Ripple gets a good mention here. In fact, it was the only one.

Ripple/XRP price and the total number of blockchain users.

    Posted: 26 Feb 2018 02:54 PM PST

We see a lot of speculation on the price of cryptos in the near future, a lot of talk about use cases, adoption and so on.

What we seem to lose perspective on is how many people/institutions are currently using (buying/selling/transferring) cryptos including XRP and where these number are likely to head in the future.

If you look at the Statista graph linked below, you will see that the current estimate for the number of blockhain wallets for Q4 2017 is 21.5 million.

According to an authoritative study by the university of Cambridge "between 5.8 million and 11.5 million wallets are estmated to be currently active". Also "The current number of unique active users of crypocurrency wallets is estimated to be between 2.9 million and 5.8 million". OK, that number also includes businesses and institutions, not only individuals, but let's go ahead and do some calculations to keep things in perspective:

If you divide that number by the current global population (7.6 billion), that's 0.00039 % for the low estimate and 0.00077% for the high estimate. That's approximately 3.9-7.7/10.000 people that are active cryptocurrency users. Let's say 4-8/10.000 people for simplicity's sake.

Now remember that Ripple/XRP currently has about 10% of the total crypto market cap. So that would mean approximately 4 to 8 out of 100.000 people in the world are Ripple/XRP users.

If you went to the Superbowl and asked 100.000 spectators if they are using XRP/Ripple, statistically speaking only 4-8 of them would say yes.

So, leaving market cap, use cases, xRapid trials aside, ask yourself, what would be the price of Ripple/XRP if you went to the Superbowl and 400-800 out of 100.000 people said they are using Ripple, all other things being equal? Could it be $100? And still, that's a tiny percentage of all the people that you asked.

It's easy to lose perspective when you spend all day in forums etc and you may think that crypto is already massive. No it isn't. Crypto hasn't even started yet. XRP/Ripple hasn't even started yet. It's important to keep that in mind when you try to guess where it's heading.

Fun XRP maths exercise (please DYOR)

Funds held in Nostro/Vostro accounts: $27,000,000,000,000

Ripple targets 1% of Nostro/Vostro funds for XRP investment: $270,000,000,000

    Current Marketcap: $37,000,000,000

    Current XRP price: $0.95

Apply a conservative market multiplier of X4 to capital influx of $270,000,000,000 = $1,080,000,000,000

Future December 2018 XRP Marketcap: $1,117,000,000,000

Assume Ripple sells all escrow coins for the next 10 months

    Future December 2018 XRP supply = 50,000,000,000

    $1,117,000,000,000 MC/50,000,000,000 XRP supply = $22.34 per XRP

2365% increase from current $0.95 price

What is a realistic ceiling for Ripple (XRP)?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2018 08:06 AM PST

I have seen calculations of people saying it can't really get any higher than $20, I've seen people that don't think it will exceed $5. Then I've seen the crazy $1000 projection. Based on the math (if that's possible), what is the estimated ceiling price?

Hoping to acquire 500-1000 XRP in the next two months.

    XRP Market Leader

    Posted: 26 Feb 2018 01:05 AM PST

I just wanted to start a debate on when people think XRP will significantly remove itself from the influence of XBT and become the dominant force in Crytpo.

I am optimistic, perhaps overly so, that by the end of Q2 18, XRP will be at least matching XBT in market cap poised to take over.

XRP has never been in a stronger position with exposure and partnerships growing on a daily basis. Once xRapid is out of beta and a couple of "household" names have announced successful pilots I don't see anything else holding it back.

Interested to here others thoughts on this topic? Maybe I need grounding a little?

    Hodling since June17.

It's a hearts and minds thing

    Posted: 26 Feb 2018 05:57 AM PST

Noticing (as many do) the magnetic push/pull of BTC on XRP and others, I've got the following thoughts to share with y'all.

    • Bitcoin and altcoins (other than XRP) exist thanks initially to an anarchistic (and more recently, quite noticeably vocal) anti-bank crypto subculture, underpinned by a technology that 99 point many nines percent of the current investor community are not interested in (let alone capable of understanding)
    • This creates a perpetual safe space for said counter-culture movement to conduct their anything-but-mainstream, leaderless hydra-headed propaganda war (perhaps just a digital extension of teenage f**k-the-world angst?) against "the man"
    • a bunch of whales with trading bots are taking full advantage of this!
    • The unshakeable lift/drag of BTC is only lifting up or dragging down altcoin(s) because there is no other counter-culture movement that can outstrip the power of this collective anti-mainstream tantrum.
    • What XRP needs is not more banks and a critical mass of contracts with "the man". It needs the legitimacy of a chorus of voices from within the cryptocurrency "movement" - voices which are respected by the zealots who want to take down the man.

In other words it's not so much a technology problem or a decentralization-vs-centralization problem.

    It's simply a perception problem.

Maybe if the small army of counter-cultural, anarchistic, loud, social-media-bombarding, bank-bashing, fiat-currency-using hypocrites were able to be calmed down, swayed, by a risen-again Jesus figure with the mystical pulling power of a Satoshi Nakamoto, we'd have been spending Zerps at Starbucks long ago.

Ripple Waxes Lyrical On Frictionless Brazilian Payments

    Posted: 26 Feb 2018 02:16 PM PST

Wonder if Ripple has explored the payments within the pharmaceutical industry?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2018 08:25 PM PST

Might not be as lucrative as nabbing a large bank or remittance company... but healthcare cost savings are under the microscope at the moment, and could bring some highly positive light onto the first folks who get it right. You have companies like Amazon, Berkshire-Hathaway, and JP Morgan Chase linking up... so there's money to be made/saved or they wouldn't be spending their resources. Another interesting note is that the top 10 countries by pharmaceutical output make up about 75%, with the top exporter being Germany. Maybe more suitable cryptocurrencies for blockchaining the transfer of ownership of scrips, but money transfer is behind everything, and these are cross-boarder transactions. Companies like Johnson & Johnson and Gilead Sciences hold billons abroad, and pharma is constantly consumed. So, I'm guessing there would be constant financial movement costs that ultimately are passed to all of us. Seems like an opportunity on the surface, but wouldn't be an easy undertaking by any stretch of the imagination. Not sure where I'm headed with this... maybe just more of that good ol' Ripple fan fiction.
