I used their site to purchase flights and hotel a few weeks ago for an upcoming trip. I had to use Shapeshift as they only accepted Bitcoin Core, even though they use Coinbase, so I mentioned it to customer service, not expecting anything to happen. I was pleasantly surprised today when they called to let me know that as of today, they also support Bitcoin Cash! 👌 Winning!

And yes, I also checked Destinia but their prices were substantially higher.

We need some Bitcoin Cash youtubers. There's a serious lack of pro-BCH content on youtube.

    Posted: 27 Mar 2018 05:42 PM PDT

Yesterday, I copied the CoinText.io promo video from Twitter to Youtube.

Today (March 27, 2018), CoinText.io launched their public beta, and there's a lot of excitement in the BCH communities (like r/btc and r/bitcoincash ).

Yet, if you search youtube for "cointext" videos in the past week, my uploaded video is literally the ONLY cointext video in all of youtube.

If we want BCH adoption, we need more pro-BCH videos on platforms like Youtube.

It would be great to see occasional youtube videos covering BCH news, or tutorials / reviews (Using Bitpay & BCH; CoinEx.com the BCH-based exchange; Trying out the CoinText.io beta; etc)

Questioning Everything About BTC and BCH (Part 2)

    Posted: 27 Mar 2018 10:17 PM PDT

    Link to Previous Thread

The only reason I bothered to post in this sub is because I had some genuine concerns that needed answers after learning some things about BTC. The users here actually defended BTC in that regard (Question 2) and cleared my suspicions. It was mostly conjecture, but still something to be mindful of.

Here's a list of things that describe me before researching Bitcoin Cash for the first time.

    • Subscribed to r/cryptocurrency, r/bitcoin and r/btc, and various other crypto subs but rarely visited r/btc, if ever.

    • Did not know much about Roger Ver, only that he's controversial and represents Bitcoin Cash for some reason.

    • Thought increasing the 1 MB block size limit was unnecessary and off-chain solutions are the best path for adoption. That SegWit and Lightning Network were the way forward.

    • That BCH is simply a copy of BTC and isn't making any progress.

    • Was completely unaware that censorship on bitcoin discussion channels was a problem. Saw it occasionally mentioned that altcoin discussion is banned on r/bitcoin, but thought nothing of it. Assumed BCH supporters were mostly trolls and that's why it's disallowed or banned.

And I'm only now discovering that certain keywords will get your posts auto-modded on r/Bitcoin. Believe it or not, I had no idea this was the case since I'm a super lurker. Even though I knew altcoin discussion was banned, it doesn't actually register as a problem until you see it for yourself.

Keep in mind that not even a day ago I thought Bitcoin Cash was some kind of scam bound to fail.

I think the best way to reach out to others who were in my situation is to share alarming truths with them. Thanks to the response of this sub I'll be doing my part in this as well.

Questioning Everything About BTC and BCH

    Posted: 27 Mar 2018 09:25 AM PDT

    Hello,

I've been invested in BTC since early 2017, but I would still consider myself a layman in the cryptocurrency space.

I've been ignoring the Bitcoin Cash hard fork all this time and only just now discovering some disturbing revelations about BTC (Core).

So you can imagine how I might feel right now. Everything I've known about BTC is being brought into question, and I don't know if it's all conspiracy or if there's hard evidence to support my findings about BCH.

There are millions of people like me who don't do more than surface level research due to lack of time, knowledge, or both.

I would appreciate any information I can get as I learn more about the BCH hard fork.

    So here are my questions:

    1. What the HELL is going on? Why have BTC maximalists like myself been ignoring everything about BCH? Why is there so much negativity between the two?

    2. What's all this about the developers of Bitcoin Core (BTC) being in the pocket of central bankers? I want hard evidence only, so I can look deeper into this. This is the main thing that brought me to this subreddit.

    3. What are some of the most important pieces of information you want to relay to people, about both BTC and BCH? What are the things you want BTC maximalists to understand?

    4. What is the deal with Roger Ver? A lot of the negativity surrounding BCH revolves around him and I don't know why.

    5. Why do only BTC and ETH have altcoin pairings and not BCH?

    6. What else can you tell me so that I can research further?
Satoshi's original vision, what's really going on, miscellaneous things about Bitcoin Core and Bitcoin Cash that many people have missed in the last year, etc.

Also would appreciate if someone can explain [in layman terms] what these posts by Satoshi entail:

BRYCE WEINER: Lightning Networks are a similar sort of deception as “ASIC resistance.” I don’t think the Core crowd believes any of their nonsense anymore though except as a groupthink exercise. They don’t evangelize because it’s obvious nonsense.

    Favorite Satoshi's Vision Talks?

    Posted: 27 Mar 2018 12:10 PM PDT

Hello everyone, I don't have enough time to watch the entire Satoshi's vision stream, but I have time for a few! What are your favorite talks from the conference? I really enjoyed the Bitcoin-NG talk by Emin Gun Sirer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jn_Z72H0SwY

As well as the hardware centric scaling talk by Joannes Vemorel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKFkhWWiLDk

A few of them were a bit dry, these guys brought some really great energy though. Hopefully I can see you guys there next year! Let me know your favorite talks from the conference
