    Baby rig...

    Posted: 18 Feb 2018 08:18 PM PST

Took us a bit of time to figure everything out, but I think we finally got it. What do you guys think? Top 3 still need some work (30 rx580’s, 6 mobo’s, and 6 psu’s).

rig wont boot up after pluggin gpus in?

    Posted: 19 Feb 2018 08:07 AM PST

Hello, I am looking for some advice regarding my issue.

    I have 6 gtx 1060 6gb GPU's /NVIDIA. MOBO: MSI Z170A PLUS What ive done so far:

I followed this guide: https://forum.z.cash/t/msi-z170-7-gpu-bios-setting-step-by-step/14473, (this worked on my other identical build). I have m flashed my mobo with 7998v1D (E7998IMS) , downloaded from msi's official website.

when i try to start the rig up it gets stuck at this screen: https://imgur.com/a/FqLC9

when i unplug the gpus windows 10 starts up normal, any advice what the problem could be?

Do i have to start windows and go to nvidia and download their drivers for the gpus? I didn't do this last time but its only of the only things I havent attempted.

Since SATA riser adapters are so bad what PSU should I get?

    Posted: 19 Feb 2018 12:25 AM PST

I didn't know that SATA cables are so "Dangerous" when I bought my PSU.

It doesn't have any molex cables and there is only one 8 pin left.

So are you telling me now I need to spend $300 on a PSU just to power my risers on 3 cards?

    The future of mining?

    Posted: 18 Feb 2018 10:53 PM PST

Over the past weeks I've gotten more intrigued by the idea of building a mining rig. I'm not a gamer and don't have any experience with this type of thing so it will take a fair amount of dedication to do all the research required.

Before I get balls deep into yet another new hobby, I just wanted to get your feel on the future of mining. I've read that the future of crypto won't necessarily be in mining, and will instead move to staking/ other validation techniques. Is it even worth getting into this at this point in the game? I know difficulty is rising, GPU costs are up, etc. but can I still swing a profit with a beginner setup for any reasonable amount of time?

Side question: what kind of profit are you pulling off of what initial investment? Thanks!

Why does claymore miner open and then just close right away?

    Posted: 19 Feb 2018 07:35 AM PST

Hey fellow miners. I'm having an issue with claymore where it just opens right away and then just closes like 2 seconds later. It doesn't say there is an error or anything. All my drivers are installed. It's been running fine for about 3 months and now this is happening. It started happening around 5:38 A.M. EST. I've restarted, checked drivers, and still nothing. I've tried replacing all the files with a fresh version and still nothing. I use nanopool to mine. Any help would be much appreciated. I've never seen this issue before. I tried looking it up here and reddit and i don't see anything.

Quesstions about using server power supplies

    Posted: 19 Feb 2018 03:44 AM PST

So I was thinking about using server psu for my next rigs.
I have Biostar Pro mobos that will take 12 cards each coming in a couple of days. My current 6 card machines pull about 850 from the wall when single mining, around 1000 when dual. I'm on Ethos so can't really guess what the cards only are using.
What's available are Dell server psu's in various watts, but all come with 12 pci only. So I could use 2 1200 watt server psus, each card and riser needs a cable.
But if I buy a 2400 watt psu I would save some, however I'm not sure if it's safe to split the 6 pin cables to power 2 cards and risers.
Either way I know I'll need a small psu for the mobo as well. Any advice?

Power supply questions. Empty sata vs shared molex & sharing an 8 pin.

    Posted: 19 Feb 2018 07:14 AM PST

So just set up my first rig: 6 RX 580s/480s on a 1000w Corsair RM1000x (80+ Gold). Working like a charm. I made sure to undervolting the first 4 GPUs before adding the extra 2 and undervolting them, just incase. All worked out great :)

So I have an additional question on an extra PSU I have lying around.

I have 2 more 480s and happen to have a motherboard/cpu/memory/psu laying around to accommodate exactly 2... Maybe. I will transfer them to a larger rig later down the line, but considering I have the parts to get the mining right now ad no additional expense I was going to go ahead and do so.

    The big question here...

Thermaltake TR2 600w powering 2 RX480s (undervolted). Is it possible?

    The 2 big questions are:

-I have one cable with an 8 pin and 6 pin, is it safe to use it on both?

-I have one molex cable. Should I use an empty sata cable to power one riser? Or split the molex on both?

I realize I should just go buy a new PSU, but I want to put that money into a 1000w+ PSU for the next full build (that these 480s will transfer into) and dont want to delay the next build with a temporary smaller PSU buy if I can get away with it...

    Problem undervolting with msi

    Posted: 19 Feb 2018 07:09 AM PST

Hi. I have some problems to undervolt my rig with afterburn. I have unlocked it but when I set the value for the example 950 mv on my rx 570, looking to it with gpu z it appear correctly but after some minutes it became again 1100. When I look to afterburn instead it appears always 950. (I have set force voltage)

    NemosMiner vs MultiPoolMiner

    Posted: 19 Feb 2018 06:53 AM PST

    Hi guys,

I've been mining with MPM and MPH pool for a while now, moved to that set up from nicehash after a week or so. Has anyone tried NemosMiner or had better performance from other profit switching software/pool setups? Rig is pure nvidia

    Equihash crashing Nicehash

    Posted: 19 Feb 2018 06:35 AM PST

Hi, I have recently built my first rig, with the following specs:

    • 6x Zotac Mini 1060 6GB
    • GB GA-H110-D3A MoBo
    • 2x EVGA GQ 750W PSU

All cards are OCd; PL 85%, Core+150, Mem+500, no undervolt.

When I run them on Nicehash, all algos seem fine except Equihash; after a few minutes I'll get a CUDA error DRIVER: '719' in func 'run_single_stream' line 978, and the excavator server restarts. Now I have managed to combat this by either setting the power limit to 75%, or disabling Equi on 2 cards. The PSUs are powering 3 GPUs plus their risers each, with one of them powering MoBo, SSD etc as well. The risers are Ubit, and powered by 6-pin straight from their respective PSUs. The power limit fix seems to suggest a power issue, but I believe 750W should be more than enough to power 3 1060s? I would like to be able to run Equihash on all 6 cards, any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Is it worth to wait for gtx 20XX?

    Posted: 18 Feb 2018 05:18 PM PST

I have an option to make my first mining rig, but I am thinking about w8ing for new nvida gpus realise, which is rumored to occur in april.
I know that there is almost nothing, that we know for sure, but I am interested in your thoughts and predictions.

What is the best way to use my machine to mine bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies? It is an intel i7 7700 quad, 8 threads, 12gb ram, nvidia geforce 1050ti?

    Posted: 19 Feb 2018 06:12 AM PST

The only thing I know is nice hash miner app, what do you think about that by the way? On a side note, I won't be using an external cooler.

Would 2xSata to 6 pin be ok for powering a riser?

    Posted: 19 Feb 2018 06:02 AM PST

I know sata is the devil but I was hoping these https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B007Y91B80/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1519048499&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=Sata+6+pin&dpPl=1&dpID=31qfk1TtfpL&ref=plSrch would be better than using a single sata adapter? From the pictures it looks like it's only a single power wire from each sata though so maybe still not a good idea? (hi sata bot)

    Asrock H110 not posting

    Posted: 19 Feb 2018 05:24 AM PST

It worked before but now it is not posting... Did a CMOS reset twice, reseeded the memory... Connected a GPU directly to the mobo and no go. I haven't tried connecting directly from the dvi to the monitor yet because I didn't have the adapter.

Could there be another issue here?
