Can someone answer a few questions about the NIST competition? Posted: 17 Jan 2018 10:31 AM PST Hi there. I've been trying to read up on NIST's post-quantum standardization contest, but I have a few questions I haven't been able to figure out. If anyone can answer them I'd be very thankful. -What's the "prize"? I know that NIST is an American government organization, so presumably the prize is that the winning entry will get implemented somewhere. But where? -Are other countries working on implementing post-quantum crypto? Are there similar contests around the world that have already happened or are planned? -I see that they had a contest for choosing AES back in the late 90s. Is this contest being done basically in the same way? -Is there any global impact to this contest? (That is, outside of the USA). Are other countries or companies going to be influenced by this?
