The way online shopping with a credit card works is like giving out your Bitcoin private address to whomever you buy from anything, and telling him "pls only take $x then delete the key"

    Posted: 21 Nov 2018 03:49 PM PST

    And that's fundamentally flawed

EDIT: I see you points, but two things:

    1. I was talking about debit cards too, sorry for the confusion

    2. Here in my country you eat the losses yourself in case of fraud, even though there is a VISA/MasterCard logo on your card

Also, I like the idea of generated temporary card numbers, that some banks have. 3D Secure is cool too, but only if it's enforced everywhere, which it isn't.

Yes the market is down, but it's the holidays and giving feels better than receiving.

I ran into a homeless lady at a coffee house while I'm out of town on personal business for the day. She asked if I could spare a dollar, I told her I couldn't because I never carry cash, but I asked if she was hungry and she said yes. I went into the coffee shop and bought a muffin, a pastry, a grain health bar and a water. I converted my btc and payed for the gift. She was very thankful as I handed her the bag and she walked off.

It felt good and no one noticed, I tell you only in hopes that it may inspire you.

Then I ran into an old friend who I hadn't seen in awhile and he informed me him and his girlfriend are getting married this weekend... I congratulated them and went about my way in the coffee shop... I thought about all the times he helped me for free with charity events over the years and felt a wedding present was in order. I went back over and asked if he had a crypto wallet and he didn't but remembers me talking about it back in 2011 and let me download one for him... I gave him a small talk and then sent him some btc as a wedding gift. He was very surprised and hugger me and said thanks. It was nice to pay it forward to a good person who deserved a kind gesture.

The market is down, but it's the holiday and life is what we make it. Be kind and have a happy holiday.
