I sold 350LTC at around 300$. Holding the rest, 200 of them for the long term.

Finally I will be paying rent (mortgage) to myself and not a land lord.

    Thought I'd share this story!

Thankful, happy and supporting this great community!

    PS: bought in 2013

    For anyone not using GDAX

    Posted: 08 Mar 2018 06:14 AM PST

Use it. I can't believe I waited this long. Free transfers, much more professional platform where you can set limit orders and see all the buys and sells. Very easy transfer between coinbase and GDAX

The recent Mt.Gox related bitcoin shenanigans are just more evidence that we need people to shift away from BTC pairings for their primary trading.

    Posted: 07 Mar 2018 03:20 PM PST

LTC pairing should be at least as prevalent, and if you believe this you should focus your portfolio on alts with LTC pairings

    Litecoin Improvement Proposal 001?

    Posted: 08 Mar 2018 09:31 AM PST

Hi, I have been thinking for a while about contributing to litecoin. There is a bounty for the first LIP that gets approuved and I think after someone breaks the ice, others will submit proposals.

Take in mind that I did not take a look at the programming part before submiting this idea so I'm not sure about how much work it would take to implement.

    Here we go....

Litecoin was created with many ideas in mind including a change in POW for Scrypt mining designed to make mining more democratic. At the moment, the 3 biggest pool take a huge % of the total hashrate. Alone one is far from 51% but it is always a risk we might face. What would you say if we changed mining rules to enhance security and make it more accessible to lower hashrate pools/individuals.

What I propose is that we change mining rules so that a pool/individual can not mine two blocks in a row.

Now, don't get on your horses too quick. In the last 500 block, there was 55 occurences of blocks being mined by the same individual/pool at least twice in a row (highest being 4).

If a pool/individual mines a block, it should not be able to work on the next block since if it is still first to find the answer, it could give it to someone else (right?). That would mitigate a 51% attack possibility and when a pool/individual DO compete with others for a block, it has more chances since there is a player benching this block. It has low to no impact on big pools and will give more chances to lower hashrate individual/pools.

Does that make any sense? What do you guys think? Let's talk about it and depending on what the general feeling is, I'll submit a pull request on github.

Could MtGox sell off be good for Litecoin?

    Posted: 08 Mar 2018 12:12 AM PST

Wondering what people think about the situation and whether Litecoin could use this as an opportunity to detach itself from Bitcoin (price wise)

We know Litecoin is strong, reaching 0.025 BTC so do you think it can return to these levels?
