Will gpu mining always be a thing? Posted: 14 Jan 2018 07:06 AM PST I understand this might become into a PoS vs PoW debate (if so be it) but what do you guys think would happen if PoS does become a reliable algorithm for consensus. Wouldn't this affect gpu mining greatly? if so, how much? On the other hand many claim PoW will and always be more secure for networks, but! Asic miners might be the only way to support the amount of users we expect to have in the future, so also affecting #gpuming. As a side note, i'm currently mining ethereum with a 50Mhs setup and quite happy with the results, so i'm thinking in investing more but i'm afraid half way through the year when PoS is introduced in ethereum numbers would change significantly. What are you fears gpuming community? [link] [comments]
Created A Rig Build Profitability Spreadsheet Posted: 14 Jan 2018 07:05 AM PST Check it out: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1OdLGy5ieSDqE-j8Igbt2RZGx9SMsXlMrGiJ2vVDilZc/edit?usp=sharing My spreadsheet will help you figure out which combination of video card will be most profitable while not exceeding the PSU's limit. The top table at the top hasn't been completely filled in because the I'm not sure what the actual profitability/specs are for those cards. Feel free to copy to your google drive and let me know what you think! [link] [comments]

Is investing in a mining rig still worth it? Posted: 14 Jan 2018 08:12 AM PST Hi. I'm considering investing in a 1070 TI/ 1080 TI rig. Which one of the following GPU's would you recommend? Local price 1070 TI: 650$ Local price 1080 TI: 1000$ Electricity here is cheap (0.06$). Another thing. I keep reading about people saying it is not worth investing in mining rigs anymore, what is your opionion on this? Would you say it is better to invest directly in crypto? Right now, a 1080 TI rig with 6 GPU's will gain me about 30-40$ per day (according to whattomine). How long can i expect the mining to be this profitable though? [link] [comments]

d270-d3 board, cant get 6th card to work after patching to latest bios. Posted: 14 Jan 2018 08:09 AM PST I have two 6x 1070 Ti rigs that are both throwing either a ! error in device manager (windows 10) even after the latest flash of bios. Both rigs work more or less flawlessly with 5 gpu or less. The 6th card is always causing the issue. The OS is windows 10, virtual memory has been set to 24000, reset bios to optimal defaults. Seems to be BIOS related? Any ideas? [link] [comments]
I've done a search here and no one is talking about Bminer a new Equihash miner released last month. Posted: 13 Jan 2018 06:39 PM PST I started with EBWF then I discovered DSTM which was the tits with the higher hashrate but it was fairly unstable if I tried to adjust the vid cards through MSI AB giving me hard freezes or bsods. Sometimes they happened a short while after I walked away after adjusting a setting to give it time to settle. Sometimes hours later. I saw this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2519271.320 and tried it out. Using the exact same stable msi AB settings I dialed in with DSTM, I tried it out for 24 hours and didn't get a single crash and rejected shares were single digits out of almost 3k shares submitted and my overall hashrate went up +60 sol/s. I've also noticed it doesn't mind when I'm tuning the graphics cards while active and have never gotten a bsod or frozen pc in days now. Cherry on top is that I personally like the telemetry screen which is a bit nicer to monitor over dstm's. Devfee is the standard 2% same as all the others. Just wanted to share because I know we're all trying to find that razor's edge of performance in our rigs. [link] [comments]
GTX 1060 alone or with an old 745? Posted: 14 Jan 2018 07:55 AM PST I have a GTX 1060 that's getting decent hashrates... question is, I have an old GTX 745 laying around, would it do ANY difference if coupled with the 1060? [link] [comments]
Limit on amount of GPUs in Windows 10? Posted: 14 Jan 2018 07:46 AM PST So i've been reading about people having trouble using more than 8 gpus on Windows 10, is this still an issue? Or is this just outlier problems? Been looking at the Asus B250 mainboard, and 10 amd or nvidia gpus, is that something which should work? [link] [comments]
[Canada] Where are you guys buying gpu's? Posted: 14 Jan 2018 07:39 AM PST all the normal retailers around me either have no stock or the stock is marked up like crazy... previously grabbed 3 asus dual 1070's for 549.99 a piece and a 1070ti for 579. Since then everything has been out of stock or way over priced... [link] [comments]
How to mine with only some GPUs? Posted: 14 Jan 2018 07:26 AM PST I have been using AwesomeMiner for one week but one shitty thing is it apparently doesnt have an option to use any GPU in your system except the Integrated, this would be awesome as some days i only use internet but if i turn the miner on it becomes too laggy. I have tried installing ccminer but in the list of commands i dont find any that allows me to choose, is this even doable? Thank you and sorry if it has been answered, i cant find it. edit: I have 2 x 1070 [link] [comments]
Worst GPUs that are able to make a profit? Posted: 14 Jan 2018 07:19 AM PST I have an old ibm thinkpad T43 laptop with a Radeon x300 128mb and a Radeon hd 6670 1gb, s3 savage4 8mb and hd 5450 512mb, s3 aurora64v+ 2mb and tseng et6000 Of that list, are any of them even remotely profitable? Added amd cards with my gtx 1060s and now claymore says cannot allocate big buffer for dag. Posted: 14 Jan 2018 07:14 AM PST They are 3gb models but mined eth find before adding amd cards. I used the -platform 1 and 2 to separate the amd and nvidia .bat files Amd are mining eth just fine, just the 1060s wont now for some reason, any ideas? [link] [comments]

