@Satoshilite: Running your own node is like having your own watch. You use it to tell time without relying on others. (e.g. miners) If everyone has their own watch, actual time can only change if everyone agrees to change it. (e.g. DST) Time is only useful when everyone is on the same time.

    Banking Future

    Posted: 30 Apr 2018 02:37 AM PDT

Here and there I've been asking questions on reddit as I am writing a presentation for the bank I'm working for on the topic of 'Blockchain.' Now I've been asked to give a very concrete example of a futuristic bank using cryptocurrency. I wanted to ask whether the image I paint here holds up:

(I changed the bank's name to just 'bank')

Imagine now for a moment that bank is the innovator of Belgium. It sets up its own Belgian digital currency infrastructure.

Like with your traditional crypto-currency, clients retain power over their own money. Transactions to shops, services and so on are out of bank's hands. Trading is also out of bank's hands. It is a direct B2B business, in which contracts, money transfers and agreements are part of the blockchain. Loans and lending happen on a subscription basis, where users allow all or part of their money to be used for lending (and take part of the profit).

The bank effectively changes the status quo. Instead of centralising all the people's money, they pave roads to let people easily use their own money as they see fit. They repair the road when necessary, they are the police on the network when economic fraud takes place.

However, the infrastructure is build and maintained by bank, hence:

bank sees everything that happens over their digital currency network The whole infrastructure is set up by bank, and for this, they can ask a transaction fee Certain strengths of the infrastructure can be unlocked depending on the needs of the client (trade, investing, lending, etc…) Loans happen through a system in which clients can subscribe themselves. In return, they receive part of the profit for allowing the bank to use their money for loans

Should I sell all my Litecoin???

    Posted: 29 Apr 2018 09:00 PM PDT

I've been thinking. I love Litecoin and it's fundamentals. It's one of my favorite crypto. Although, I don't know what to do with it. It's bringing my portfolio down and all my investments are doing fine. Although my Litecoin position has been doing poorly. I've sworn 3600$ to get 16.05 Litecoin and I feel like it was a poor choice. I got into Crypto a few months ago and I made a noob mistake by buying at ATH.

I don't know what to do. I believe it has a great future but Charlie lee has been making this coin fall flat on its ass for months and he knows it. I think it will reach 1000$ one day but I don't wanna miss out on other gains this year. Please let me know what you think and explain why I should or shouldn't keep it. Thanks!
