Is MSI "tech support" actually just a bunch of minimum wage high school kids? That's what they sound like on the phone.

    Posted: 30 Apr 2018 01:06 PM PDT

Anyone else dealt with MSI "support"?

I'm trying to get details about my RMA that was received by them 42 days ago. Their website states RMA turnaround time is 15-35 days. I called their "tech support" line last Monday and spoke to a kid that had no customer service skills and no information regarding my RMA. After putting me on hold about 5 minutes he said he didn't know what the holdup was and that, "Maybe they've been trying to email you. Have you checked your email recently?" Really...? I assured him that I see emails as they come in on my phone and nothing has come in. He suggests that I should call again in a week. I call again today and get another similarly inexperienced kid on the phone. He literally calls me "bro" twice during the phone call and stumbles around trying to explain that he has no information and no idea why it's taking so long. I quote him the MSI website says regarding turnaround time and ask him how long it typically takes. He says, "Umm..usually about this much. It usually takes around this much time."

It seems pretty clear that the only information these kids have is whether or not it's been received and probably whether it's been shipped yet. Nothing in between. I imagine their full scale of job duties entails handing out excuses and delaying the customer as long as possible. Totally unacceptable.

GPU 6 card rig suddenly only mining with 5 cards, however 6 still showing fine in device manager

    Posted: 01 May 2018 07:49 AM PDT

    Hi everyone

i've come across a very strange issue, would really appreciate any help

My 6x 1070ti rig has been mining without any issues for 6 months

randomly, i noticed the hash rate dropped, it has started mining with only 5 cards

i've used DDU and done a clean driver install, and verified all the cards are operational

and the very strange thing is, there is still 6 cards appearing in device manager.

Ontop of this, if i reboot the miner, it starts mining with 6 cards, runs for a few hours, and something happens and it loses one card and starts mining with 5, until i power cycle the rig again....

however even when it loses one card in the miner, it still shows fine in GPU-Z and device manager

    im lost.

    Windows cannot find 'pwsh' error

    Posted: 01 May 2018 07:45 AM PDT

    Hobby miner. Sorry.

Windows 10 (Fall 2017 update), Multipool Miner on Mining Pool Hub, one 6x 1070 rig.

Within the past couple weeks I've regularly suffered from a "Powershell stopped working" error (reboot fixes it). Couple days ago, decided to uninstall, then reinstall Powershell 6 manually.

Uninstalled, reinstalled, now I'm getting a "Windows cannot find pwsh" error.

In the MPM start .bat file I've tried renaming pwsh to powershell.exe, but that appears to open a different version of Powershell. I'm unsure if this is kosher, a performance hit, or something else.

Someone suggested that the broken link between Powershell 6 and pwsh might be due to turning off Cortana's search function via one of the suggested mining registry tweaks? If this is true, I'm unsure how to reenable it, or even if this will matter.

Wouldn't uninstalling and then reinstalling Powershell reforge that link anyway?

Any help is appreciated because right now I'm using Nicehash and I feel like I'm bringing shame upon the souls of my ancestors.

What pool is everyone on right now? Thinking of making a change from MPH

    Posted: 01 May 2018 06:37 AM PDT

I've been mining Equihash on MPH for a while now, ever since the zclassic BTCP fork) and have been auto changing to various coins but MPH doesn't seem to be interested in adding new coins and I'm always looking for ways to better improve the small relatively operation that I have (5x 1060s, 1x 1080, 2x 1080tis)

I know some people don't like to be forthcoming with their tactics in fear that they'll lose a good thing if it becomes too popular so not sure how much interest this post will get. Either way figured I'd give it a shot. Thanks in advance!

    2x1070ti vs 1080ti

    Posted: 01 May 2018 05:39 AM PDT

In the long term is it better to have 2x1070ti or 1x1080ti? The hashrate will still be more on 2x1070ti right? Only the hashrate matters? Not considering the resell value

Question about adding rx580 to old desktop

    Posted: 30 Apr 2018 08:19 PM PDT

I have this old Dell desktop that I want to add an RX580 to. Is this possible? I know the power supply inside can't handle it, but my 5 GPU rig has extra space on the PSU so I would just power using that. I included a picture, thanks!!

    Experience w/ Rig Hosting?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2018 06:31 PM PDT

My farm has outgrown my apartment and starting to impact the comfort level given the A/C can't keep up with the heat very well. Not to mention, I live in a highrise in the Southeast and it's going to be 85 degrees on the regular (plus the air gets extremely humid).

So.... it looks like I need to research hosting or alternative solutions. I've looked into the grow tents but it isn't really feasible given my apartment. The windows are solely sliding glass doors.

Does anyone have experience with rig hosting services? Other option, obviously, is to rent a space but concerned that might hit the metrics too hard.

Good way to automatically cash out?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2018 08:12 AM PDT

So I haven't had a fantastic time holding my coins for a bit before cashing out so I am looking to cash out daily/weekly. Is there a good way to cash out with minimal user interaction? I'm not sure if I should go ahead and write something to do this because there is probably an easier way to cash out daily/weekly.

Troubleshooting a dual PSU config. When running certain mining software, one of my PSU's suddenly loses power.

    Posted: 30 Apr 2018 01:30 PM PDT

I've been having difficulty with my dual PSU config. I currently have a pair of 750 watt PSUs powering 6 1070ti cards between them.

I get great performance with Claymore, dual mining Ethereum and a second coin. Never have stability issues and my hashrates are in line with what I should expect with these cards. * However, if I change to another algorithm like... equihash, my rig crashes immediately. PSU #2 loses power while PSU #1 is still on. Windows crashes and I have to power cycle in order to get back into it. I've done some troubleshooting and I really don't think it's the OS. I'm not sure what could be tripping PSU #2.

    • The configuration is currently 3 cards and risers per power supply, with one of the power supplies also powering the motherboard. I consider this to be PSU #1.
    • PSU #2 has 3 risers of its own and 3 cards to power.
    • The PSUs are connected to one another using one of these cables
    • All risers are using 6-pin connectors if I remember correctly (I'm not home at the moment to verify). If it's not 6-pin, then it's molex. Most likely 6-pin.
    • Afterburner is running at 70% wattage and a very light overclock.
    • The rig is plugged in through a tp-link smart outlet that I use for remote power cycling and to monitor wattage
    • The two psus are connected to the TPlink through a surge protector.

I have a feeling that the issue might be the surge protector not being able to handle dual 750w psu's or the cable but I'm at a bit of a loss and I don't like letting the rig crash so much every time I try to test something different. Considering that it's always PSU #2 that cuts off and never PSU #1, I don't think it's the surge bar. Even if I swap the cards out so that PSU1's cards are now on #2 and vice versa, it's still PSU #2 that dies.

Actually, typing this out is making me think that maybe it's an issue with #2 itself... but I don't have a spare PSU kicking around to test with and I'd like to invalidate other options before I try ordering a new one.

6-8 GPU mining with Windows 10

    Posted: 30 Apr 2018 04:12 PM PDT

    Hello all,

Having a debate with another fellow reddit member who says having either a 6 or 8 Nvidia GPU mining rig is nearly impossible with Windows 10.

I've setup multiple windows 10 rigs running 6 or 8 cards but would like the communities opinion on this subject.

    Share your experiences.
