Announcing EthHub and how you can help.

    Posted: 27 Sep 2018 07:35 AM PDT

    Hi everyone!

A few months back I finally got fed up with the excess of misinformation being spread about Ethereum. I started to think of a solution and at the same time realized there was no single place for Ethereum users to go and read information about basic concepts, the roadmap, scaling solutions, monetary policy, dapp walkthroughs, common myths, or whatever it might be.

I discussed the ideas with some fellow Eth buddies and decided to finally set out and try to solve this problem. We are calling it EthHub.

Phase 1 is the content hub. It is open source and anyone can submit content via pull requests on our repo. We've been working on writing the original documentation and the initial page buildout can be found here. We will launch the site once these base pages are all ready to go. If you see anything you're interested in writing about or even would like to submit a new page, we could use the help!

We're doing this in our free time and not for profit because we think it's a necessary tool for the Ethereum ecosystem.

The best way to follow us and our progress for now is on our twitter: https://twitter.com/ethhub_io

    Cheers

Interesting details about Bitmain gleaned from their IPO filing

    Posted: 27 Sep 2018 01:26 AM PDT

and the actual deck in case you are fluent in chinese:
    http://www.hkexnews.hk/APP/SEHK/2018/2018092406/Documents/SEHK201809260018_c.pdf

Their IPO documentation is a great opportunity to finally get some data(even if self reported) about their company and business.

    interesting tidbits:

As of June of 2018, Bitmain has a team of 840 (!!) full-time engineers. That is ~30% of its entire team. The focus: chip design, algo dev, platform design, software, and hardware development.

Bitmain currently has 11 mining farms in China, including Sichuan, Inner Mongolia, etc. Each mining farm can hold ~20,000 mining rigs.

Micree Zhan owns 36% of the current Bitmain shares, while Jihan Wu owns 20.25%.

Two individuals directly or indirectly control an insane amount of hashing power spanning multiple blockchains and the ability to supply(or not) hardware that is becoming unfortunately increasingly vital to the ecosystem.

    Fork them away i say

Post snowden era how private is ethereum

Hi everyone just listened to the epicentre podcast all about google big query now has the full ethereum chain normalised

Effectively you can run queries to crunch data in different forms to try and paint a picture of what's going on.

Iv also been testing the new version of the status app on iOS and was alarmed to see that the app records your ip, geolocation, email id

I think eventually the whole decentralised "idea" will lead us towards more centralisation unless everyone focuses on privacy now

Once it's built it's too late
