Zebpay doing 1mil a day in xrp so far

    Posted: 19 Feb 2018 05:39 AM PST

The first week everyone stated they weren't a big exchange ( I contested saying they do more volume than koinex overall). The first week they did 7k, 10k, then 30k in xrp. 10 million over all coins. Week two we are already seeing almost 1 million in usd per day for just XRP volume, which is already as much volume as koinex, the top Xrp/INR exchange.

    https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/zebpay/

Therefore Zebpay is significant, especially considering the growth in time to come with India accepting crypto more and more. Its .01 % now but with indias new tech innovations, growth, and crypto interest ( along with high population).

    • Im not saying its gonna be a top 10 exchange for volume of xrp, which normally contribute 5% or more, but it can definitely be like the top 11-100 exchanges making up .5% to 1% of the xrp volume.

This was in response to stuff like this https://www.reddit.com/r/XRP/comments/7xwgjs/zebpay_is_not_a_big_deal_for_xrp_anyone_who_says/?st=JDUE1FZZ&sh=7d31e687

    SBI XRP test results?

    Posted: 19 Feb 2018 04:50 AM PST

So i remember around Xmas time people spoke about the SBI tests ending at the end of January - consensus at the time seemed to be that we'd hear about how these tests went some time in Feb

All we've heard since is that they're setting up a crypto exchange.

Will we ever hear how the XRP tests they were running went?

English version of Chris Larsen interview

    Posted: 19 Feb 2018 08:00 AM PST

Chris Larsen is not in doubt about the future of payments: "The world will look completely different in 10 years"

Chris Larsen, who has Danish ideas, has an ambition to make cross-border payments significantly easier and cheaper through the company Ripple.

A few years ago, some in the financial world drew on the smiley of Chris Larsen's project. You do not do that anymore. The American with Danish ancestors brought in Forbes's list of the richest in the world, because his crying currency has risen explosively in value. Although Chris Larsen's fortune has dived significantly lately, wealth can still get the bonus-begun bankers on Wall Street to light the night in a green nuance of deep envy.

The world has realized that bitcoin is not going to be the world's payment infrastructure

