The Bear Case for XRP: Bitcoin Futures Edition Posted: 20 Dec 2017 09:50 AM PST This is why if you don't understand about XRP, you need to keep your mouth shut and don't even think to talk about it. This is one of the worst article about XRP I've ever read, lack of research, fact, and vision. Clear FUD and what a bitcoin maximalist. The only thing I agree with him is the lack of liquidity of XRP compared to BTC. But it has been the main focus of Ripple in the future years. Especially when it will be finally added to coinbase, I would say that's literally a checkmate. XRP will boom from there, without a doubt. The rest of that article is complete nonsense. I recommend the author to do a complete research of XRP white paper and how it works, why it is so valuable. When he has done his research homework lets sit together and argue. Until then, he doesn't have the right to talk about it and post it in popular media. Cause I hate an ignorant. His article is a shame to crypto space. XRPthestandard[link] [comments]

Sold my XRP at .80 is it worth to buy back in? Posted: 20 Dec 2017 07:52 PM PST Earlier today I sold my Ripple when it was in the 80s (bought in at the 60s), because I needed the money. Sadly I didn't look here before selling and missed a lot of info that probably would've persuaded me to do otherwise. My question is, Is it worth reinvesting into XRP when its nearing 1$? Does anything show it going higher anytime soon? I'm definitely a crypto noob and just need a little advice. [link] [comments]
[Howto] Paper Wallet: generate, deposit, withdraw, consult Posted: 20 Dec 2017 04:21 AM PST Hi xrp'ers @ /r/ripple & /r/xrp, I see a lot of questions about paper wallets lately. Got some messages regarding paper wallets as well. This is my attempt at combining all my explanations in one howto. What is a paper walletA paper wallet is a XRP wallet you can generate offline and print. When you generate a paper wallet, you generally print it (multiple times) and store the paper wallet in a (very) safe place. Don't store all the copies in one building, since you want to be able to retrieve a copy if something terrible happens. One of the advantages of a paper wallet is is that it's "unhackable" - if someone hacks your computer, your keys* aren't stored on it. Just keep them safe ;) A paper wallet contains 2 keys (text) and most of the times 2 QR codes (one for each key). When your XRP is stored in your own wallet, the XRP's are yours. When your XRP is on an exchange, you might loose access to your XRP's (if the exchange goes offline, freezes your account, etc.) - so if you want to hold on to your XRP's for some time, better send them to your own wallet. How about the wallet keys? There are two keys: the public key (wallet address) and the private key (secret key). The wallet address starts with a r and the private key starts with the letter s. The wallet address is generated from the private key. This means you can loose your wallet address (the one starting with r) since you can just re-generate the same address from your private key. The private key is for your eyes only (!!!) - If someone has access to your private key they have access to all the funds stored in the Ripple wallet. Please don't share your private key, please don't store it somewhere in a document on your computer, and never enter it somewhere except if you trust the place you are entering the key. Your wallet address (starting with r) is kind of your "XRP Wallet bank account number". You can send XRP to this wallet. You can check the transactions from your wallet (more below, 'consult'). Your private key (starting with s) is kind of your PIN + Username + Password for online banking: you can access all your funds and send them somewhere. Risky! How to generate a paper walletThere are many places offering to generate your paper wallet, however: some of them can't be trusted. Imagine the website generating the wallet stores the generated values, and waits untill you deposit your XRP: since they have the private key they can steal your funds. I prefer generating a wallet with open source code, so the geeks can audit the source code. Here you can find a wallet generator I trust.
