How is Litecoin better optimized for payments? Posted: 30 Apr 2018 10:36 PM PDT Charlie Lee has stated when answering the question of comparing the differences between Bitcoin and Litecoin, the value proposition was that Litecoin was optimized for payments while Bitcoin was optimized for security and store of value. How is Litecoin better optimized for payments in comparison to Bitcoin? And just for fun, how is Litecoin better optimized for payments in comparison to (Decred, Monero, Bitcoin Cash, insert-your-favorite-coin)? [link] [comments]

Peer to Peer Litecoin Twitch donation system Posted: 01 May 2018 12:51 AM PDT I've created a service that allows direct wallet to wallet donations on twitch with Litecoin. It had 0 fees and keeps you in control. The system also allows other coins such as BTC, NANO and GRS with more to come. It also has PayPal integrated. We need streamers to use the system. This is the first direct wallet to wallet donation system as others use third parties to handle funds. We believe in you keeping access to your funds. Check it out at www.cryptips.org and join the discord if you have any questions [link] [comments]

How and Why I'm Using My Shift Card Posted: 30 Apr 2018 02:32 PM PDT So I've noticed a few arguments against why people won't use crypto debit cards. As the brand new owner of a Shift Card, I want to start a conversation about how and why I plan to use it. First some financial background about myself. I do not like to give out specific numbers but will use other relative values. I currently have about 3 months worth of living expenses in BTC, LTC, and ETH that I do not touch and am HODLing, hopefully it continues to grow. I have about another 1-2 months worth of living expenses that I day trade with, and hopefully continue to grow. I also have another 2 months of living expenses that I hold in fiat, in a traditional savings account. I am a college student who collects VA benefits, and my only debt is my vehicle loan. For tax purposes, my taxable income from VA benefits and financial aid is $0. My plan for using my Shift Card is I make a budget every month. After I figure out what my disposable income is for the month, I will put half of it onto my Shift Card. When I use my disposable income first, I will draw from my checking/fiat account. Once that gets low or to zero, I will then begin to use my Shift Card for the remainder of the month. My goal/Intent/hope is that by the time I have to start using my Shift Card, the LTC I loaded it with at the beginning of the month will hopefully appreciated in value so that I have an extra couple hundred bucks to spend. Worse case scenario, if the price significantly depreciates from what I purchased the LTC at I have several options. 1. Cut back on spending for the remainder of the month. 2. Eat the loss if it's not too significant. 3. Tap into savings. Since all my bills will already be covered prior to buying LTC, the easiest solution will be to cut back on spending. As far as taxes go, I'm not too concerned since my taxable income to start with is $0. TLDR: Pro's of Crypto Debit Card: 1. Increase crypto awareness 2. Increase adoption 3. Potentially have extra money at the end of the month to spend Con's 1. Short term capital gains tax if I hit over $9,000 for the year, I believe 2. LTC may be worth less by the time I use my Shift Card. 3. Can only afford to have a few months of significant losses before I eat through my savings. I understand that most people are financially not in a secure enough place to use this strategy. Since I am, it is worth the gamble to me in hopes of encouraging LTC adoption. What do you all think?