In January, Chris Larsen's assets reached the paper at 39.9 billion. dollars, equivalent to 246 billion. It was not only enough to make ordinary people dizzy; it was also enough that his wealth was greater than people like Paul Allen, who helped to set up Microsoft. The comparison is not quite crazy. For what Microsoft helped to do to the Internet with Browser Explorer, Chris Larsen will make payments with Ripple, which includes stands behind the XRP cryptographic box. He imagines a future with the internet of value , as he calls it. Here, it will not only be data that flows freely across borders but also values. Today, for example, it takes days to transfer money to the other side of the Atlantic, but it should include Ripple's global payment network, the Ripple, changes. And in a safe way, it is faster and cheaper than the banks own systems can. Although it sounds far-reaching, recent developments in crypto currencies have made Chris Larsen listen to. Also in the financial world. Major banks like UBS, Crédit Agricole and Santander are now collaborating with Ripple. And more people are interested in Ripples technology, which can transfer money across national borders with a snap. "The banks will now be part of it so it's exciting. In 2014, we would never see a bank considering blockchain to resolve cross-border payments. But now it's probably the top of the agenda in each bank, "says Chris Larsen in a telephone interview with Finans. Chris Larsen was born in 1960 and is behind a strip of technology startups in California where he was born. In 1996, he helped to establish the digital lender E-loan that went on the stock exchange in 1999. And his Danish ancestors come from the grandparents who came from a small town outside Aarhus. Finally, he has studied in Copenhagen. In 2015 Copenhagen was the meeting place for Finance's first interview with Chris Larsen. He was in the country to talk to unnamed banks. You can see something that reminds you of day trading, so speculatively. I would like to warn people against it At that time, Chris Larsen was Ripple's director - a company he helped to establish but now he has replaced this post with the seat at the end of the board end in the boardroom. From this place he has been able to follow the violent development of cryptic currencies in 2017. This was the year when the value of the world's crypto currencies almost exploded, so many began to talk about a decisive bubble. In 2017, Ripple's XRP, which can also be included in the company's solutions to the banks, increased its value by no less than 36,000 per cent. In January 2017 it cost only $ 0.006, while it reached about $ 3 a year later. The sharp increase meant that at the beginning of the year, XRP had the second largest market value and was thus only surpassed by bitcoin. "It has been incredible in 2017. Crypto currencies have gone from being a niche asset to a large asset category," says Chris Larsen. Since the interview took place, the XRP has fallen to just over $ 1. Thus there are approx. been cut two thirds of the value of the 5.2 billion. XRPs, which Chris Larsen holds. In addition, his ownership of Ripple, so his fortune is still well above the magic limit of 1 billion. dollars. Closer, we will not talk about his wealth. That was the only thing that Chris Larsen had preached for the interview itself - like many other wealthy people - that he would not talk about. However, he would like to talk about everything else. Especially the big progress in crypto currencies. When looking at the graphs of the cryptic sky, the mind is directed towards the dot.com bubble that broke in the early '00s. "I think there is a lot of speculation on the market. But there are two shades. The one is that you see something that resembles day trading, so speculative. I would like to warn people, because during the dot.com bubble it did not work well for many people. " Despite the speculative trade, what is happening within crypto currencies differs from what happened under the dot.com bubble, Chris Larsen points out. Many IT companies did not earn money at the time, but talked roughly about their burn rate . So how much money they spent. The more money the companies burned, the better it was almost. It turned out, in the clear light of the wardrobe, not to stumble. But with the crypto currencies, players in this field have already secured a way to make money. And the crying currencies also differ from the dot.com bubble, because it was the big players who stood on the car first under the bubble, while private investors first boarded just before the market broke. Data can encourage the terrorist to do something terrible, but money can buy weapons. So there's more to play here than with the internet "Here are cryptic currencies somewhat different from other assets we have seen over the years. Private have traded them for five to eight years, and now the institutions have entered. Among professional investors, I think there is a conclusion that there is a likelihood that it will lead to internet of value , "said Chris Larsen, who again draws the thread back to the IT bubble. "Professional investors probably look at what happened to the Internet. It was definitely hyped, so there was a bubble and a collapse. But now 20 years later, I think it's safe to conclude that the Internet was underpinned then. " Today, the Internet is almost everywhere, and it has contributed to globalization. But if globalization is to be completed, something is missing, says Chris Larsen. Such payments flow as easily across boundaries as data. "Therefore, globalization is still unpopular. It's not because globalization is bad. It is just incomplete. To make globalization work, there is a need for a connection between data, goods and money. At present, we currently only have data through the Internet and goods through ship containers. But the money is missing, "says Chris Larsen and comes with an example. "You can get data in Tanzania, and you can be an Airbnb host in Tanzania. We have an example where the host sends an invoice to the customer of $ 29, but the host ends $ 9 when the money reaches. Until we fix that problem, globalization will not work. This new technology will solve this problem and it will make the world much more efficient and I think the world will look completely different in 10 years, "says Chris Larsen. While bitcoin was created as a rebellion against the established banking world, Ripple collaborates with just the banking world. Currently with approx. 100 banks at global level, including Swedish SEB, and one has an idea that you need to raise 200 to reach a critical mass. How long it takes to get to the point when Chris Larsen's vision is fulfilled is obviously unclear. But it will change the world and it will have a greater potential than the Internet itself. Therefore, it is also difficult to assess whether it is a bubble, says Chris Larsen. "Data can help you complete medicine, but money can buy the medicine. Data can encourage the terrorist to do something terrible, but money can buy weapons. So there's more to play here than with the internet, "says Chris Larsen. The big question is whether there is a single cryptovaluta that runs all the credit and which one will be? "I'm of course biased, but I think we have the best technology. I think that we have proven to work with the financial industry. The world has realized that bitcoin is not going to be the world's payment infrastructure. It's too expensive, too slow, there's a huge waste of energy and it's too hard to scale, "says Chris Larsen, pointing out, however, that it's hard to say if the winner takes it all , or there will be a small number of players on the back of the stage.

