I'm from CoinEx, an exchange supports XRP/BCH & XRP/BTC trading pairs. But we encountered cases of deposits without Tag, thus we resort to XRP dev, and got kind assistance.

    Posted: 31 May 2018 09:04 PM PDT

Since we launched XRP trading pairs, deposit and withdrawal, we encountered many cases about depositing XRP to CoinEx without including destination Tag. It took us lots of time and energy to recover XRP for users. Soon we decided to seek a way to solve the problem once for all.

I tried to contact the dev on Telegram, Twitter, Email and Discord, it's difficult for people to answer me because the questions I asked are something technical. Eventually an admin Mr. H in Discord recommended WietseWind to me.

WietseWind advised us to enable account flag: asfRequireDest. If a user tries to deposit without a tag, the transaction will be rejected.

After he answered my questions and clear doubts, he told me something else. If we are SENDING funds (so the customer is withdrawing) we can also include a SourceTag (the deposit tag for users), so the recipient knows to what tag to return the funds if they don't agree on the transaction.

Many thanks to Ripple team again. CoinEx will keep dedicating to provide better user experience. Hope our effort will give satisfaction to users.

    Required Tag Option

    Posted: 31 May 2018 09:53 PM PDT

What if you could set your wallet to "require tags" for incoming transactions. If a sender did not have one, the nodes would reject it and it bounced back via ledger rejection.

Is there any reason that would be impractical? It would seem that the entire ledger would have to add the flag for every wallet address. So maybe there is a DoS condition there?

Thoughts on the Volcker rule and what this could mean for institutional money and the banking industry

    Posted: 31 May 2018 05:41 AM PDT

    Reference - https://www.nytimes.com/2018/05/30/business/volcker-rule-banks-federal-reserve.html

Regardless of where one stands on consumer protections, it is important to consider how changes now underway may affect the digital asset market and XRP in particular. Since the financial crisis of 2008, there has been a rule in place for banks known as the Volcker Rule which prevents banks from making complex bets with depositors' money. This has limited institutional investment into digital assets primarily to hedge funds and private equity rather than capital holdings of big banks.

Here are some snippets from the article that really stand out:

    • will free thousands of small and medium-size banks from the Dodd-Frank law.

    • the rule needed to be simplified so that banks could more easily comply with it and Washington could adequately enforce it.

    • Regulators would give banks more leeway to determine what levels of trading activity are appropriate for meeting customer demands on each of their trading desks. hmm....

    • Now, banks must prove that each trade serves a clear purpose that goes beyond a speculative bet by showing regulators specifically how each trade either meets customer demands or acts as a hedge against specific risks. That had curtailed trading in a variety of assets like derivatives, corporate bonds and other complex products. "complex products"

While this article doesn't make the direct connection to crypto and by extension XRP, I think it is safe to say that this is a bullish signal for institutional money flowing into the market. I think banks are salivating for a piece of the pie as they watch hedge funds and start ups eat it up the last few years.

So here's the likely outcome - Ripple continues laying the network infrastructure with xCurrent. Remittance providers and retail investors bring the necessary liquidity. Banks can now start buying XRP so they can own a slice of the network itself. Being major holders going forward, banks start driving the price up to increase the value of their investment and start using xRapid. XRP to the moon.

If Russian Hackers have faith in Ripple currency than so do I Dammit

So, First and foremost, really sorry about people had to deal with financial fraud in this story. But I invested in XRP at $3 peak a coin, and still feeling the burned. A little hope lit up when Russian hackers demanded $1 million in Ripple currency. Maybe they see some value soaring in the future.

Will exchanges use Ripple products for payments and settlements to client Fiat accounts?

    Posted: 31 May 2018 01:01 PM PDT

Alot of great news in the last 5 months about Ripple's progress with Central Banks, Institutes and Foreign Exchanges.

However are their any crypto exchanges that will use Ripples products to help settle Wire Transfers back to Fiat accounts.

I believe most folks moving in crypto see the friction first hand.

I would love to see this available on exchanges with Fiat/XRP pairs.

Is this on the cards for any exchanges or does anyone have news or info from the past? I have had no luck on my searches.

Thank you for any further insight.
