The secret of freedom lies in educating people, whereas the secret of tyranny is in keeping them ignorant. -M. Robespierre

While many only know of what core tells them, part of expanding the adoption of Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash is educating everyone that has at least a somewhat open-mind (willing to listen) as to what P2P Cash IS, and why right NOW BCH is doing it with NO artificial restrictions like the intentionally crippled coin.

    Only P2P Cash is consistently:

    • Borderless (all can afford)
    • Near-zero fees
    • Near instant transactions (regardless of what some wallets/exchanges policy is)
    • No intermediary (no LN hubs/watchtowers, etc...)
    • Simple to use (Cointext and more...)
    • Censorship resistant

    Funding Bitcoin Cash Developers

    Posted: 30 Apr 2018 03:16 PM PDT

I happen to come across this conversation https://twitter.com/deadalnix/status/991042609668935680 and personally I feel, as a community, we need to come together to think of something. Could we do it like DASH? Or is there something else we could learn from other coins when it comes to funding development to promote the Bitcoin Cash ecosystem?

This makes me think really hard because even LocalBitcoinCash was funded from my own pockets every month and there is a finite amount of money I have. I did have a few investors looking to buy up some equity but the main reason why I am not taking anyone else money for equity is because I wanted the project to remain independent. I didn't want the pressure of the project turning into another Blockstream. It is all for an idealogy (p2p permissionless cash for the entire world).

On the other hand, we need to be realistic about the situation. We can't ask developers to work for free otherwise it is somewhat unfair to them. And we can't ask them to turn Bitcoin Cash protocol into a revenue making business for them because then, it turns into another Blockstream problem. Therefore, I think we need to step up and find a solution to this ongoing problem. I don't have a solution but I hope this can be the start of a discussion leading to that.

Can we start making skins for Electron Cash? I would like a Thor-themed skin for Electron Cash where unconfirmed transactions are called "flashes" and confirmations are called "thunder". Do Electron Cash plugins make you able to skin the application to your liking?

Using the right language from a marketing perspective and a technical perspective is not the same thing. Let's start calling 0-conf, instant payments or something else. Or we will we forever have to explain to newbies why 0 conf is safe to use.

    Posted: 30 Apr 2018 07:05 PM PDT

There are probably other terms as well that need a better one for marketing purposes. We can use both the correct marketing and technical one at the same time. Instant payment (0-conf) or something like that. Newbies don't even know what a confirmation is and why it's zero. Instant payment they can understand just fine. You pay for something without having to wait. Bitcoin Cash has an instant payment. You pay and don't wait.

Bitcoin-BTC gave up instant payment when they introduced replace by fee in to the code, something I will always love the Todd for, because it crippled Bitcoin-BTC so enormously from a usability perspective, that tey are now working on a solution (LN) that is even worse.

People hate waiting. Just hate it. Everybody hates waiting. Instant payments, how many cryptocurrencies really have instant payments?

You just got to market it properly. With 0-conf this will never really work, it's a name that is to technically. Does not mean we have to lie or bamboozle new people but it does mean that we can start become a little smarter when it comes to marketing.

Taxis Take BCH, Stores Sell BTC in the Russian City of Rostov

One of the most ignorant - even anti-crypto - argument I hear around is that BCH is a currency controlled by Chinese miners.

    Posted: 30 Apr 2018 09:17 AM PDT

As if there's a way to stop a non-Chinese miner to fabricate asics and mine on the same chain and outcompete them or as if anyone is stopping even forking off of it to a non-asic algo which BTC itself didn't do.

Would it be possible to do opinion polls directly on the Bitcoin Cash blockchain with the option for the starter of the poll to set the price to participate in the poll and also the percentage of that price that goes to a BCH address instead of getting burned?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2018 09:21 PM PDT

This would allow popular polls makers to make a bit of money. It would allow people to ask the community questions directly on the blockchain where participating in a poll can only be done by BCH holders and the polls can be manipulated but that will cost BCH. The more popular a poll and the more users are willing to spend some BCH to participate the more expensive it will be to manipulate the result. Then of course chain analysis can be done to still reveal it when people are willing to spend a lot of BCH to manipulate the results.

The question is, can this be done? And can it be integrated into memo.cash

If we start working towards several separate ways of creating social media functionality directly on to the blockchain. Then one day when Reddit has become so unfree that we have no choice but to move ... we can maybe move on to the blockchain and never ever have to worry about trolls and shills. Shilling Reddit is cheap. Shilling when you pay a cent per upvote or post is ... too expensive.

And it would provide for a way to ask all kinds of imporant questions to the BCH userbase. Right now only miners can vote with their flags. It would be nice for users to also be able to vote. And it would be cool to tell the world that we are doing opinion polls that can not be censored and where manipulating the results is magnitudes more expensive then by using multiple IP addresses.

PSA: You can use the BitPay wallet app to instantly buy Amazon gift cards with BCH.

    Posted: 30 Apr 2018 01:50 PM PDT

I noticed Egifter stopped allowing people to buy amazon cards, and other places were slow delivery and a hassle. But recently I discovered the BitPay wallet app's amazing ability to instantly buy Amazon gift cards. This is by far the most convenient method I have seen. This comes in very handy especially since companies like Overstock seem brainwashed now, and will not accept the true Bitcoin that follows Satoshi's vision anymore.

You can also use the shapeshift button in the BitPay app to change from BTC to BCH, and you can also get the BitPay debit card. Highly recommend.
