New localbitcoins.com competitor adds Bitcoin Cash

    Posted: 05 Apr 2018 01:19 PM PDT

We were impressed with localbitcoins.com but felt it was like the Wild West. Even with escrow anonymous trades resulted in losses because many cash transfer methods remain reversible. We set out building a safer alternative capable of supporting more cryptocurrencies.

    The project: https://trustedcointrades.com

    Features:

    • Free P2P Ads (1% fee to poster at trade close)
    • Trust Ratings/Safety Guarantee
    • Dual Escrow
    • Multiple Cryptocurrencies
    • P2P lending section

As Joystream said recently while building things changed and Bitcoin Cash emerged. We've been in beta and recently finished adding Bitcoin Cash. The 3 native currencies now supported, BTC, BCH and LTC, can be used for direct p2p cash exchanges but also serve as escrow for another top 200 cryptocurrencies.

We feel it's important for the market to be able to move into and out of cash as safely, privately and conveniently as possible. Signup is quick and simple and we'd love feedback!

Bitcoin ABC Ubuntu repo has been updated to serve 0.17.0

    Posted: 05 Apr 2018 03:22 AM PDT

Bitcoin ABC Ubuntu repo has been updated to provide the latest stable version 0.17.0

See the release notes for more details.

    Repo home page:

    https://launchpad.net/~bitcoin-abc/+archive/ubuntu/ppa

If you are installing for the first time just execute these commands(*):

    sudo apt-get install software-properties-common sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bitcoin-abc/ppa sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install bitcoind bitcoin-qt

(*) if you already have a prev version of Bitcoin ABC just run:

sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade

If you are experiencing an error related to libstdc++6 version being not satisfied, look at this /u/abcbtc's comment that contains the fix:

    https://np.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/7a3jtg/bitcoin_abc_ubuntu_repo_has_been_updated_to_serve/dp6w39p/ i.e.

    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-toolchain-r/test -y sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install libstdc++-7-dev -y

If you are using Ubuntu 14.04 (Trusty) you also need to execute these commands before installing the Bitcoin ABC binaries:

    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:sickpig/boost sudo apt-get update

This is needed due the fact ABC bumped min version for libboost to 1.58.00 .

    Need help recovering BCH!

    Posted: 05 Apr 2018 10:48 AM PDT

So i got a text from my brother today saying that his buddy accidentally gave his bitpay BTC legacy address to someone and then requested they pay BCH. They sent the BCH and, as far as i can tell, it's sitting in a hybrid of his legacy address/ a newly formed "cash address format" created based on his legacy BTC address. https://blockchair.com/bitcoin-cash/address/qpdgfd249cze45ruy2tsth0p6sef3tv55ufkps2h2f.

He has the private key and mnemonic seed for the legacy BTC address. How can he gain access to his BCH?

Bitcoin Cash or Monero for future transactions

    Posted: 05 Apr 2018 08:31 AM PDT

Bitcoin will be a storage of value, not something people will want to transact with daily. With that being said, Bitcoin Cash could be an excellent transactional coin as a daily spender in bCommerce. So could Monero, and with privacy...

BCH and XMR can both also be SoV's, so for the title of who wins the daily transactions in the future will it be Bitcoin Cash, Monero, or both??

    Bitcoin Cash Fundamental Analysis

    Posted: 05 Apr 2018 07:02 AM PDT

We did a fundamental analysis of BCH using the lowest GDP nations and certain assumptions... came out with a $4,362 price target... the report is free (I'm not a bot either)... What is holding BCH back? It trades terribly... Other than speed how is it going to rise to full potential in a way that competitors aren't?
