Thread topics include, but are not limited to:

    • Discussion related to recent events
    • Technical analysis, trading ideas & strategies
    • General questions about altcoins

    Thread guidelines:

    • Be excellent to each other.
    • All regular rules for this subreddit apply, except for number 2. This, and only this, thread is exempt from the requirement that all discussion must relate to bitcoin trading.
    • This is for high quality discussion of altcoins. All shilling or obvious pumping/dumping behavior will result in an immediate one day ban. This is your only warning.
    • No discussion about specific ICOs. Established coins only.

If you're not sure what kind of discussion belongs in this thread, here are some example posts. News, TA, and sentiment analysis are great, too.

Tips ln how to trade BTC smart

    Posted: 29 Jul 2018 08:39 AM PDT

    Hello,

I'm pretty new to crypto but I've wanted to try trading BTC for a long time. I mean everybody have had some dream about it am I right? So I was just wondering if anyone has some tips and techniques on how to trade profitable with a low rate of mistakes? Thinking about putting in 1000 USD on a bitmex account and start very soon since we have some pretty good months Infront of us. Thoughts? :)

Free Python Rebalance Estimator using CMC Api

    Posted: 28 Jul 2018 11:36 AM PDT

In light of the Binance bot, figured I would post a half-assed tool that I am using. It is missing a couple features but I still think someone might find it useful.

    https://pastebin.com/cBzKph56

    What does it do?

Cross references your stored portfolio from a local saved csv with the coinmarketcap API and calculates % exposure based on marketcap.

I do not plan on integrating with exchanges simply because most of the time, this is my cold storage but it definitely allows for you to establish variables in which it will recommend that you rebalance (or cash out?). Partially inspired by this link posed in this sub. But I also prefer the opportunity to make manual decisions, I do not need to maintain a strict %tage of exposure especially with BTC skewing everything. Also allows me to gamble like a degenerate with coins separated from my long-term portfolio.

I have automated email already set-up for personal notifications (as an example of what you can use) but the rest should be fairly straight forward, for anyone wishing to add their own strategy.

I removed some parts I am working on improving efficiency in. This stripped version just prints to the commandline
