Question - Task Scheduler - Trigger Restart When a GPU crash

    Posted: 08 Mar 2018 08:16 AM PST

    Hello,

Does anyone know how to setup task scheduler to restart PC if there is an event that happen in eventviewer?

So let say - you get nvlddmkm error in eventviewer (Event ID 4101) - > then trigger for PC to restart.

I get this error once every 3 days. cant find if its because of algo switching or risers. tried everything so far. PC doesn't freeze or hang, just want to do a restart if ever there is an error in event log

I already have task scheduler setup to restart PC daily.

    Thanks.

    1080 TI keeps dropping hashrate

    Posted: 08 Mar 2018 08:27 AM PST

    Hey all,

My 1070s run fine but my 1080 ti (MSI Gaming X) keeps dropping from 720 sols to around 510 sols. This is ridiculous and I've tried to do everything to fix it. Nothing has been working.

This happens only 30% of the time, and I can't keep monitoring my rig. I have my rig set to auto-restart every 12 hours (because it's in another town and the wifi is a lil dinky, so if i cannot remote connect to it due to wifi issues, I can wait max 12 hours and get back in)

More info: The card has Micron memory (not Samsung). Is it just a shitty card?

I've restarted, reset overclock - settings are very safe: 95 power, 80 core, 380 mem, 65 fan. Runs at 57-62 degrees.

If anyone knows how to fix this or has gone through this, any help would be appreciated.

Anyone else happy to see all the new miners bust out?

    Posted: 08 Mar 2018 08:00 AM PST

Maybe this makes me a dick, but all the new miners that got in the game in the last three months are reaping what they sowed. Expecting to get a two month roi on their 250% marked up video card was a huge mistake. They still don't realize that profits this month are the status quo, not a dip.

I'm actually glad we are returning to the old profit levels of last fall. I mine too hodl, and I believe in crypto, so instantaneous profits mean nothing.

    Electricity costs per country/state/prefecture.

    Posted: 08 Mar 2018 03:13 AM PST

I want to compile a list per country and how much you're paying per kwh's.

    1. Country - (state if applicable)
    2. Cost per kwh in usd
    3. How many rigs you have and how much you pay for them monthly.

    I'll start:

    1. Japan
    2. 0.23 cents per kwh
    3. 4x vega and 7x rx570 = 300 usd monthly

    4. USA - Seattle WA lakebay

    5. 0.076 (4 tiers up to .079)cents per kwh

    6. 40x rx570, 10x rx 580, 3x 1080ti = 330 usd monthly

Unstable Hash on RX580 when reseting afterburner or Overdriventool

    Posted: 08 Mar 2018 12:50 AM PST

Have an rx580 4gb gigabyte aorus with hynix memory, and made the oneclickpatch 1.6.7 two months ago with no problems since. But today when i unintentionally click on reset functionatlity in afterburner or Overdriventool, the card get 960h/s. No improvements of hash rate occur when I increase freq of memory from 1750mhz to 1800 etc..

If i restart the amd gpu miner 11.2 with the default setting, the hash is not so high like was before restart, around 890 h/s, and it only increases if i toggle between my setting to default.

Could be a bug in miner? (i tested in amd gpu miner and in cast xmr)

So now i start with my settings, toggle to default and get more hash.. but...doesnt make sense.

Hedge long exposure to your mined coin, but have the option to short the derivative

    Posted: 07 Mar 2018 10:49 PM PST

In order to protect your downside, you can use MARKET Protocol and basically avoid selling your mined coins during bear markets

meaning you can hedge your long exposure to something you're mining/ staking or have a Masternode by using a MARKET contract to short the derivative of the token

this would give miners a hedge to always cover the overhead during bear markets

Best coins to mine for GPU right now (eps. NVIDIA)

    Posted: 07 Mar 2018 10:40 AM PST

ZCL A few days ago, BitcoinPrivate (BTCP) forked from Zclassic to form a new chain. ZCL suffered heavy dump (as expected) and lots of miners left it for other coins. However, thanks to less number miners, now ZCL becomes the most profitable coin for us (especially NVIDIA owners). You can check here at www.whattomine.com

BTCP Another one is BTCP itself, even though it is not yet listed on major exchanges and thus, many people are still skeptical about it. But this one might has great potential and brings nice profits since the hashing power of the network is not much for now (too much uncertainty).

