It’s so beautiful to see ‘miners are nodes’ reasoning works in practice. Only 8% of BTC nodes upgraded to vulnerability patch.

People who lack logical thinking must see the evidence in the real world to understand the logic.

Those who still don't get it after seeing the evidence....may just go to bed and do nothing.

With All the Bitcoin Cash Adoption

    Posted: 30 Sep 2018 05:34 PM PDT

Saying the Bitcoin blockchain must only be used for financial transactions is as limited thinking as saying computers must only be used scientific computing.

    Posted: 30 Sep 2018 12:15 PM PDT

I think as satisfying as it is to keep the blockchain "pure" with only financial transactions, the reality is the bitcoin blockchain will and should hold much more varied data. When a blockchain is secured by PoW algorithm it makes much more sense to combine all the hashrate on as few silos as possible. Imagine havine 20 different chains secured by PoW - each one is 20 times easier to attack individually - but if all these chains combined now they are 20 times more difficult to attack. I think it will be the natural progression that all PoW systems will want to combine - so this will include financial, social media, video, smart contracts - and much more.

    I'm getting stressed about Bitcoin(BCH)

    Posted: 30 Sep 2018 04:07 PM PDT

Stressed that I don't have the funds to buy more! Other than to replace what I spend of course! I still feel like this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. It's the BTC I fell for 3 years ago.

    Theme of the day: "adoption".

Please beware of the difference between being against Lightning and being against USING LIGHTNING to justify changes to the protocol. You don't have to be against Lightning to acknowledge that for LN to be used to justify any changes, it must first be proven to work and to be necessary.

    Posted: 30 Sep 2018 05:43 PM PDT

    (i) Solve the routing problem, (ii) prove BCH does not scale on chain and LN is needed. Then we can start discussing ways to implement LN. We cannot prove or refute (ii) without first removing the block size limit and letting the network test itself.

    Schroëdinger's cat:

if you place a cat and something that could kill the cat (a radioactive atom) in a box and sealed it, you would not know if the cat was dead or alive until you opened the box, so that until the box was opened, the cat was (in a sense) both "dead and alive".

Discussing whether the cat is alive or dead with box closed leads only to divisiveness and endless fights since no one has proof of either version.

In BCH as well, to determine whether LN is needed or not we must first open the box, aka remove the limit and see how the network performs. Discussing LN before removing the limit is like putting the cart before the horse, unscientific, unnecessary and divisive.

Adoption in Thailand, Rayong, Bang Saray, and Pattaya. Are there request for what I have to try, specific for BCH? And tips for merchants who accept BCH are welcome.

    Posted: 30 Sep 2018 06:50 PM PDT

Wednesday I will start a little crypto Trip in East-Thailand. Planning is for 2 weeks, but can be extended.

I go as a crypto maximalist, no coin maximalist. I have preferred coins, but this trip is for learning, improve adoption, and make people believe in crypto. If the trust in crypto is there, then we can discuss about or favourite coinn(s).

    • First I will visit Rayong City. Rayong is famous for fruit plantations and you have a lot of Europeans/Americans working in the Chemical and car industry. Because of all the international Expats, Rayong can be a great start for adoption. Not industrial fruit export, export directly between farmer and buyer, is mainly to China.

    • Pattaya is a very famous tourist location, specific for the beach, restaurants, and nightlife. All the tourists, great place to start adoption.

    • Bang Saray is between Rayong and Pattaya. It's more for people who like some tourist activity, but who think Pattaya is to much from it. Europeans, Americans, working in Rayong, and if they like the beach, will search for a beach house in Bang Saray.

Before the trip, my plans for using crypto, BCH.

    In Rayong:

    • hotel, booked a hotel, but I can not find a hotel, what accept crypto.

    • restaurant, found no restaurant what accept crypto

    • nightlife, found no bars/pubs what accept crypto

    • Crypto ATM, no ATM

    In Bang Saray:

    • Will stay with crypto friends

    • hotel, I can not find a hotel who accept crypto.

    • restaurant, found no restaurant what accept crypto

    • nightlife, found no bars/pubs what accept crypto

    • Crypto ATM, no ATM

    In Pattaya:

    • First will stay with crypto friends.

    • Hotel, found 2 hotel(s) what accept BCH, when you walk in and book in the hotel or website from the hotel, but I have to check it.

    • Restaurants, found 5 restaurants what accept BCH, but I have to check out. Websites say accept crypto, but when I contact restaurant(s), no we don't accept crypto.

    • Nightlife, found 4 bars what accept BCH, but I have to check out. Here the same, website says accept crypto, but when contact the locations, accept no crypto.

    • Crypto ATM, there are 2 ATM's, but I have to check the locations.

I have 2 questions for this sub:

    • Who know merchants in Rayong, Bang Saray or Pattaya who accept crypto and can give me the location, best on google maps?

    • Are there some special requests for, when I can use BCH? Do I have to ask some questions, or where do I have to take special attention for?

For me very important is of the restaurants/bars/pubs, accept 0-confirmation. But we will see how they handle it. 1 Confirmation is also acceptable to me.

For a hotel, 0-confirmation is not needed. I will normally stay longer than 6 confirmations.

I will try to take pictures and video if I have BCH transactions.

If some people have special requests, or wish to give a donation, this is my BCH address what I will use for the trip:

    16TwQwVsLaKYv6zU4PfYwz8heg14nHZaTd

I will use my Jaxx Wallet for BCH

    PS:

    • I will also do all the same for Bitcoin.

    1xriTwQmKjn55RuSSHz2DwByafjyQbxfy

    • If someone like that I test other coins, pls inform me and I will do.

A Business-Minded Perspective of the Adoption of Bitcoin

    Posted: 30 Sep 2018 06:22 PM PDT

So, for some context: I run a software development company, and I've been a developer since the age of 10 (so 20+ years), and I have also been into Bitcoin since 2011. I also am a local expert for the block chain community. With block chain being the new buzzword, I talk a lot with enterprises and business executives.

Bitcoin's bottleneck from last year has heavily influenced business. Almost every conversation I've had has involved "limited transactions per second" (and also the "environmental damage of PoW", but that's not on topic for this post). I have to spend at least 10 minutes debunking this conception every conversation and presentation I perform. However, it also gives me the opportunity to talk about Bitcoin Cash, so that's at least a good segue.

However, first impressions and rumors are hard to dispell, so the impact become much less effective than I believe it should have since many conversations are automatically put on the defensive, and I have to explain why BCH is better than Iota or Nano, or whatever fad they've heard "is better". It's rather unfortunate, really, and I hold a lot of resentment for Core gimping Bitcoin because of this.

Had Bitcoin performed well last December, then I truly believe the advancements in adopting crypto would have been far more along than they are currently. Right now, the business world is sharded and they're uncertain which coin to put their cart behind. It makes them feel like their decisions are far more risky, and it's unfortunate.

Additionally, a current (huge) barrier for adoption is simply how difficult it is to initially obtain Bitcoin. This isn't a technologic problem, it's almost purely a regulatory one. It's great that the government has legitimatized the currency, but they've also burdened it with removing all privacy-related functions of the coin. When any user has to sell their soul just to buy $100 of BCH, it proves a very difficult barrier to entry. Bitcoin.com has done a great job keeping that as easy as possible, but the reality still is that it's too hard for a common user. (Refer to my previous post, if you'd like to have a little more context).

Anyway, this might be obvious information for many of you, but I also don't want to take my knowledge for granted, so I thought I'd just share a brain dump of my current understanding (and mild frustration) of the crypto/business world.
