Bear market should be a wakeup call

    Posted: 01 Apr 2018 01:38 PM PDT

Its up to us to create global adoption. If you want your Bitcoin investment to do well, we need real value, real usage, real utility. It is starting, but there is much work to do... and until then we'll continue to be at the mercy of whales, speculators, and the other powers that be.

No one is coming to rescue us. We must lead the way.

    Adoption, adoption, adoption!

    Cryptokid Games removes bch support.

    Posted: 01 Apr 2018 02:49 PM PDT

Hi. Some of you know me as the guy who sells board games for crypto at Cryptokid Games. It is with a heavy heart that I've come to announce we're removing BCH support. There are several reasons for this decision.

First my server costs are just too low. I need to spend more on keeping a LN node running 24/7.

Second, my assets are entirely too liquid. With my ample profit margins I have money flowing all over the place, able to be spent without consequence. I'm hoping I can establish payment channels which will lock those funds up for me under penality of disconnecting from the network. I mean, I've got to do something with my untold riches.

Finally, my customers aren't paying enough to pay me. They're spamming the blockchain with $15-$150 transactions. I need to slow them down, or else my 2tb hdd might not have space for the blockchain in a few years. It's important for me to personally verify every transaction back to their coinbases. It might be impossible for me to do this in a few years without making minor upgrades to my computer. Unacceptable!

P.S. orders made with coupon code APRIL1 will receive a gift that sells on eBay for over $10. I only ship inside the US, sorry rest of the world. :(

Are we now in an "Eternal September" in the Cryptocurrency community?

    Posted: 01 Apr 2018 09:12 PM PDT

A whole lot of people entered into the crypto space between November and January who have no idea what the whole thing is about. They saw the massive increase in price and are invested in cult coins. They are drowning out intelligent conversations, most of them love huge governments and view the coins as investment vehicles instead of competing money.

I’m Riding BCH Down To One Penny If I Have To and Then Back Up. I’m Never Getting Out.

    Posted: 01 Apr 2018 05:34 AM PDT

I'm in it for life. I have a massive amount so I'm sure the price will not drop to one penny even if I stay in it myself. Miners have our back too openly showing at least 500,000 BCH in their wallets which have not moved. Bitcoin miners have our back!

I even perform a lot of transactions every day. I'm using and hoarding. Let's get it more adopted!

I am guilty of this often, but I'll try harder. (To cut off my bad behavior entirely I would have to unsubscribe from rLitecoin. [Oops!])

So /r/bitcoin delivers 5 second bans to every user as an "April Fool". Ha very funny. Perhaps what they're really trying to do is twist the narrative so when people talk of actually being banned from /r/bitcoin they can say "that was just an April fool".

What is a UTXO Smart Contract? (1/2)

    Posted: 01 Apr 2018 07:51 PM PDT

In May, Bitcoin Cash will go through a protocol upgrade, enabling new OP-CODES, as well as 32 MB blocks! These new OP-CODES will enable enhanced scripting and smart contract functionality for Bitcoin Cash.

While it's technically true that anything you could write with Ethereum's account based model can be done with a UTXO model, some things lend themselves better to the account model, while others are much simpler with the UTXO based model.

In this yours.org post, I explore the difficulties of porting a simple coin-flip game to Bitcoin Cash: https://www.yours.org/content/what-is-a-utxo-smart-contract--abcc79aac499

Part 2 of this article will explore some better applications of UTXO based smart contracts, and why it may actually be preferable to Ethereum's account based smart contract model for many applications!

I’ve come full circle on selfish mining

    Posted: 01 Apr 2018 01:10 PM PDT

I gotta admit. At the beginning I was onboard with team 15-minutes. I was convinced that the selfish miner problem was to be viewed from the perspective of the SM and that if we start the mining process at T-10, in cases where the SM finds a block at T-0 it's an average of 15 minutes later that the HM finds a block, and that is still true. The key words here are In cases where . This entire line of reasoning discounts the fact that the problem starts at T-10 and that in roughly 1/3 of cases, a block will get found by the HM before we ever get to T-0. Are these blocks any less valid? The SM is still hashing against the HM while these blocks are being found and expending work and effort so it makes no sense to ignore them. So, if we look at the problem taking that into account, and say that the SM finds his block at T-0 regardless of HM's progress, then on average HM will find his block at T+5. The key thing which I discounted previously is that in something like 1/3 of the puzzle iterations, when SM finds his block at T-0, the HM will have already found a block and will be hard at work mining the subsequent block and this is the key to the puzzle.