    RE: The 161billion payment volume

    Posted: 18 Feb 2018 10:21 PM PST

Hello everyone, I haven't been around these parts in a while. As most of you may know I have significant experience in tracking transactions in the ripple ledger (and to this day still track 93% of all XRP).

I have had a look at the address here: https://bithomp.com/explorer/r42bkC8QGXQocD35D8cA7e37cXGCCncoCW

What you see are "IOU"'s so there's no need to panic in terms of "Omg hack, omg whatever" these are simply just placeholder values used by exchanges when they intend to start up a new wallet, especially for cold storage.

Edit, more information courtesy of Sukrim: "Mr. Ripple/Exchange moved funds to one of their own wallets (in the form of an IOU) but that wallet isn't added as a "hot wallet" to the Data API server (cold), so xrpcharts thinks it represents actual funds."

Why would they do this? In september of last year mr ripple changed their name to mr exchange. This is a high volume exchange in Japan and they may just be making a new address to have its nickname changed to be "mr exchange" rather than "mr ripple". Bit more professional don't you think :P

Hope all of you are more informed about this now! :)

If you'd like to chat further head on over to the ripple (XRP) discord where I am the moderator: "Hygeial" :)

Also working on something really special for you guys for keeping track of those zerps :)

Global international settlements and XRP use case

    Posted: 19 Feb 2018 05:37 AM PST

As per the statement from the bank of international settlements (BIS), there is 5.1 trillion (USD equivalent) in foreign currency traded daily (in 2016). That's 1,860 trillion USD annually. To put this into perspective Moneygram and Western Union moved an estimated 109 billion USD of currency in 2013 which is minuscule compared to global settlements although have the greatest friction.

It makes complete sense for Moneygram and Western Union to take advantage of xRapid that utilised XRP as they will reap the most of the benefit for them and the consumers utilising their services.

XRP volumes and price have increased exponentially over the last few months. It is hard to estimate how much of the current developments are build into the price right now. XRP charts as of 02/19/2018 has $3.36m daily volume at a $1.1 XRP/USD. That's $1.22b annual XRP volume. If the volume from Moneygram and Western Union transitions to XRP, there should be a notable increase in price. Hard to speculate.

In either case, my point here is that this is less important. If these xRapid trials are a success it is the inevitable flow on effect of much larger financial intermediaries that will bring the major shift. And given there are hundreds on banks using xCurrent, pitching xRapid as the logical upgrade with 30% additional cost efficiency would be a salesman dream. And Ripple have front line to do it. 2018 will be an interesting year.

Companies using XRP - Follow Up - Live Sheets

    Posted: 18 Feb 2018 11:11 PM PST

Following up from this great info graphic. https://www.reddit.com/r/Ripple/comments/7yhs4n/companies_using_xrp/

It's also been on my list for a while and after seeing someone had beaten me too it I thought I would follow on from their amazing work and create a live google sheets document which we can collaboratively update.

I have not gotten around to it, but this document should list all partnerships including xCurrent, xRapid and xVia. Hopefully together we can make this a pretty slick community driven spreadsheet.

You can find the Google Sheet here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1E1AcLBd_ykemoDAPwZsbl5f2wyrS7RhlAt94CrHXTAg/edit?usp=sharing

    XRP Burn off Question

    Posted: 19 Feb 2018 11:37 AM PST

I keep seeing a lot of people talking about the burn off of xrp and was wondering if someone could explain this in detail?

On a side note, does anyone think that Ripple has the ability to hold pricing around the $1 USD range? Or is that eventually something ultimately outside of their control due to this burn off?

    Posted: 19 Feb 2018 02:43 AM PST

I'm not asking what's your price prediction, but what scenario must be achieved in order to have a very stable price (as gold or other commodities for example)
