Beware of www.torlitecoin.com - Wallet not allowing withdrawals

    Posted: 02 Mar 2018 10:59 AM PST

I use cryptocurrency on a daily basis and yesterday I was in a huge rush while a friend of mine was sending me ltc. I didn't have my laptop with me so I used my cellphone and signed up quickly for an online wallet (www . torlitecoin . com) I found. Turns out this online wallet doesn't allow withdrawals and is most likely a scam. I'm posting this here so no on else gets scammed. So yes in the first time in nearly 6 years of using crypto currency successfully I rushed a transaction and got scammed. Either way I'm pretty sure this is a new website/new scam hopefully the scammer gets caught.

I'm going to be reporting them to some three letter agencies if anyone has any recommendations please feel free to comment.

    Litecoin balance in wallet

    Posted: 02 Mar 2018 05:23 AM PST

Hi all, my wallet currently shows a 0 balance and I have not downloaded the blockchain yet. However, the inward transaction shows in the wallet.

Question is, will the balance update after downloading the blockchain?

I've downloaded the blockchain, done a -rescan but it still doesn't show. There isn't any transaction outwards either.

    Are my coins lost?

Using litecoin core if it helps. Thanks.

Keep it simple and stay informed about market cap / Litecoin stats with CMC Alert app

    Posted: 02 Mar 2018 12:28 PM PST

    CMC Example1 : https://imgur.com/a/4q229 , CMC Example 2: https://imgur.com/a/dTfNg

Problem: Every time when there are big fluctuations in the Coin Market Cap, most of the coins are going UP or DOWN in the same way. Be informed and act accordingly (for example, when it goes DOWN: you can move into other stable currencies or withdraw; etc.).

NEW: See fluctuations of some currencies too (8 till now).

Recommendation: I recommend you the CMC Alert app, as it gives you the information that you need regarding the Coin Market Cap in a user friendly way, it's simple, efficient and FREE. CMC Alert uses the official Web API from coinmarketcap.com. Why should you use it:

    • It's a hidden notification, only way to see it is if you drag your notification tab down, you don't even know it's there

    • It's a lot faster than going on coinmarketcap.com.

    • Can Set Alarms and Aggressive Alarm mode(optional) - perfect when you want to be awake during nights

    • It's free and requires no permissions so it's safe.

    • Can view prices in BTC/USD/EURO.

    • NEW: Notifications for some crypto currencies too !!

    Google Play link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.companyname.CMCAlert .

It helps me everyday, why not try it yourself! It's also free. Cheers :)

4 Reasons to Buy a LTC Open Dime from the Litecoin Foundation

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 05:47 PM PST

    How It Works

Open Dimes are designed to be a one-time use item.

Plug it into your computer and it'll display a LTC address. Send your LTC to it. You now have a physical item the size of a USB that you can swap with someone else in person at any time.

This is perfect for places like swap meets, deals with your friends, or even businesses who'd be willing to accept it.

When you're ready, you prick it with a pin and it'll reveal the private key to that address which you can then sweep into a wallet like Electrum-LTC

4 Reasons Why You Should Buy it

    1. It's like cash. It's portable, easily verifiable, and it can be continuously exchanged until someone needs to spend it.
    2. Buying it supports Litecoin development through the Litecoin Foundation
    3. You help grow the ecosystem by using Litecoin as a currency.
    4. It'll soon be a collectible like an old typewriter. We are literally participating and living in an era where history is being made. The physical wallets we're using (like a ledger nano s and the open dimes) will eventually phase out. I believe wallet GUI's will become something that you don't really see or realize you're using in the future. In light of this, tokens like open dimes will soon be all we have left to remember the beginning stages of how cryptocurrency eventually changed the world. Honestly, that's why I bought mine. :)

And who knows? Maybe they'll be worth a whole lot more in the future?

Alright convinced? Awesome! You can purchase them here: https://litecoin-foundation.org/product/litecoin-opendime/

Also, if you're stuck in the hodling vs. spending dilemma, remember you can always buy the same amount of LTC you're going to spend and maintain your portfolio!

    Litecoin Withdrawals from Bittrex “Invalid”

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 08:58 PM PST

Is this happening to anyone else today? I've been doing litecoin transactions multiple times per week, but after checking my addresses and 8 tries, I can't get a Litecoin withdrawal to go through for my life. It goes to "authorized" and then goes to "Invalid" — I'm using M-addresses generated by Gdax and coinbase
