Hi! We think we're the worlds first antique shop to accept Ethereum and we have an ENS address! Posted: 31 Mar 2018 09:38 AM PDT Hi everyone! We're long time fans of Etrhereum, well, not as long as probably most of you guys and girls but since last March anyway. We love the tech and are really looking forward to the future of it and what it brings. We've not got an ICO going or anything like that though we're very much looking in to what can be done to aid the antiques world and our clients. If we do come up with something, we'll certainly be back in here for opinions if that's OK. So at present, we've decided to accept Ethereum as a payment option and we've even gone so far as to get our own ENS address! We specialise in really nice Antiques and collectibles, the rare, unusual, and sometimes downright quirky. A lot of it is entirely useable, rather than just being for decoration (though it all looks pretty damn good as well!). We've got great barware, smoking items, Louis Vuitton luggage, Hermes items (Birkin and other handbags coming in the next few days!) and much much more. We're adding to the site over the next week or so and will also be introducing jewellery with some fantastic pieces due to be listed. Please feel free to check us out at: At present we don't publish Ether prices due to the fluctuations, which can be quite large on an hourly basis, let alone daily. We also trade in GBP so we'll have to be doing conversions from Eth>USD>GBP. Because of that, if anything takes your fancy, please click on the little Eth logo we knocked up next to prices and send us an email. We guarantee to honour the quoted Eth price for 24 hours and all list prices are negotiable! We know we're not exactly changing the world by accepting Eth (except bridging the gap between the old and the new) but we feel that the more people who start accepting it, the better it will be for mass adoption and we hope to assist in that! So thanks for reading this far and we look forward to hearing from you! [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Mar 2018 08:00 PM PDT Hi there, I wrote a script to track ASIC miners using public information and eth.sparkpool.com API. Here are what I have found so far. These users seem to be on ASIC. All of their machine are running at 500 MH/s. They started mining from 26th March. https://eth.sparkpool.com/#/miner?99e48facf1e2350ab6d74e77dc3a104f2dfb0d26 https://image.ibb.co/kEogUn/Screen_Shot_2018_04_01_at_4_41_19_am.png https://eth.sparkpool.com/#/miner?0x8e3bd6f4efbfc1e6d6c09aaea5bc3939c74fe7e2 https://image.ibb.co/d5J9FS/Screen_Shot_2018_04_01_at_3_05_46_am.png https://eth.sparkpool.com/#/miner?00796fb766efce05358bceaf097b177abf453152 https://image.ibb.co/hKnapn/Screen_Shot_2018_04_01_at_3_33_32_am.png https://eth.sparkpool.com/#/miner?9b17ec0be906997f0a8c0ec990870f12ba970981 https://image.ibb.co/d7nmvS/Screen_Shot_2018_04_01_at_4_01_34_am.png Another interesting thing from the above links is that the miners are named in sequence - 0034 to 0078. Other than that I wasn't able to find anyone with 500 MH/s miners. Also I wasn't able to find the Taiwanese miner whom claimed to be using Bitmain F3. (finding with his miner username and hashrate) on sparkpool which is the same as ethfans.org. https://imgur.com/gallery/pUS2r It seems to be fake. Anyway, I don't know bitmain ETH addresses. However, there are not much ASIC miners on sparkpool. Let me know what you guys think! I will continue to run my script and then update later. Cheers. [link] [comments]
How does the Dai stablecoin keep its value and is it safe? Posted: 31 Mar 2018 05:13 AM PDT I understand that the Dai stablecoin is decentralized and much different from something like Tether, but how exactly does Dai keep its value pegged to $1? And is it safe to put say $1000 into it and know that in 2 years it will still be worth $1000? [link] [comments]
Why would Ethereum fork with the upcoming switch to POS? Posted: 31 Mar 2018 12:00 PM PDT I'm not saying I would disagree with the fork, because with any other coin I would fully support this. I am just confused why it matters that much if Ethereum is supposed to switch to POS soon? [link] [comments]
Ethereum Denver: Solidity Dev Track & 4th Anniversary Party Posted: 31 Mar 2018 02:29 PM PDT Hi all - Is everyone finally recovered from the ETHDENVER Hackathon? Good! It's time to get the meetup back into full swing. Join us on Thursday at Enterprise Coworking, where ETHDEN co-organizer Coury Ditch will be dropping serious Solidity knowledge. His talk is entitled "Solidity Dev Track: Smart Contract Authorization. Exploring Dapphub's 'Guard' pattern." Please note this presentation begins promptly at 6:30 in the Enterprise classroom (downstairs). At 7:30 we'll shift things over to the commons area. No formal presentations or agenda - just an opportunity to connect and talk crypto with your fellow meetup members. It's been four insane and wonderful years since this meetup started. Let's reflect on how far we've come, and think about what's next - both as a local community, and as a global ecosystem. Beer provided. THANKS TO OUR SPONSOR: Big props, once again, to Ideas By Nature (http://www.ideasbynature.com/) for sponsoring Ethereum Denver. IBN continues to aggressively hire in the blockchain and development space. They're Denver-based, filled with talented people, and working on some truly groundbreaking projects. Please note that due to venue size, we're capping attendance at 180. Cheers, Kent / Sasha / Coury RSVP here: https://www.meetup.com/Ethereum-Denver/events/248467966/ [link] [comments]

