My city has banned bitcoin and cryptocurrency (gpu) mining. Posted: 26 Feb 2018 12:08 PM PST I posted earlier about how the local pud is cracking down on cryptocurrency mining, and a few jerks said I was lying and that it "never happened". Well, not the PUD has convinced the largest city it operates in to ban mining so they don't have to deal with it at all. Wenatchee: https://www.wenatcheeworld.com/news/2018/feb/23/wenatchee-bans-at-home-bitcoin-mining-for-one-year/ And the next largest city in Chelan County is the city of Chelan, and the pud convinced them to issue a moratorium on bitcoin mining. http://www.ncwlife.com/chelan-places-moratorium-bitcoin-mining-within-city-limits/ I can't believe this crap. Posted: 27 Feb 2018 08:26 AM PST Hi all, I have running awesome miner on win10 mining to MPH, recently i decided to switch to HiveOS, been mining 1 specific coin for a about a week and i must say i have fallen in love with HiveOS. But what i cannot seem to figure out is how to do the auto algo switching inside of HiveOs, i have seen some MPH templates. But i still don't fully understand this. Anyone here using it in such way, auto algo switching? [link] [comments]
Short term high temp GPU mining? Posted: 27 Feb 2018 08:21 AM PST I recently started to use my GTX 980 Ti in my gaming rig to add on to my main GTX 1060 miner whenever I'm not using it and the 980Ti reaches a temperature of 85C and stays there. Now I know it's not healthy to run a GPU at that temperature for 24/7 but I only have my gaming rig on for 8 hours a day at most whereas with my GTX 1060 rig, I keep the temperatures at 80C or below. So, is letting my 980Ti mine at 85C for 8 hours a day (might be less since I do play some games from time to time) okay for the GPU or should I stop mining on it altogether? [link] [comments]
Bittrex Order Tracker for Android Posted: 27 Feb 2018 08:10 AM PST We present you an app to track the orders you have in Bittrex. It's extremely simple, just to see how close are your orders to be fulfilled. It's a simple window ordered by Differential between your limit order, and the actual price. We accept proposals for the app :) You can also see the balances. PS: It's the first version, we know we can do better and add more things, but we really want to keep it REALLY simple [link] [comments]
Mining Strategy: Follow The Herd Or Trade Into your LT Hold? Posted: 27 Feb 2018 06:46 AM PST Like many others, I got heavily into GPU mining a couple of months ago. I've been contemplating this strategy for a while. Is it better to mine a low difficulty coin directly or better to mine the "most profitable coin" and trade into that low difficulty coin? Let's talk BTCZ and ZEC for example. If you want to hold BTCZ, is it better to just mine it or go after ZEC because it is consistently highly ranked as a profitable mining option? Help with a RX570/580 rig BIOS Mod issue Posted: 27 Feb 2018 05:18 AM PST I have a 3 GPU rig with 2 Nitro+ 570's and 1 580. I used the Polaris BIOS Mod (+ATIWin and the patcher) to increase the hash rate for each card successfully. The 580 bumped up from 25 to 30.5. The 570's went from 20 to 24.5. One 570 is Micron and the others are Hynix memory. I am using the blockchain drivers amd no OC to this point. Used Claymore Eth Pool (2Miners) to test speeds. The problem: each card was modded individually as per instructions, but when I add a second card to rig, I get windows 10 error code 43 and the devices stop working. This happens in all combinations as you can imagine. Without risers, with risers, the 580 in the x16 slot, etc. Only when I restore the original rom do the cards behave together. My motherboard is an Asus Maximus Hero VI (ddr3 ram) and the PSU is a Toughpower 1200w. Both are admittedly older hardware but I have no idea if they are the culprit. The BIOS for this mobo does not have 4G encoding as an option and I set PCI to Gen 2 speed. But here is where it gets worse. After the restore the hash rates went down almost 20%. Both 570's are now clocking at 18 and 19 (Mh/s). Been fighting with this rig for 3 days to make sense of what is going on. Any advice or light shed on this would be most appreciated! Thanks! Mining cost calculation monthly - 1080ti/1070ti Posted: 27 Feb 2018 05:06 AM PST i have 2x 1080ti and 1x 1070ti mining at 80% tdp - so thats 650watts * .8 = 520 and lets say add another 100 for rest of computer. so 620 watts being used. January was the first month i mined almost 24/7, my electric bill went up 80$ USD. can anyone do the math on how much cents/kwh it is costing? [link] [comments]
Best cards to target in the used market? Posted: 27 Feb 2018 05:02 AM PST I've heard good things about the 580, I've been refreshing Craiglist a lot looking for cards but unfortunately don't have many options. [link] [comments]
2 PSU rig combines Wattage or does each PSU work independent? Posted: 26 Feb 2018 10:53 PM PST Example: 6x1080 rig. 1st 800W PSU cant handle 4x1080, but can handle 3x1080. So if I add a second 800W PSU can I power 4x1080 with the first PSU and 2x1080 with the second PSU? Or even 5x1080 with the first PSU and 1x1080 with the second? You get the point. What I mean is if they work now as a single 1600W PSU or each one just delivers 800W max. Please note these are example wattages. I tried to search for this question but couldnt find so thanks in advice. [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Feb 2018 04:09 AM PST I currently have one antminer l3+ in my garage at home which is working fine. The circuit is a 120v but I am yet to find a breaker for it as it is a completely different circuit to my house but never mind. It only has two outlets so currently im using one for the miner and one for a powerline adapter. Im thinking of buying another l3+ as theyre just so "cheap" at the moment, but im wondering how I will be able to power this. Im also going to move my 6 gpu mining rig into there in the summer, so i will need another outlet for that. Summer brings a whole new problem of heat. I will probably have to buy an AC unit which means i need another outlet for that too. So im wondering, what is the safest way of connecting this all up? I could just plug in extension cables, find out what size the breaker is and hope for the best but i know that its safer to plug straight into the outlet. I could also get an electrician to install a 240v line to the garage which would enable me to connect some pdus and go from there. This could be an investment as its a garage so people can use the same line for electric cars if i sell the house. Just wondering what peoples thoughts are. