Heatmaps based on short term price/volume evolution

    Posted: 31 Jul 2018 08:38 AM PDT

    TLDR

    • 100% self-hosted & open-source service (ie: you run it wherever you want)
    • it uses exchanges data to build heatmaps based on price & volume evolution over 5min, 15 min, 1h, 4h, 1d & 5d
    • it emits evolution data every 1min over a single websocket (which means it can be used to trigger custom alerts based on price evolution over the last 4h for example)
    • it comes with a basic UI (although I'm not very good at building UI)

Receiving evolution data is as simple as opening a web socket connection to ws://127.0.0.1:8003

    Examples

    wscat -c 'ws://127.0.0.1:8003'

    Source

    Repository is available at here

Demo is available here (although demo only monitors NEO/GAS coins, service can be used to monitor any pair supported by Binance, Bittrex, Kucoin, OKex or Poloniex)

Bithumb to Suspend Real-Name Verification of Crypto Account

    Posted: 31 Jul 2018 01:59 AM PDT

According to Money Today, the South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb will suspend the real-name verification of cryptocurrency account, and the new account issue will be suspended on August 1st. In the worst case, the service won't be restored until September. According to the insider who is familiar with the matter, NH Bank and Bithumb have not renewed their contract to issue a real-name verification service. Meanwhile, Upbeat re-signed with Industrial Bank of Korea (IBK), while Coinone and Korbit have completed their re-signings with Nonghyup Bank and Shinhan Bank respectively. Among the four cryptocurrency exchanges, Bithumb is not the only one to renew the contract.

    Do people manipulate USDT price?

    Posted: 31 Jul 2018 01:08 AM PDT

I was considering what happens if someone launched a USDT token whereby you have to deposit X usd at a central entity to obtain X USDT tokens. At any time, anyone with a USDT token can cash in that token for $1 in their bank account.

Will the price of USDT be manipulated on exchanges somehow knowing that they are only worth $1 by company Y.

One thought was people may be willing to but usdt at a slight premium if say ₿ dropped since a 1% premium is fine if ₿ dropped 5%. But that offers and arbitrage opportunity for people to simply buy more usdt directly to sell on the exchange. Ie if speed was nearly instant that arbitrage would correct the market quickly... am I miss understanding how the market would be stable? Is there some other price dynamic possibility that requires company Y to operate a float on exchanges to stabilise the price?

Bitcoin - A Bullish Pennant & The Supports Getting Bought. July 31, 2018

    Posted: 31 Jul 2018 12:58 AM PDT

    Ahoy traders!

Bitcoin -0.51% is forming Pennant Chart Pattern on the daily timeframe . It is known bullish continuation pattern and activates after the breakout. What is common thing to see in this pattern? Volume diminishes when the price moves closer to the peak. The breakout is confirmed once it takes down MA200 and $8.400 resistance level . Volume is crucial part of the breakout and it should start expanding along with the breakout to give reliance 2.11% to it.

What's interesting here is that last night Bitcoin -0.51% dropped below of $8.000, retested support zone ($7958 - $7.665) and bottom level of the pattern but the dip was quickly bought which signifies that demand is high in this area.

What's the strategy in here? The strategy is pretty much the same with all chart patterns and the strategy is dependable on your risk management which one you choose to use. You can buy the breakout itself (which is often more riskier) or retest of breakout. So when the Pennant Chart Pattern is unleashed and starts showing signals that supports upward movement such as volume starts expanding, then these two strategies can be utilized.

The measured target price for this pattern is around $9.591 but I'd keep eye on 8927 level as well. Break below of the uptrend support invalidates this pattern.

In my past reports I have wrote several times about the importance of the unleashed bullish momentum on the larger scale and the importance of it. Why does it matter? It matters because the price is more likely to hold support levels (dips are getting bought) and break through of resistance levels easier.

Conclusion On the daily timeframe it's important that the price manages to break through of MA200 because that's what most of the people are monitoring and the breakout is likely to bring more confidence to the investors / traders. Oscillators are resetting on the 4h timeframe and this could give enough space to the price to push higher. It's good to acknowledge the risk involved with this trade as when the price climbs higher and not seeing any major retraces it's going to add more risk in to your trades.

We’ve built a proper cryptocurrency exchange comparator – all feedback welcome!

    Posted: 30 Jul 2018 11:23 AM PDT

So pretty much every day someone asks one of the following questions on a cryptocurrency related subreddit:

    • Where can I margin trade as a United States citizen?
    • Where can I buy crypto with PayPal?
    • What's the best cryptocurrency exchange for my needs?

So as a response to this, a mate and I built https://exchangify.io. It's an exchange comparator that allows people to easily filter on certain aspects of an exchange, while also providing near-real time cryptocurrencies rates (think less than a minute for 95% of all exchanges).

We know there's already a bunch of sites comparing cryptocurrency exchanges (CryptoCompare, Coingecko etc.) but neither of them really allows people to easily filter on a certain aspects (let alone combined), say for example "Margin Trading" or "Exchanges that support VISA as a United States Citizen." We built Exchangify with the intent of allowing people to do just that.

All feedback is welcome, this isn't a professional project, so expect bugs and other inconsistencies. You'd do us a tremendous favour if you can point them out though.

Here are some of the updates we're planning to do in the foreseeable future:

    - Add filter for decentralized exchanges

    - Add filter to show exchanges with a negative market maker fee

Any other suggestions would be extremely helpful!

    Technical Analysis for CryptoMarkets

    Posted: 30 Jul 2018 11:17 AM PDT

I'm buying stuff with cryptos and using bitcoin since 2012 but some time ago, I started to have more interest in the market in order to make trading. But I'm a total noob in that matter.

As a noob concerning topics such as trading or swing trading among others, I would like to start understanding about the market.

In the technical analysis of everyday (I guess the term is daytrading), what are the technical analysis approaches that will help me to understand the crypto market? I know now the Dow Jones for example.

People are telling me that Forex and crpyto are similar. I think not. But since I don't know, maybe I'm wrong.
