryptoClassifiedIndex

    Posted: 25 Nov 2018 07:00 AM PST

    Hello, all.

I hope you saw my post from the other day exploring this idea. I've decided to create a new subreddit to help keep the information together and to prevent excessive posting in the other subreddits. I hope this will help /r/bitcoinmarkets keep track of real-world expansion or contraction of cryptocurrency adoption in the US market.

In order to help gauge market adoption I've created the CryptoClassifiedIndex. This index aims to track classified ad postings that accept cryptocurrency as payment for goods or services. The ads are sourced from a leading classified ad publisher and the markets include the 12 largest US metropolitan areas.

Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Bitcoin-based smart contract protocol Rootstock (RSK) is integrating with spin-off project RIF OS

    Posted: 24 Nov 2018 01:20 PM PST

Bitcoin-based smart contract protocol Rootstock (RSK) is integrating with spin-off project RIF OS to expand its scope of operations, the parties confirmed in two separate blog posts Nov. 18.

As part of the deal, RIF Labs, the structure behind off-chain infrastructure layer RIF OS, will acquire RSK's counterpart RSK Labs. RIF started out as a side project from the same executives who held senior positions at RSK.

Together, they plan to enable the RSK protocol to go beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum network support and include various P2P functions.

Turkey looks to Bitcoin as Lira Collapse Continues

    Posted: 24 Nov 2018 11:50 PM PST

The Turkish Lira has plummeted nearly 30% in the past week versus the US Dollar. Much of the move was the result of an all-out trade war with the United States which saw tariffs as high as 50% on some items like steel. Turkey has retaliated increasing tariffs on consumer goods, and the Turkish government has been encouraging protests which included shooting iPhones and tearing up fake US Dollars.

Bitcoin is demonstrating its purpose as an alternative to FIAT when central banks and governments fail. It may take more situations like Venezuela and Turkey until we see significant adoption, but both cases prove BTC as a viable alternative.