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Awesome Miner profit would drop in profit to less than $1/card at times from $4/card Posted: 27 Feb 2018 03:48 AM PST My rigs are 1080 Ti's and have benchmarked the cards and usually have been averaging $3-$4/card but once in awhile it'll drop suddenly to less than $1/card. I've used NH in the past but never seen anything like this. Is this part of the donation in MPH (I have it set to 0.01) or is there something wrong with the algo switching within AM? Same cards, same bios, same OC, two different power draws. Posted: 27 Feb 2018 02:37 AM PST I have 6 570 nitros 4gb in two differnt rigs. I am using Anaroks power saving bios in all 6. In one rig they pull 110 wats, in the other rig they pull 140 watts. The only differnce is that in one rig I have the plugs to spare and have both the 8 and 6pin power connected. Those run at -30% TDB stable and only pull 110watts. The other rig doesnt have enough cables and only has the 8pin connected, they pull 140% and I can only run them at -15% TDP stable. What gives? Posted: 26 Feb 2018 10:35 PM PST Anybody know of any altcoins to mine that would be a good idea to get into? Something to get into before a boost in price! Im currently mining on nicehash and wanting to switch to HIVEos and mine directly from pools in a hope to potentially get more money is this correct ? I have 6 Rx580's 8 GB and i think i should get them dual mining and just getting direct ethereum deposits ? [link] [comments]
First rig - need some help with an issue Posted: 26 Feb 2018 05:22 PM PST Specs first: Gigabyte GeForce gtx 1070 mini 8gb x 6 Msi z170a pro sli 4gb ram Celeron 3900 (skylake) 2x 850w corsair Usb/6pin pcie risers 220gb ssd - Windows 10 pro Bios has been updated to 1.D Gen 1 has been selected (have tried gen 2 as well) 4g enabled Turned on windows 8/10 supper Disabled 7 Now on to my issue: I cannot get the rig to identify the cards outside of the first pcie slot. I have my monitor plugged directly into the first card, into the first slot. It picks up and device manager/open hw monitor will pick up the GeForce gtx 1070 Now if I take that same card and move it to another slot, it will still display to the monitor but open hw monitor no longer detects it, and device manager registers "basic Microsoft adapter" in place of "GeForce gtx 1070" Now, that at first led me to a bad pcie slot on the board, but here is where it gets weird. If I plug the gpu back in the first pcie slot, and then plug any of the others into any of the other pcie slots, it will pick up two GeForce gtx 1070s in both open hw, and device manager. If I plug any more cards in one of a few things goes on: I can get to the windows 10 login screen, but it freezes and I have to use the io switch or unplug. It will boot to a backlit monitor, but no image will display It won't boot I'm scratching my head. I've got all drivers installed. This is my first mining rig set up, but I've built many a computer during my time. I have tried to use the set up guide for mining on this motherboard from he MSI site. It does not work. When I set the integrated graphics from peg to igd I get no image from either the onboard or the gpu. At that point I have to reset the bios to get any image to display. Any help would be greatly appreciated [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Feb 2018 12:23 PM PST I can not find an answer to my tax questions... Lets run through a scenario real quick and you guys tell me what you think I mine 10 zcl over a two week period on suprnova, I withdraw from pool to wallet, wallet to exchange and sell all the 10 zcl I would pay taxes on all of these earnings as income BUT most people say you pay taxes from when it was mined, soo im supposed to make an excel sheet with every SINGLE BLOCK THAT I FIND AND THE PRICE AT THE TIME OF FINDING THAT BLOCK?????!?!? and if I sell for more than when the block was mined then I pay short term capital gains tax as well? how in the actual fuck could anyone ever calculate this? as of now I am doing the best I can and using good faith to pay the taxes on the coins I convert to fiat, which is all of them, I never "hold" I always sell on the day I put into my wallet, but some people would say that having my coins in suprnova is "hodling" What do you guys think? for the record ive asked my CPA for my business and he didnt respond to my email because he has no idea what a crypto is... Posted: 27 Feb 2018 12:37 AM PST Hypothetically if you find a shiny new coin that was just released, how do you retain them? Wallets and Exchanges? Do they release wallets the moment before every coin is released? [link] [comments]
First Mining Rig - GPU price and mining future? Posted: 27 Feb 2018 12:22 AM PST Hi I am trying to set up my first small mining rig in the next 30 days (yes, i wanna do it sooner, but FOMO is bad..). I was a complete noob (and still am..^^) with 0 knowledge on mining gears till yesterday.. Here are my learnings, so correct me if i am wrong! :) Price: Because GPU prices are so crazy now (i easily see 2x prices...), my current plan is to wait for 1070 TI stock to get back and buy it for $450 ea, maybe help with 2 friends. Volta: Also, I am hearing by the summer, NVIDIA Volta (next gen of 1080) will come out and likely to be priced around $700. That being said, I am thinking of mixing 1070ti and 2060 TI (?). Mining: Also, ETH will move to POS, but i think this won't happen until EOY. That being said, mining will be still profitable in 2018 in my opinion. Any opinion or thoughts on this?