SecurityIf you want to be sure the generated values aren't stored, you can download the source-code, store it at your computer, unplug your computer from the internet, reboot, generate, print, reboot and plugin the internet again. If you're a geek yourself, you can generate a wallet offline using the nodejs Ripple-Lib code. Here's a sample. How to get XRP into your wallet (deposit)Send XRP to your wallet address (starting with r). Most exchanges offer to withdraw XRP. You can enter your wallet address as the recipient. If you are asked for a destination tag and the address you are sending the XRP to is your own paper wallet, you can leave the destination tag empty or enter a zero (0). The destination tag can only contain numbers, and can be used to distinguish funds entering your wallet. How to check my balanceSince the XRP ledger is open to the world, the whole world can check your balance. However: as long as you keep your wallet address to yourself, no one will know the wallet belongs to you. To check your balance, you can use one of the publicly available tools, and enter your wallet address. I like these two: Of course you can install a wallet on your phone or computer and check your balance with the app; the app can be used to transfer/withdraw your XRP as well. For iOS and Android, give Toast Wallet a spin. NOTE: If you decide to use one of the available wallets, remember you have to enter your private key. Only enter the private key if you trust the app. Remember: if anyone gains control over your private key, they can steal your funds! However: since Toast Wallet is open source, everyone can audit the source code. How to get XRP out of your wallet (transfer/withdraw)To send XRP from your wallet to another wallet address (like the wallet address of an exchange) you need to generate a transaction and sign the transaction with your private key. You can do this with any XRP wallet you trust. If you install wallet software you can enter your private key to allow the wallet software to sign your transaction. If you install Toast Wallet on your iOS or Android device, you can set a PIN code, and then go to:
If you want to use Gatehub, you can access your own wallet:

Careful depositing XRP on binance Posted: 20 Dec 2017 08:09 PM PST I usually do my exchanges from my laptop and accidentally missed the tag when hurriedly using my phone to deposit XRP on binance. No reply from support, so I think I've just lost what's a significant amount of ripple to me. Does anyone know of how I go about getting binance to return my funds? I know it's my fault, but they have them somewhere. I submitted a ticket but didn't even get a confirmation email reply so I'm far from hopeful. [link] [comments]
As someone who has an interest in a long term investment in XRP, I have a serious question; Posted: 20 Dec 2017 08:47 PM PST Why would financial institutions use such a volatile asset for payments? I see most of XRP is locked away in escrow so wouldn't limiting supply contribute to the price swings we see now? Wouldn't these price swings turn off financial institutions from adopting XRP (and its technologies)? Wouldn't the eventual release of all XRP from escrow depress prices, making this a not so attractive investment for an individual? Finally, does anyone have recommendations of other cryptocurrencies that have similar global ambitions? EDIT: Great responses so far, I was expecting mostly memes. Thanks to everyone, seriously. Tonight was fun. Until next time :) Posted: 20 Dec 2017 08:31 PM PST So it started when I checked my binance and saw that XRP was at 0.89. I rushed home and began watching the charts. Today was the most volatile I've seen ripple since I bought at 0.46. Ever since, I've been watching the pattern and nature of this coin. It spiked to some pretty high prices, but always dropped very quickly after to my disappointment. Today was different though. I ended up selling one half of my 2000 XRP at 0.89 and I just sold the other half at 0.94. Not sure if I will miss out on gains, but I am just trying very hard to understand how the market works. One thing I realized is that you have to be firm on your decisions. At the end of the day, we are simply placing bets on whether or not the price will go up or down. We can learn from our mistakes and get better at this whole thing. But what I will not allow to happen is let my FOMO/fear of losses take control. I will likely be a part of this again on the next major dip. Best of luck to you all! Edit: The "hodl for life" crowd on this subreddit do not to appear to appreciate this post. For new people getting involved in Ripple Posted: 20 Dec 2017 09:40 AM PST Just a little rant I had in the Ripple telegram (edited): The biggest problem I see regarding XRP and new people getting involved in it is the price. Not that its too high, but too low. People new to the game hear so much talk about Ripple, their affiliations with banks and see their massive market cap putting them in the top 5 on coinmarketcap and then see the low low price (under $1) so decide its the coin for them. Generally with the rational, "its cheap, so I get more bang for my buck, which in turn will give more profit" They fail to realise the amount of tokens available is a large part for the reason of the price. They just expect their 50c to quadruple in a week like other 'new' coins. Well those 'new' coins may be purely speculative, without a developed product and may not even have a prototype. Ripple is a working product that is just waiting for global adoption. That is very important to remember. The rate of growth is healthy in terms of time and gains. Look at the price from this time last year to now (I have not even looked but I'm damm sure it went up enough to keep all who invested happy) I'm a big fan of XRP and expect big things.....when the time is right. Please dont buy Ripple if you are expecting a quick flip. [link] [comments]