How do I know if my GPU is Crimson or Polaris? Posted: 14 Jan 2018 05:37 AM PST while reading Claymore's Readme file, I found that AMD has two architectures of cards, 1) Crimson and 2) Polaris. I didn't know that, well I am new to the GPUs and mining. So please bear with me. Now, if I have Nitro+ RX580 what is this? Crimson or Polaris? In case of Polaris turns out I can use any driver version with Claymore v10.3. [link] [comments]
PSA for those experiencing lower than expected hash rate on one or more cards Posted: 13 Jan 2018 11:09 AM PST I've been building PCs as a side business for 4 years building about 400 PCs, and never ran into as many hardware issues or "GPU under performing" as I experienced with my mining rig. Some searching through the posts on this subreddit shows I'm not the only one. Getting a defective mobo or GPU is quite rare. If you are seeing one card significantly under perform, it's likely being caused by the only part in your system that's a cheap made-in-China POS - the GPU riser. My first pack of 6 so far only has 3 of 6 risers working. One fails to get the card recognized, one causes a computer black screen / freeze when any program that needs the GPU is launched, and the other caused ever so slightly lower than normal Sol, more rejected shares, and error 74 related crash every 5-6 hours. These are the Mintcell 006C risers, all being powered with 6-pin VGA cables on EVGA G3 PSUs. I see a lot of people just accepting the errors I just described as normal, going as far as to setup task scheduler to try to reboot the miner every 10 minutes in case of a crash. There is a way you can diagnose to see whether you have a riser related problem using MSI afterburner and just replace that, rather than using tedious workarounds. The main indicator is the GPU Usage % graph in MSI Afterburner. No matter what you have your TDP/Voltage set to, the usage % should always be a flat line at 99% or 100% (with perhaps the odd spike down), like this: https://imgur.com/5JAbe6r However if you have a defective riser the line will not be smooth, it will be grainy and choppy like this: https://imgur.com/p5KeG0D Note: I used the GPU Power % (not Usage %) in the second pic to show you what the usage% is NOT supposed to look like. It's normal for GPU Power % graph to look like that. TL;DR: If your bad card shows a GPU usage % graph that's grainy or choppy like in my second pic, try reseating the riser. If that doesn't work, try replacing it with one of your known working risers. This should fix the issue. EDIT: This only applies to equihash coins. [link] [comments]

Anyone ever used a mining rig for machine learning? Posted: 13 Jan 2018 07:54 PM PST I'm in the process of building a mining rig and I got curious to know if it would be usable for machine learning application... Also, is there a way to make a rig "sharable" remotely while mining? I'm not sure how to describe, but I have a teacher that has some big projects on Computer Vision and Machine Learning stuff, he helped me alot in University and while I don't maintain contact with him anymore, I'm still part of his Facebook group of students. And I noticed they're having some problems ordering good GPU's because the university doesn't want to give him enough money. So I wanted to know, is there a way to make a slice of my RIG and give it to them, in a way that if they're not using them, mining operations are normal, and once they start using them for something, the mining software pauses or reduces the priority? The first thing that comes to mind is virtualization but no experience, any ideas? [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Jan 2018 03:24 AM PST Hey there, I wanted to try out the simpleming os. I burned the lates IMG on Windows 10 with Etcher as suggested. The result are two partitions on my pendrive, but both indicate that I need to format them in order to gain access. So I can't access any of them to edit the config file. I've also tried burning the image with HDDRawCopy1.10 with the same result. Could you please help me out with this? thanks! [link] [comments]
Do you guys use USB wifi adapters or Powerline adapters for your rigs? Posted: 13 Jan 2018 11:09 PM PST Hey so I was wondering if you guys used USB wifi adapters or powerline adapters for your rigs. Have never used powerline adapters, but from reviews I've read that sometimes they disconnect and need to be replugged in. this is the powerline adapter im thinking about: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AWRUICG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_ep_dp_34XwAb3183H8W [link] [comments] |
