MSI z370-a Pro, running 7 cards and staying stable? Posted: 03 Aug 2018 06:55 AM PDT Using Linux, I've been running 6 GPUs on a rig with a MSI z370-a Pro, no stability issues for a while now.
I recently added a M2 to USB 3.0 adapter and added a 7th card, but the max hashrate I can get is ~1/5th the rate of the other cards, and eventually it will just crap out, and I get "n/a" for that card. The weirdest part, is that the system reports insane values for the 7th card: Sometimes it will drop to: I don't believe this is specific to using the M2 to USB 3.0 adapter. I can remove a card from one of the PCIe slots, and 6 cards will run stable with one off the M2 adapter. I found one related issue that suggested it could be driver issues, so far I've tried with the 17.40 and 17.50 drivers, without luck. Has anyone successfully configured 7 cards to run on this board using a m2 adapter or otherwise? Any other thoughts I should consider? [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Aug 2018 05:53 AM PDT I'm having trouble connecting 4 1070ti's to 1 PSU that's not 1000W or more. Not due to power but rather due to cables. Is it safe to run 2 of those cards on 1 Y split PCIE connector? Thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Aug 2018 04:31 AM PDT Hi Peeps, For a variety of reasons, I have totally let my mining knowledge slip in the last 10 months (ish). Can anyone either answer me the following questions or point me towards a good, up-to-date summary for the current state of GPU mining. I am prepared to do some reading, so throw anything at me please. 1) What GPUs get the best return these days? One of the GTX 1060/70/80/Ti ones? 2) Are there any new GPUs in the pipeline that I can get for cheap now on preorder, or buy before the masses? 3) I am still using rx480s to mine ETH. Are these still considered good? Profit looks turd at the moment, but so does everything. Have the 580s now taking the throne? Should I sell them now (even though price is v.low) and buy better ones? 4) I see people mining loads of random coins I have never heard of these days, often for much better returns than mining ETH. Where is a good place to get info on mineable coins that are not on whattomine? I'd also be interested in the strategy used to accomplish this. Absolutely any comments welcome. Thanks all. Is now a good time to buy cheap GPUs, and does anyone have a good GPU price tracker site? Posted: 03 Aug 2018 04:13 AM PDT Hi gang, 1) Anyone know a good site for tracking GPU price? I found this, but it has limited GPU coverage: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/trends/price/video-card/ 2) anyone got any opinions on wether now is a good time to buy? Looks like you can pick up some cheap GPUs at the mo. Assuming of course this whole GPU mining gig is over. Thanks all, x [link] [comments]
Asus z270a 7th pcie slot wont work, what are chances its dead? Posted: 02 Aug 2018 10:47 PM PDT Recently wanted to add one more gpu to perfectly working 6 rig.. If I try change working card and plug into 7th slot, it's undetected as well. Don't know if it's common problem. Thanks! [link] [comments]
eGPU Cryptomining Potential Wear on Laptop + Feasibility? Posted: 02 Aug 2018 01:15 PM PDT Hi all, fairly new to the space, but I recently acquired a TB3 eGPU setup with an RX580 and was reading this thread on egpu.io. It seemed like it's not that efficient either, so I was hoping hear about other user cases, etc. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to mine with the external GPU. I use it occasionally for gaming and such, but I was imagining that continuous mining would stress out the laptop internals which I do use as my daily driver. [link] [comments] |
