Livepeer - decentralized live streaming - just went live on Mainnet

    Posted: 01 May 2018 11:16 AM PDT

Hey, Doug from Livepeer.org here. I wanted to share the news that after 18 months in development, Livepeer's p2p video streaming platform built on Ethereum just went live on Mainnet. Here're some things that I hope you find interesting about Livepeer's launch:

    • You can use the network today to Livestream and transcode video. Broadcasters pay in ETH so you don't need any token to use the network.

    • It's one of the first delegated stake based protocols to go live on Mainnet. Staking, delegating, and the accompanying economics are live.

    • Livepeer token is used to route work on the network and secure it based on stake. The method for generating token in the gensis state is called a MerkleMine, which enables all ETH holders to participate.

We've built on top of and alongside of great projects including Truebit, Swarm, IPFS, Infura, Truffle, Metamask, Zeppelin, and more. Thank you to the whole ecosystem for helping get the Livepeer Alpha out the door.

Happy to answer any questions that people have about P2P video streaming and Livepeer.

    [LIVE STREAM] EIP0 Governance Summit

    Posted: 01 May 2018 07:22 AM PDT

The Fellowship of Ethereum Magicians is doing great work on the technical details of Ethereum governance, but where are the philosophers? At this event we'll be discussing the legal/political/ethical/philosophical challenges of Ethereum governance and hope you will join us on the stream!

This is in an un-conference format so some of the times listed may change.

Live stream announcements and links will be broadcast through Giveth's Twitter account. I will also try to update this post with YouTube links as they happen.
