    Thank you Core Devs for developing a paradigm designed to fail.

    I feel sorry for all the lightning developers who innocently spent all their resources working on this rainbows and unicorn project.

    I feel sorry for all the naive lightning hopefuls who ran LN nodes and got their funds locked up.

    BCH->Fiat Payment Processor

    Posted: 26 Feb 2018 06:43 PM PST

    I've been thinking about this for the past couple of days.

    At present, to my knowledge, there is not Bitpay-like payment processor that can convert BCH -> USD (or another fiat) on-the-fly.

    I understand that there are probably some complex legalities associated with starting a business like this up so am not too surprised that this has not been done. However, I really think that this is a service that would be incredibly useful in encouraging adoption as many businesses are reluctant to accept BCH directly due to its volatility (and the extra effort required to exchange it into a fiat they are more familiar with)

    Bitpay appears to be dragging its feet in terms of supporting BCH and I'm not sure there's any roadmap available for when this might be implemented.

    Question 1:

    Does anyone know of any business that has plans to provide a Payment Processor that can convert BCH -> USD (or another fiat)?

    Question 2:

    Would something akin to the following be a feasible alternative in the short-term:

    Deposits of BCH are sent directly to a merchant's exchange account and then a daemon monitors via API for the incoming transaction to become available and trades it for USD immediately.

    I think the above might get around some of the legalities associated with being a payment processor (as it's more akin to receiving and then trading), but am not positive. It would also be done independent of any formal Payment Processor as the trade is actioned by the merchant themselves.

    Any feedback on the above would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.