Why aren't we riding the privacy backlash wave? Posted: 31 Mar 2018 06:48 PM PDT Recent public scrutiny of practices at multiple social media sites are a huge opportunity for decentralised applications. Why aren't dapps, old (akasha etc...) and new riding this wave? Seems like a huge opportunity, kind of like how the 2008 financial crisis may have contributed to bitcoin's rise as a "thing of value". How smart are Smart Contracts? Posted: 31 Mar 2018 06:59 PM PDT
if the contract is to become a notary, it should have self-defense and self-preservation mechanisms as there will be a lot of contracts that will flag "malicious" contracts to sniffer contracts. [link] [comments]
Is it possible to do multi-stage transactions on the ethereum network? Posted: 31 Mar 2018 06:40 PM PDT I have seen some transactions like this one on Etherdelta recently, and I was wondering what exactly is happening here. It looks like they sent ether to Etherdelta, purchased some DENT token, and withdrew the DENT all in one transaction. Can anyone verify my impression? And if that is possible, does anyone know a good resource to learn how to create transactions like this? [link] [comments]

Posted: 31 Mar 2018 08:11 PM PDT Thank you all for your responses to my last question, I just have one left: What are the functionality differences/limitations between ETH and ETC? What functions/applications/solutions would I only be able to do with ETH rather than ETC? Why not just use the cheaper ETC to do whatever is being done with ETH right now? [link] [comments]

Challenges Faced by Independent Content Creators in the Entertainment Space Posted: 30 Mar 2018 11:57 PM PDT Many aspiring script-writers spending many years of life juggling a full-time job that pays and his passion for writing, they believes that his script is unique as nothing like that has been created yet that can change the way people think. they incredibly excited to have a show made on it so that it reaches out to people who can then decide if they like it or not. However, they doesn't have any private wealth or insider connections in the entertainment biz to convert her script into something tangible. grnelly they doesn't have enough money to fund a show. Consequently, funding has been a burning roadblock to fulfilling a lifelong dream. there are thousands of content creators who are capable of breakthroughs with ideas that are not 'mainstream,' and there are millions like us who are craving for content that's raw and real. Our entertainment industry suffers from an inessential gap, and the independent content creators are facing a number of challenges. [link] [comments]

Posted: 31 Mar 2018 03:20 PM PDT I am relatively new to all of this which explains why i am not really able to grasp the entirety of the concept (yet?). I feel like Ive come across the phrase "regulated blockchain bank" here and there. What exactly is holding market participants back in pursuing this? Is it the prevailing regulation which doesn't allow it? But central banks seem to experiment with it too? If the (lack of) regulation is indeed the problem, why don't existing institutions look into this? Their barrier of entry should be smaller? eg experience paired with governments trust? On the other hand there are so many comments on banks being on the verge of becoming obsolete. How do these two views go together? I am sorry, i feel like i am missing a bunch of pieces to the puzzle- are there any good articles anyone could recommend? Any and every input would be truly appreciated! [link] [comments] |