Since both of them are Equihash, it is easy to switch and OC. We are currently running an Equihash pool with 0% fee as well (with BTCP and ZCL of course) at https://www.get2mine.com and looking for other quality projects to list.

So let us know if you have any other good coin to mine that we can list on our pool!

    Edit: typo

    smoking GPU

    Posted: 07 Mar 2018 10:01 PM PST

While I was inspecting my rig everything seemed fine then all of a sudden saw a GPU start smoking right at the bottom of the PCB. Quickly killed the switch on the PSU and when I took the card off the i could smell the burnt smell. Now it doesn't look damaged. Is there a safe easy way to test if it still works or should I simply RMA it and not bother plugging it in.

Also there was a PSU molex cable touching the area where the smoke happened.... how can I test that cable without any risk?

The rest of the components on the rig seemed fine. Even booted it up again and it looks ok though I haven't started mining on it just yet.

6x GPU Rig not picking up 4 GPU

    Posted: 07 Mar 2018 04:57 PM PST

Ok so I am having a strange problem. I have a Biostar TB250-BTC Mobo and 6 various 1070s. 2x Rosewill Gold 750M power supplies.

When I power on all graphics cards are working and lighting up. Fans spinning and all.

But MSI and device manager in windows are both showing up with the first two 1070s and the Internal GPU.

What should I try? Right now I am attempting to reinstall drivers now that I have all the cards plugged in.

    Thoughts?

Question to Russian miners: Largest GPU importers in Russia?

    Posted: 07 Mar 2018 08:05 PM PST

Who do you think are the largest GPU importers in Russia. I know that the markets are usually ruled by companies who have large network of locations, but it's not always the case. So which companies/sites do you think are the most important importers of GPUs in Russia? Both for NVidia and AMD.

8th GPU not recognized by Windows 10

    Posted: 07 Mar 2018 04:19 PM PST

Hi, I've build up mining rig with MSI Z270-A and 8x Nvidia 1070Ti GPUs. I stuffed some of GPUs into PCIe slots with risers, and the rest into PCIe-to-USB 4x riser. But regardless of which GPU I stuff where, I can only get to 7 GPUs being recognized by Windows 10.

Updated Windows 10 to latest, patched nVidia drivers to latest, reinstalled them fresh, removed all cards and tried different combinations, stuffed them in one-by-one, tried 5 risers + 3 in adapter, tried 3 risers, 4 in adapter, 1 to M.2 riser, tried different PCIe slots...but still cannot get Win 10 to recognize 8th GPU.

Is there maybe something in BIOS? Of course, I have "Above 4G" ENABLED, UEFI Enabled, Win 7 Disabled, HD Audio DISABLED, COM and LPT ports DISABLED. I have also DISABLED integrated Intel HD graphics, but still no joy.

Maybe anything to do with "PCI Latency timer" which can be set to 32, 64, 128, 196, 224?

    Ideas welcome.

Powering 6 pin risers with 6pin to sata cables on 65% power 1060s(2 risers per sata cable). I feel like the numbers allow it, but it's high advised not to do so. Thoughts?

    Posted: 07 Mar 2018 09:16 PM PST

I just like making use of my extra sata cables, which work a lot better than the stiffer vga cables. I know this is a dumb reason, but it started when I ran out of vga cables, and am still using this method. The gpu's themselves are still power by 6pins. What are your thoughts on this?

Edit: My reasoning being, they allow 54W safely and 1060s peak at 62W. At 65% power settings, I'm at 40W, much less than 54W.