Posted: 20 Dec 2017 02:03 PM PST I currently use Poloniex for my ripple wallet. There is a $25,000 max withdrawl per day. Hypothetically let's say end of 2018 I have $5,000,000 USD worth of ripple and I want to unload it over the course of a week, how would I do so? Is there a better wallet I could use that wouldn't have the $25,000 limit? [link] [comments]
Why XRP will have a good year in 2018. Posted: 20 Dec 2017 06:33 AM PST I am not saying that XRP will explode in 2018, but it helps when the people that know the most about the coin want to be involved. Bitcoin.com founder sells all BTC and Litecoin creator sells all his LTC. Meanwhile, Ripple follows through with the escrow and execs are HODLing for the long haul. To the moon mother bleepers. The Order Book - what can we glean from exchanges? Posted: 20 Dec 2017 08:43 PM PST While many have tried to predict XRP price based on drawing lines and shapes on a price chart, I find it far more helpful to analyze an exchange's order book. An order book is the list of buy and sell orders - price and quantity - at a given time for a security or financial instrument. The order book is fluid as buyers and sellers are free to enter and exit their positions. I've been looking at Kraken's XRP order book for the past few days. At time of writing, the major sell point is 1.0 USD with a volume of 560,999. The buy side has been more nebulous, although support is beginning to show at 0.7 for 426,549 XRP. Both are subject to change but I think there is value in knowing where people plan to enter and exit the market. The obvious unknown is the buyers and sellers who have not placed an order. I'm curious to know what people are seeing on order books of other exchanges. EDIT: at 12.30am EST Dec 21 new support at .86 USD for 484,936 XRP [link] [comments]
I want to invest in XRP but i've never bought crypto, looking for help. Posted: 20 Dec 2017 09:20 PM PST Hello, I wanted to start invest into bitcoin last week but I had to renew my ID so now I've received it and I'm looking for the next steps, my understanding is I should buy BTC first because I cannot buy XRP without BTCs? I was going to verify my ID on Coinbase and invest around 300$ into BTC and then look for websites to exchange btc to xrp, or is there an easier way? Also I'm going to need both BTC and XRP wallet right? Any help is appreciated, thanks guys. :) [link] [comments]
[Mod Request] update the exchanges listed with their fee amount on the sidebar Posted: 20 Dec 2017 03:38 PM PST I think this will be very helpful information so people will know how much each place costs to use. Maybe even list which coins are primarily used on each exchange for trading. BTC, ETH, LTC, etc... For example: Cryotpia does not list anywhere how much an XEM transfer costs until you go to do the transfer and by then it is too late. It cost 20 XEM which is flipping ludicrous. Also they mainly use BTC and LTC. Where as Binance mainly used BTC and ETH (though XEM isn't listed on Binance). But you get the idea. Maybe if this can get the community aware of the insanity of the fee, then maybe this can become a thing on the other cryptocoin specific subs. And maybe we can collectively create a spark that can put pressure on the exchanges to compete for business by addressing this unspoken issue. [link] [comments]
Christmas Satoshis - A Humble Request - Nakatomis Posted: 20 Dec 2017 08:52 PM PST To celebrate the upcoming Christmas season I humbly request that in honor of all of those who lost their lives in the attack on the Nakatomi Plaza in 1988 - we refer to Satoshis as Nakatomis (Naks). On Christmas Eve, 1988, a group of terrorists led by Hans Gruber took the Nakatomi employees hostage during their Christmas party. Although the group of terrorists appeared to be motivated by freeing political prisoners, they were actually after $640 million in negotiable bearer bonds and other valuables stored in the company's vault and were planning on killing the hostages in an explosion so they could escape unnoticed. Nine innocent people lost their lives including power broker Harry Ellis who closed million dollar deals for breakfast. If it weren't for the heroics of shoeless cop John McClane many more would have perished in the attack. Please, out of respect for those who died at Nakatomi Plaza, begin the transition from SATs to NAKs. Peace be with you all. [link] [comments]
Can I move Ripple from a Paper Wallet to Nano S Ledger? Posted: 20 Dec 2017 07:48 PM PST Hey everyone! I'm new to crypto. I want to buy a large amount of Ripple (large as in thousands of dollars range), but I don't want to wait for my Nano S to arrive like a month later overseas and I will have missed out buying some Ripple, and I have some apprehensions about storing crypto on an exchange. Would a paper wallet be safe enough to store large amounts of crypto for the time before my Nano S arrives and transfer? [link] [comments] |
